Playing around with my Sam Vimes backstory fic, and my current headcanon is that Vimes' mother used to call him Sammy, and so when he finds out they're using that name for the coppers that trained under him and went to other cities, it briefly knocks him sideways.

Because he's not heard that name since she died, and maybe it had always been said with a hint of worry about her boy, who she loved but who she knew was a bit too fond of the drink and friendly with the gutters. But now he's a knight and a duke and he has a family he adores, and he's making a difference not just to people in the city but across the Disc.

And the name is a reminder that she's not here to see what he's become; she'll never get to experience the relief of knowing that she didn't need to worry quite so much anymore.

Graham crackers spread with cream cheese

Leave 'em sit a few hours until the crackers get soft and chewy, like ice cream sandwich cookies.

A satisfying little treat that is not too big nor neither too sweet.

Tastes a bit like cheesecake after the ripening time.

Also very fine dipped in hot chocolate, or with shmear of ganache inside.

Thug Kitchen recipe #18 Smoked Almond and Chickpea Salad Sammies (6/10)

When you're making this recipe, one of the first things you do is season and bake some almonds. When they come out of the oven (or if you store them for a few days) these are so freaking delicious. I'm typically a bit hesitant of using liquid smoke, but this is a great application of it. While the smoke almonds are great on their own, I think their preparation is a bit excessive for a chickpea salad like this- they don't really get appreciated in the final product. That being said the actual sandwich is pretty good though there are a lot of competing flavors, thus I gave this recipe a bit of a lower score. My only other issue with this recipe is that it made soooo much food. I typically try to reduce my food waste but there was no way I could eat a whole batch of this in a week nor could I eat a suggested serving sizes within a single meal

But for real though, try making just the baked smoked almonds, they're fire 🔥
