I’m a rambler, I’m a gambler, I’m a long way from home, and if you don’t like me, then leave me alone…
*trigger warning: this bio contains gang violence
Life before the Jolly Roger was wretched to Sam Bones. Growing up on the streets, he was picked on by just about everyone, and learned at a young age that anything he got in life, would be because he took it. As taught to him through experiences with drug lords and gang members, respect only came to those that people feared, and when he grew up, he was determined to be feared by all. One night, however, Sam picked a fight with the wrong guy; suddenly three men came to back up a member of the city’s most vicious gangs jumped him. He realized that if he was to be taken seriously, he needed someone in his corner. Funny, the things that come to you when you’re being beaten to a pulp in a puddle of your own blood. He thought for sure he was going to die, when a gunshot resounded, and pummeling stopped. James Hook saved him that day, pulled him from slums, and gave him a new life, and Sam vowed never to forget it.

BIOGRAPHY
Up to player!
QUICK FACTS
Growing up in a very serious household, Samuel has been known to rebel a little bit from this norm. He goofs off with his housemates sometimes, and enjoys playing games like chess and Gobstones over studying.
He stands strong in the face of adversity. He’s never backed down from a fight with any other student, and never flinches at hexes or curses.
While not particularly talented in ways of wizardry like his siblings are, he probably works the hardest out of all of the Bones children, making him a favorite among his teachers.
CONNECTIONS
AMELIA BONES: His sister. They’re Irish twins.
EDGAR BONES: His younger brother.
ADRIAN ARMSTRONG: Friends.
STUBBY BOARDMAN: Friends. Samuel is featured playing the dissimulator in one of Stubby’s songs.
“Oh god. Oh my god, where’s the--” Edgar spun several times in a circle, trying to find the bag. He should be better at this by now. He should be more competent when it came to dealing with this by now, even though he’d only done it once before. But he should be better. He spun one more time before he saw the bag-- it was a cute bag, light blue with little squirrels on it-- and grabbed it, swinging it over his shoulder. The only one that was more panicked than him right now was Annie, which was completely fair. He hurried back over to her and grabbed her hand.
“Here we go again.”
He refused to wait out in the hall. Edgar had always been stubborn, but this was something else. This was special. This was a moment he’d never be able to experience again. This was the birth of his kids. His twins, his sons. The last children he’d ever have, and he was going to be there. The expression on his face said as much, and the healer that was trying to get him to leave the room swallowed hard and finally shook their head. “Alright, you can stay.”
Edgar huffed softly and stepped around them. “Damn right, I can.”
He’d forgotten how small babies were. Looking down at the little baby in his arm, it looked comical how tiny he was. Edgar brushed his fingertip against the boy’s temple-- his son, he had to keep telling himself--and watched Annie hold their other boy in her arms. He smiled at her when she looked up at him.
“What should we call them?”
Annie paused for a long moment before she looked down at the boy in her arms. She shook her head slowly. “I think you should decide,” she said. Edgar’s smile faded a little bit. Annie sighed. “I don’t fit here anymore. I think we both know what has to happen now.”
No, Edgar wanted to say. But they did. He sighed heavily and looked back down at the baby resting in his arms. “Samuel Edward,” he said, and looked up at Annie again. “And Isaac Andrew, for my dad.”
Annie nodded. “Perfect.”
It wasn’t. But it’d have to do. Edgar knew that was the best they could manage right now, was good enough. He looked down at Sam in his arms, though, and it didn’t seem to matter as much that it was good enough. This was perfect. He didn’t need anything more than this.
Kira’s eyes were impossibly wide as she stared at the little baby in Edgar’s arms. “Baby?” she said, and looked up at him. Edgar smiled.
“Yeah,” he said. “This is your brother Isaac, Kira.”
Kira looked at Isaac again. “Brother,” she repeated. “Isaac?” Edgar nodded at her. She smiled widely and looked at Isaac again. “Hi!” She put her finger out and giggled when Isaac wrapped his fat little hand around it. “He’s squish!”
“Yeah, he’s squish.” Edgar pulled Kira up onto his lap and nodded at Sam, sleeping in the little crib next to the bed. “And that’s Sam, he’s your brother too.” Kira’s eyes got even wider. “Say hi to Sam.”
“Hi!” She stood on Edgar’s leg and leaned over so she could look down at Sam. She stuck her hand out and touched him, giggling excitedly when he made a little sound. She looked back at Edgar. “He’s squish!”
Edgar laughed, shaking his head before pressing a kiss to her temple. “That’s right, kiddo,” he said. “He’s squish.”
Kira bounced a little bit. “Squish, Ba.”
“And you have to help me take care of the squishes, okay?” Kira nodded diligently, little head bobbing. “It’s going to be you, me, and the squishes soon, so we’re going to have to help each other. Can you do that?”
Kira continued to nod. “Squish,” she said again, looking between Sam and Isaac. She looked back up at Edgar. “Ba?”
“Yeah, kiddo?”
“Song?” She shook his arm gently, and Edgar smiled as she held onto his earlobe.
“Alright, alright,” he said, and cleared his throat. “You’ve gotta’ help me sing it, though, alright?” She nodded eagerly. Edgar nodded, and looked down at Isaac.
“Hey kids, shake it loose together
The spotlight's hitting something
That's been known to change the weather...”
Grandpa the Niffler? I would have thought Regulus and Sam could come up with something better, but then again... it's Sam who can be painful to talk to on a good day and Regulus who is no Sirius and may not have a clever bone in his body
And besides, look at those two boys! Regulus is the new heir under the tutelage of scary Orion Black and Sam is the least impressive son of the Bones legacy. They can’t help it that they’re probably working out some serious Daddy Issues. Grandpa the Niffler might be has close to the seal of approval from a father figure they ever get.
We agree with you! Next to his tight-buttoned siblings, Little Sam is a puppy that’s just waiting for a pat on the head! Throw the ‘Puff a bone, shoot him a smile!
To add to an already irritating week, a moment’s inattention (her’s, more than Sam’s - not that she was about to admit it) had curdled the potion. While not quite cauldron destroying, it had not been salvageable. Worse, she had been unable to get to Regulus to steal part of his potion before Slughorn had done his rounds, and so the pair had several extra questions about what had gone wrong and how to remedy it added to their already lengthy homework. Narcissa had not bothered to look at Sam before stomping out of the dungeon, snapping at Simone Selwyn on her way.
Now, in a seldom-used classroom that was perfect for collaborative work, blank parchment and potion book on the table in front of her, she turned to her partner.
“I do not suppose you have begun any of the assignment yet?”
Narcissa was several minutes late to the potions class, as was usual for her this year; what was the point in turning up on time when Slughorn would let her get away with being a little late? Ordinarily, she would swan in and take her place beside Regulus, or Simone, or whichever of the Greengrass twins that she felt like sitting beside that day, but she quickly realised on a brief scan of the class that it was not to be the case. Instead, the class appeared to be split into assigned partners - there was no other reason for Regulus to be paired up with Gladys Gudgeon, after all.
If she was dismayed or surprised at having to sit beside the boy whom she recognised from a conversation several days earlier, and whose name was drawing a blank, she did not show it - though her usual impassive expression did not indicate that she was particularly pleased either.
In the background, Slughorn explained that they would be making the Draught of Peace. The moment he was done, she turned to her new partner: “I will not be touching any innards of anything that was once breathing.”
Just letting you know that you should be getting a Samuel Bones app by the end of the night :)
Ahhh! That’s so exciting, anon! We can’t wait to read it and see what you’ve done with him! I know our Amelia player will be happy to possibly have one of her brothers around, as well! -Admin Amanda
