happy World Indigenous Peoples Day from your fave Maliseet/Scottish/Irish/Welsh girl! I’d like to dedicate these selfies to any mixed kids who are struggling to grapple with their identities and indigenous youth who were raised away from their cultural traditions and feel lesser for it- being mixed or being raised outside your culture does not take away from your beautiful indigenous identity. I spent so much time rejecting who I was, being afraid to learn or to ask questions, feeling like an outsider because I was raised so far from my community. But I’m so glad I took the baby (and eventually big girl) steps I needed and I know my community and my family accepts me for who I am.
