I noticed that the Japanese culture uses delicate techniques such as watercolour and print making. This is used on fabrics, which can be seen on the females gown and on the decorative design displayed in the moodboard. I have deliberately kept the colour pallet warm, similar to the other cultural moodboards so I am able to create links.

These techniques will be experimented with in order to see how I could make a range of cards based on Japanese design.

C2C Summer campaign ad 2

This piece uses a layout inspired by the Artist, Tim Burton. He incorporates an abstract structure revealing an image of a gateway/door of some sort. 

I have used this style to show the intensity of Thorpe Park. Conquering fears that are fun/thrilling could be what an individual strives to do in order to find themselves. 

The spiral design had been illustrated to gain an abstract appearance of a roller coaster track.

Gallery 1988 Exhibition

GALLERY 1988 WINNER?!?!?!?

I am proud to announce that my Roger Rabbit Illustration WON a spot at Gallery 1988 in LA. I had been asked to print off my piece and have it framed and chopped from the original piece as the text was not required. 

The frame is 50x50cm and the print has been professionally printed and cut to dit a 30x30cm scale. 

I have named my art piece ‘Smile Darn Ya Smile!’, which is the final song within the screenplay.

D&AD Paper inspiration

My Instagram feed, @sarinak.design is filled with a huge range of artist influences that I have been able to take inspiration from. 

The main influencers in this moodboard has been taken from  @paper_amy  and @papieratelier 

I like the way characters are able to speak through hand crafted speech bubbles. The threedimensional aspect is incredibly unique and I feel the medium would be appreciated in this format. 

Using shapes to construct or ‘set the scene’ would be a creative way to display characters and once again promotes the use of paper.

Personal Branding - Business card variations

The original layout of my logo design, which had the text beneath the initials did not suit the shape of the business card. With this in mind, I altered the logo slightly by placing the text on the right hand side of the piece. This allowed the logo to extend across the shape of the card, keeping the initials as the main focus and with the text in align with the ‘K’. 

From the icons I illustrated, a range of designs have been made. The piece I would like to use as my business card is the first image in this collection. I have aligned the shapes with the hight of the ‘S’ so is does not over power the image. I also believe that the black within the icons compliments the typography.

Now the back of the business card with be designed and then placed onto mockups before I have them printed.

WE GROW CHERRIES

Graduates from Birmingham City University came in to discuss a platform they had expanded called ‘We grow cherries’. The aim of this space is to allow students from BCU to upload work from their PDF Portfolios, in order for the public to recognise the talents of within the university.

I will be working on a PDF portfolio, ready to showcase in two weeks time.

The next steps at this moment is to expand on my BRUM HUNT project. 

This will include:

Re illustrating Icons (Feedback suggested it they lost the kind hearted approach) 

Create Merchandise designs - Bags, caps, posters, badges.

Contact relevant individuals who could assist me on developing the app.

I wish to print the designs and photograph them, as it had been recommended not to use downloaded mockups, thus reinforcing our skillsets and ideas.
