so!!!! what about a selfless mc who got REALLY REALLY sick due to whatever devildom's air got in there.. but doesn't rlly know how to take care of themself (or they simply didn't bother to) because no one else taught them to appreciate themself? so satan(or lucifer) showed mc real love, just pure fluffiness—theyre taking care of mc, teaching them on how to appreciate themself.. [ sorry for being so late to this 😖🙏 i had meant to do a quick one but then got more fun with it instead and wanted to properly flesh it out so.. i hope this will give you some sort of comfort still (´TωT`)♥︎ i made a few tweaks with focusing on how mc purposely self sabotage by not making their health any better and rejecting help since they don't know how to appreciate themself, and so connected it with the exam season since they had to have higher than average score, and tied into their self worth yada2 i hope you enjoy this piece anon !! thank you for the request 🫶
this ended up not so fluffy aha but i think it's bound to be a little tricky when one or two of the characters are stubborn , they have a fight but they make up (satan is kinda mean in this..) , the fluff is the love and effort 🧟♂️ , mutual pining ]

81.
Two digits bold in red stamped on the front page. You fix your gaze at the numbers, staring long at it as if to increase them to existence. Biting the inside of your cheek, your fingers crumple the edges of the paper, straining to hold back a choked tear.
After all those endless days and nights...
You sigh. Exit the class and walk straight to the enormous center building of the academy. Up the stairs to the third floor and to the room at the very end to your right. Half an inhale and you're pushing the door open.
Bang!
Darting your gaze to the lone long desk across the room, to the papers piled on top of the desk, to the hand stopping its motions as soon as you observe it, then further above to the light gold colour reflected in the owner's eyes. The Devildom prince's voice is smooth and rumbled as always as he chuckles, "Ah, where are your manners? Are you just that excited to show me your last paper?"
Is he serious? Is he joking? You can't tell.
You brave forward still to approach him, setting the exam paper to his view, forcing yourself to put a smile. "Yes." You finally exhale. "How is it?"
His eyes drop to the piece of paper, with barely a few seconds of attention, before locking eyes with you again. A sweet beam blooms beautifully on his lips as he regards you. "Good job. Don't forget to rest and treat yourself."
Good job.
Was that all it was? Good. Just good?
Dismissing yourself, you tuck Diavolo's words somewhere far and secluded in your mind. If you don't think about it, you wouldn't fixate so much on how you barely got an A. The cheers in the hallway by other students grow muted in your ears. What is there to even celebrate about? Having to prove yourself in a place you didn't ask to be in... and you're just decent.
When you arrive home that evening, you're fast to enchant a lock to your room. By the time dinner rolls by, you let the notifications bombard your D.D.D., listlessly eyeing as one come after the other. They're worried about you? They shouldn't be. You're doing fine.
It isn't until the device suddenly vibrates that you're knocked out of your trance. A cat profile picture...
Cradling the item in your hands, you hit the 'Accept' button, swiftly answered with a faint sigh of relief from the other side. "You okay? Everyone's at the table already."
Gazing at the fluffy white cat image, you remain silent as more minutes pass by. "Were you asleep?" The fourth born continues, softer this time. The space between you is still again. You clutch the phone closer, curling your body inwards until your knees reach your chest. You close your eyes. Listen to the call as a creak sounds, then shuffles, seamlessly flowing to footsteps. Heavy and fast. Like his composure is thinning with concern. Was it normal to deduct a demon's feelings just from their footsteps alone?
It goes on a while, halting at last after a few moments. You think you know where this is going. The D.D.D. echoes, the same voice outside your room. "I've brought your dinner. Open up." You're quiet. "I'll kick this door down if I have to."
"No need. Just leave it by the door." You finally part your lips, fluttering your eyes open to look at the dark brown door staring at you. There's a few beats of rustle and a small clack, and you could make out his shadow staying by your door when he speaks again.
"You need to be by yourself?" You nod, humming a quick 'Mmhm'. Satan doesn't hang up yet, and so do you. Your heart is less heavier and the more you let the call be, the more you want to indulge in this gentle hush. "Be safe, sweetheart." The call clicks.
The next morning, Satan does kick your door down. He was always better in Spells class also anyway. You would have yelled and thrashed him for being rude if your body weren't feeling so heavy. With eyes half wide, you could only manage a grunt as he strides over to you. Peering vacantly to the distance behind him, you note the dinner left untouched by the door, then sweep your gaze to him at last. You don't say anything. He doesn't too.
Sweetheart, huh?
If you lay still and just stare at him, would he drop this? Whatever this is. Barging into your room at peak early of the day... Does he have nothing better to do? And what's he's focusing so hard on? Were your eyes really that swollen? Did he figured out you were bawling yourself the entire night?
Growl.
"Hah." He finally eases his gaze off your face to have a glimpse on your stomach. "You're hungry?," the blonde steps closer, seating himself on the edge of your bed. You quietly watch him again. The silence is sufficient when he repeats, certain this time. "You're hungry. And sick. And you didn't tell anyone?", Satan's eyebrows pinch together in distaste.
No. Not like it matters. Your mind quickly replies, though you have the heart to filter them, closing your eyes and sinking your head further onto your pillow. "It's just a cold."
And that's half the truth. It's not that big of a deal. You get sick, you sleep it off, and if it doesn't go away, then that's a shame. But they all soon do anyway. It's why people around you shrug it off so easily when you mention your sickness in passing. Sure, having your stomach empty or losing your strength to even get out of bed isn't fun. But it all gets better in a couple of hours or days. You learned to eventually stop bringing it up and no one asked. In your book, that means sickness is just a hassle. You were a hassle. Nothing more, nothing less.
Soft pads and murmurs echo near your ears before you get to attempt to situate yourself to a slumber. The room feels a little lighter somehow, that must be magic since your skin tingles with the familiar buzz. There's also a delicious aroma wafting through your space... Fresh meal? He must have did a spell. You feel warm, long fingers pressing gently on your forehead before slowly brushing off your hair backwards. This feels nice.
"Open your eyes." Satan instructs. "I'll feed you."
There's a small beat of silence that weaves its way through the air between you, in your second of hesitation, until you hum his offer off good-naturedly. "You can just leave it on the table. I'll eat later."
You hear the immediate click on his tongue and frown, preparing to be the recipient of his possible bubbling annoyance. But the demon only calls out your name, softly, the noun ending with a croaked sigh. If you had your eyes opened, maybe you could have seen how defeated he just was.
"You've never skipped dinner." He simply says. You pull your conciousness up, flutter your eyes open and look at his straight. He continues without a hitch.
"You didn't read the groupchat. You barely answered when I knocked the door. You left your assignment still open on the table." His fingers slide down to cup your cheek, a thumb tenderly rubbing the skin under your eye in a pause. "You're also really, really warm. And I'm supposed to believe you?"
You weakly sigh. You also really, really didn't want to be a burden in the first place. "It's not the first time," to which you feel him lightly pinch your cheek. "Is that supposed to make me feel better?"
Wincing, you blink your eyes awake to glare at him, "I said I'm fine." Satan purses his lips, holding your gaze stubbornly as his face nears you— Is he crazy? —before dropping his head gently on your shoulder. Ugh.. what an awkward position...
He presses on, "I literally brought dinner to you. You didn't touch it at all. Was that not a deliberate decision? You weren't content with being sick so you want to get sicker? What's that going to give you? Attention?"
Ouch.
Between wrath and affection, there will always need to be a delicate balance. Is it because he's a demon? The line is thinner than usual.
You feel your shoulders shake, and in turn, Satan too who had been relying on you. The sound is familiar— your own ugly sobbing —and not at the same time, not with another being at least. Your throat burns when you gently push him away by his chest, "Go away..."
He doesn't reply, choosing to bury his face into your shoulder, fingers trailing from your face down to rather embrace you with both his arms instead. This way, without meeting your eyes, you could still pinpoint the drooping in his tone when he murmurs, carressing your back as if brushing away his harsh words off of you. "I'm sorry... I didn't- Well, that was uncalled for and now, I made you cry more..."
Slowly, he inches backwards and faces you head on, a dejected look on his handsome face. "I just... want to take care of you. I said something bad so," his hands firmly squeeze your shoulders, "I'll help you double. Triple, quadruple even. Just don't.. shut me out."
It's another trance you will yourself into when you gaze at him from under your eyelashes, smoothing your composure with one deep breath, curling your fingers on his chest.
"Okay."
The demon's lips curve into a faint smile, releasing your shoulders in favour of holding together your hands instead. He waits for you to properly release your tension, working you through breathing together for a few moments before he grabs your attention in a small tap to your knuckle with his thumb.
"Now I'm going to feed you. But if you get sick next time, you have to promise me to eat. When you get sick.. When you're in trouble.. When you're overwhelmed.. If it's too much for you, just call for me. I want to help you, I care about you. Please let me help you." Satan says earnestly, a seemingly desperate tone in his voice. You squeeze his hands once, he squeezes yours back. "Alright."
"Promise?," he pushes, lifting and flexing your fingers to brush the tips with his lips.
"Promise."
my break is over #sad but my requests are still open, prolly not this long tho :'3
SATAN hated how he gave in to your wishes, he hated how he would get so swayed by you. He hates how you would always stick close to him and almost always were never scared of him.
Not that it mattered but what if he hurt you? What if by mistake he injured you? What if-
Now, don't get him wrong, he loves you he really does. In fact, he loves you so much that he wants to get a painting customized of yours, to actually look at it when you are not there. But it scared him how you never really feared him.
And today was one of those days, when he couldn't look at himself without rage burning. When he couldn't help but feel reckless enough to pick fights with people-
When he wanted to cry. Scream, shout, and just stay inside his room.
And it led to you cradling him, to hold him against your chest as you ran your fingers through his hair. To soothe him.
"You-you shouldn't be here, I am a demon that to of wrath-"
"Hush now, I am not afraid of you, darling, in fact your beauty has never scared me, I will always love you in all my lives, darling."
He sobbed more, as he clung on to you. Knowing you won't leave him. Knowing that you still would love him, that you would always be there for him.

You find Satan during one of his tantrums.
He’s trashing the living room and no one else is in there - you're not sure where they are - but he senses your presence, and it’s too late to leave now.
It’s obvious that he’s upset, but you don't know why. You’re not entirely convinced he knows what he’s upset about, either.
He’s a rising storm when he approaches you, thunderous fury that he unleashes with his sharp glares and fangs bared when he hisses at you. He doesn’t hurt you - he doesn’t touch you at all, really - but his presence is suffocating, like a heavy fog that blurs your vision.
You used to know how to help him - the Satan from your time, the one that’s the same and so very different. You don’t know the young demon in front of you that’s hellbent on tearing this world apart to find a place where he belongs.
Maybe you’re exhausted from trying to pick up the pieces of his fractured family for a second time. You miss being home with the demons you know.
You give him what he needs, an outlet for his frustrations, the only way you’re capable of right now. You stand before him unyielding, shoulders slumped with inevitable defeat. He probably doesn’t notice he’s already won and he’ll walk away and forget about this moment.
Until you go home again, you're powerless to do anything else but endure him the way he is.
Getting sent back in time hurts even more if the person you love has no memories of you, yet you remember everything.
Warnings: Emotional hurt, No comfort, crying, you basically go through your phone and remember sweet moments with your boyfriend you can’t have anymore.
Auhtors note: So as Satan is my favourite character, and Nightbringer is making me sad with some of the moments. I decided how to better cope that than with writing a small one shot. Also english is not my first language nor have I written for Obey me before but I hope you all enjoy this anyway!
.
You were lying in your bed in Cacytus hall, wide awake during the middle of the night scrolling through your camera roll.
It held pictures that now were more dear to you than ever before.
Whenever night came your thoughts were flooded with memories of the past, or rather the future, the time which you are originally from.
Solomon did his best to distract you during the evenings the two of you spend together.
He often offered you that he would take over the cooking so you could enjoy the evening after a stressful day of being a demon babysitter, luckily you always convinced him to either let yourself cook or to just order food, him still not catching onto the fact that you are doing everything in your power to hinder him from cooking.
The small smile that had begun to form on your face at that thought quickly fell as you scrolled to the next photo on your phone. It was a candid shot Asmo had taken of you and Satan as you were cuddling in the blondes room.
He had one arm wrapped around your shoulders, holding you close to him, a book in his other hand, though his grip on it was loose as he had fallen asleep along with you. His head was resting on yours, a content smile on both of your faces.
You felt tears well up in your eyes as you quickly scrolled further, though that only made it worse.
It was a selfie you and Satan took together, both of you had fake cat ears on your heads. You were smiling brightly in the camera, while he looked at you with a look on his face as if you had hung the stars upon the night sky.
Scrolling one more time, the photo now was one you took of him. He was gently holding a cat in his arms, cooing at the small ball of fur. You still remembered this day well. The two of you went to a cat cafe, and basically fell in love with a small black and white kitten that had a black nose. It was the one Satan was holding in the picture. It was so cute both of you couldn't help but to try and take it to the House of Lamentation with you. Sadly you were caught by Lucifer when your jacket began meowing.
Tears were now streaming down your face you wondered if you and Satan would ever be like this again? Now whenever he looked at anyone he was full of rage and anger, a look you only saw a few times before, and it had never been directed at you ever since the two of you had started dating. Now it was directed at everyone he came across, be it Lucifer, Asmodeus or you.
Of course you understood that he had basically been just born. He was confused and angry about his own existence, afterall he was the manifestation of someone elses emotions.
You weren’t upset or disappointed with him for acting like this towards you, how could you? He only knows this one emotion and can not control it yet, nor does he even know what other emotions felt like.
Though you did wonder, would you really be able to form a pact with him like this, so you could go back to the Satan you knew and called yours?
Would you even be able to get close to Satan like this? You may seem like a demon to everyone else, but you were still just a human. And Solomon never taught you a “Calm a wrath demon down so you can form a pact” spell.
Putting your phone aside you hugged one of your pillows close to your chest.
If you were in the present you’d now be snuggled against Satan as he holds you close and reads to you so you could fall asleep.
Burying your face in the pillow you were holding you began to sob. You missed these moments with Satan so much. You just wanted him to hold you again and tell you everything will be okay and that he is here for you.
You really hoped you would be able to somehow work all this out as fast as you can, so you can stop being a demon attendant and go back to your time, and back to your Satan.
Your hand unconsciously went to rub the place where Satan’s pact mark used to be, somehow the action still can provide you with a certain sense of calm, despite the mark and pact being gone and having to be reforged.
Closing your eyes as you were starting to fall asleep you hoped that at least tonight you wouldn’t have nightmares of failing your task and Satan never loving you again.
Though just like every other night since travelling back in time, you would be bound to have nightmares, only to have to pretend to be fine in the morning when you had to take care of the seven brothers.

you tremble, but hold steady in front of your fellow student. they were only helping - truly, they hadn't meant to knock your coffee onto satan's book. besides, it was your coffee. he should be mad at you.
"it was an accident," you say calmly. your heart jumps to your throat, clutching and closing it slowly. you gulp, "that's all. a simple accident."
the blond grits his teeth, his fangs digging into his bottom lip. "what's simple about a ruined book?"
"i'll pay for it-!" the demon behind you squeaks.
you adjust so that they're shielded once more. "i'll fix it. it was my coffee, anyways."
glaring green eyes look at you, the flames inside dimming slightly. his shoulders quake, fighting with his own emotions ; fighting within his own mind. "you didn't spill it."
"i could've," you insist, "anyone could've."
satan huffs and you swear you can see steam escaping his nose. before you can blink, you and the demon you were protecting are on the ground. the sight of blood hits you before the pain does. automatic tears fill your eyes as you sniff, bringing your limp arm to your chest.
at the sight of blood - your blood - satan snaps out of his rage. asmo is there, suddenly, solomon and simeon in tow. he glares at his younger brother, "what did you do?"
your voice weakens, unable to defend anyone anymore.
"Look at me, you're safe. And you're not alone, and I'll never let you be alone again, you understand?"- Beelzebub
"I made you cry, and I hate myself for that. I swore I wouldn't be one of the people who left you hurting." - Lucifer
"I can't take the very though of you getting hurt. " - Satan
"Please, tell me why you're upset. Tell me who did this?" - Asmodeus

LUCIFER !
it was an accident, truly. his patient mask had slipped and cracked, along with it came a flurry of insults he hurled at the nearest living soul in the heat of the moment.
he was harshly pulled out of his aggravated stupor upon seeing who his unfortunate victim was. now, lucifer was emotionally constipated by all means, however he was not a fool nor was he heartless. he realised what he said was hurtful, the kind of harshness one couldn't take back.
you spared him a final glance before turning on your heels and sauntering out the room, leaving the demon to wallow in his regret.
the lucifer prior to your arrival in devildom would've laughed at the emotional vulnerability, thinking that showing such dramatics would get you nowhere. he believed that he was a being above emotional outbursts.
fortunately, he knew better now. he was aware that his mindset was skewed and he worked hard to change for the better.
for once, the demon felt... lost and scatterbrained. he wanted to chase after you and apologise, confound what the others would think about his desperation. he would happily bring down the moon and the stars if you simply asked him to, even if it meant putting aside his pride.
yet, he wasn't sure if you wanted him to do that. he knew it was right to give you time and space, but was that something you wanted?
lords, this was bringing back his anxiety from his younger days.
he knew that he needed to apologise, one way or another. the only problem was, he didn't know how. should he go grand? bring you a bouquet of your favourite flowers and order all your favourite desserts from déjà vu or was that too much? should he prepare what he would say or would that seem insincere?
"fuck, what an utter fool." lucifer growled out to himself, two fingers rubbing circles on his forehead. "thousands of years alive and yet this is what causes you grievance?"
he figured that his best option was to apologise now, the sooner he did, the quicker he could work on fixing what he screwed up. so, he did his best to think of what he could say that wouldn't come off as tone deaf on his way to your room.
however, when faced with your swollen, red rimmed eyes and the tear tracks that trailed down your cheeks, all the words he had prepared disappeared from his mind. his mouth remained tightly shut as he took in your dishevelled appearance, regret piling up in his mind.
"i made you cry, and i hate myself for that. i swore i wouldn't be one of the people who left you hurt, and i apologise for not up holding my word." the words flowed out of him before his mind registered what was happening.
in the midst of his apology, he had wound up squeezing his eyes shut, his embarrassment and remorse getting the better of him. he heard you take in a deep breath, probably processing the uncharacteristic apology that spilled past his lips.
the silence shared between the two of you was deafening, shit, maybe this was too abrupt? maybe he should've given you more time...
before he could spiral further into his thoughts, your quiet voice reached his ears, "thank you, um, maybe we could, uh, talk it out in the morning?"
SATAN !
things between you and satan had been rocky recently. the two of you had an argument over something small and in the end, both of your tempers had blown it out of proportion. what started out as a silly, offhand comment turned into a hiccup in your relationship.
it had been days since the two of you last spoke to each other, it went to the extent that neither of you glanced at the other when paths crossed at school and at home.
obviously, it wasn't hard for the other brothers to pick up the weird tension between the two of you, mammon even going as far as to pull satan aside to ask him what the deal was with the tense atmosphere surrounding the two of you.
though, after learning about what caused the rift in your relationship, the brothers decided to stay out of it, which admittedly did disappoint satan, just a tiny bit. they told him that this was his problem to deal with, and while he did agree, he was hoping mammon or leviathan could've talked to you.
days slowly turned into a week and there was still no sign of an apology from either one of you. little by little, old habits were making their way back into satan's life.
he found himself spending most of his time holed up in his room, novel in hand and surrounded by the comfort of his books. despite how nonchalant he looked, in reality, he hadn't been reading the novel at all, mind lost in ways he could make up things with you.
a loud crash echoed throughout the near empty house, causing the unfocused demon to look up in shock. he knew that all of his brothers weren't home and that you were the only other living soul in the house at the time.
that made him spring up to his feet immediately, discarding his book somewhere beside him and rushing out the door to find you.
he was quick to find you, on the floor of the kitchen surrounded by numerous pots and pans. thankfully, it didn't seem as though you sustained a serious injury.
regardless, he rushed towards you with a new found urgency. "are you okay?" satan hurriedly asked, quickly looking over your appearance to see if you had injured yourself.
an uneasy silence took over, neither of you wanting to relent and start the conversation.
"i can't take the very thought of you getting hurt." satan muttered quietly, deciding to take the initiative and break the stillness that had washed over the two of you.
you finally made eye contact with the demon and the hesitance in your action made his eyebrows twitch in sadness? guilt? regret? maybe it would've been more accurate to say it was a cocktail of all those emotions combined.
"well, i'm not hurt so... you don't have to look at me like that." your voice held no malice, instead it was filled with awkwardness, much like your voice back when you first came to devildom. it felt like a punch to the gut, honestly.
nevertheless, satan felt relieved, in a way. at least the hard part was over and now all that was needed was a good long chat.
ASMODEUS !
a wolf whistle echoed from behind you when you twirled around in front of asmodeus' mirror, checking yourself out in the outfit he picked out for you. from where asmodeus sat on his bed behind you, he was openly eyeing you like you were his prey.
he skipped his way towards you, wrapping his arms around your waist and pressing a trail of kisses down your jaw and neck. "you look so pretty, hon! i could eat you up right here, right now!"
your giggle drew him out from where he had buried his face in the juncture of your neck and shoulder. "asmo, we're gonna be late." you sweetly reminded him, which resulted in a whine from the demon.
however, with a few grumbles under his breath, asmodeus relented. he wanted more than anything to have your sole attention on him and play with him all night long, but he couldn't lie to himself, an entire crowd of peoples attention on him was just a tad bit more tempting.
"you have to promise to play with me allllll night long tomorrow, okay?" the demon drawled out, holding both of your hands in his and looking at you with the biggest, wettest puppy eyes he could muster.
your loud laugh and bashful expression did make him hesitate, but luckily, you were already tugging him out the door.
hours later, asmodeus found himself in a buzz, surrounded by succubi and incubi alike, pressing themselves against him. he relished in the attention they were giving him, all of their lust and desire only fuelling on his drunken haze.
he had lost sight of you not long after arriving at the location of the party, got swept away by his adoring fans. he figured you were fine, you could handle a party, right?
that was until a commotion brought him back to his senses. he attempted to ignore it at first, it was probably another dumb brutish brawl between the succubi and incubi, nothing to be worried about. it was only when he heard something oddly similar to the sound of your crying did he take an interest in what transpired.
he rushed past the crowd of demons, no longer in a state of intoxication.
"asmo.. i'm sorry." the demon watched the tears fall down your face, his heart cracking at sight of you so distressed and drenched in demonous.
asmodeus shook his head with a new found urgency and closed the distance between the two of you. his vanity cried out at the feeling of the sticky alcohol against his clothes and skin, ruining his usual perfect image.
"honey please, tell me why you're upset. tell me, who did this?" yet, his sin, his bloodlust, flared at the gall of whichever lowly being did this to his precious human.
he tried his best at holding back his rage, his demon form ready to make its appearance. he would murder them, tear them apart limb from limb. he wanted to see them bleed, he wanted to see them beg for mercy. he would make sure they paid for what they had done to you, to what was his.
"the outfit- it's ruined... i'm sorry." your voice shook despite asmo's attempts to calm you down. it broke his heart to hear you so hung up over the fact that the outfit he handpicked for you was ruined, rather than the state you were in.
"darling, that's not what i'm worried about..." asmodeus looked at the demons surrounding him and you, making sure to look each of them in the eye. "let's get you all cleaned up, hm? there's a new face mask that i got and wanted to try with you!"
BEELZEBUB !
a human food bazaar was opening in devildom's plaza and no one was more determined to run the stalls dry of their stock than beelzebub. he had heard from a few reliable sources (definitely not barbatos and solomon) that there would be a variety of traditional foods from countries all across the human realm and who would be better at tasting all assortment of foods than the avatar of gluttony himself?
of course, he wouldn't go alone, he would need a companion to accompany him on this journey and there was only one candidate in mind, you. you weren't one to deny him either, not when his eyes were practically sparkling and drool had begun to pool in the corners of his mouth.
with that, the two of you had set off for your trip into the plaza. the crowd had been larger than beelzebub expected, so even though he wanted nothing more than to go on a rampage and absolutely annihilate the stall's stock, he came here to enjoy a day off with you.
he tightly gripped your hand, worried you would get lost within the sea of demons. he felt you squeeze his hand and when he turned back to look at you, you were already looking at him with a smile gracing your face.
"beel, honey, there's no rush. there'll be enough for you when we make our rounds." the demon felt himself calm down at the gentle reminder, the unnoticed tension in his shoulder slowly easing. he offered you a smile of his own before pulling you towards a stall that caught his eye.
this continued on for over an hour and you were at your limit. you had told beelzebub that you would find a place to sit and rest nearby, despite the puppy eyes he flashed you. he had waited to see where you sat down before running off the more stalls, this time with the thought to bring snacks the two of you could eat together.
when he returned with the snacks in hand, you were nowhere to be found. a panic immediately set in and a million thoughts raced through his head, where did you go? did you go willingly? were you okay? had someone hurt you?
he didn't know what to do, where to go from here. in his frenzied state, he put all his focus into his hearing, in hopes he could identify the sound of your voice amongst the sea of demons.
after a few minutes of adjusting to all the noise, he zeroed in on the sound of your sniffle not too far where he was located. he relied on the sound of your laboured breathing to track down where you had curled into yourself behind a wall, away from the main crowd.
the demon didn't waste time and rushed towards you. the way your breathing seemed frantic and your heartbeat was worryingly fast had him checking all over you, to make sure you weren't hurt physically.
"look at me, you're safe. you're not alone, and i'll never let you be alone again, okay?" beelzebub tried his best to say what he thought would help calm you down, his own anxiety beginning to build up. his first thought was to get his brothers, maybe lucifer or satan would know how to help, but the second you felt him pull away, your hands tightly clung onto his sleeve.
with your eyes screwed shut, you shook your head rapidly, "no, don't- don't leave, please."
no amount of hunger could prepare beelzebub for the pain of hearing you beg for him to stay. he could only watch and rub circles on your back as you tightly screwed your eyes shut in an attempt to control your breathing.
he held you in his arms until you calmed down, the only remains of your panic attack being your cheeks sticky with tears. you chuckled and wiped your eyes before glancing at the long forgotten snacks on the ground, "i'm sorry for ruining today, i got overwhelmed from the amount of people here."
beelzebub shook his head vigorously, "you didn't ruin anything. i had fun spending the day with you, even if we didn't eat everything."
you’ve told satan a million times it isn’t his fault. voice soft and kind and accepting as you press a steady hand on the base of his spine, ever so slowly moving up. and down.
“your wrath is a part of you,” you whisper soothingly, “and it’s ok that sometimes it spills out. i know you try your best, your brothers know too.”
but it doesn’t change anything. nothing ever does.
the sadness is still suffocating after he explodes and it pairs easily with guilt, eating away at the demon whose anger turns heat, pricking away at his eyes. he shoves his palms roughly to his face, swiping harshly at the tears. he doesn’t deserve to feel sorry.
sorry for not being able to control himself, sorry for being weak. he’d yelled at you with a harsh voice and even harsher words. if anyone is allowed to cry, it’s you.
maybe you do, maybe you don’t. satan doesn’t know, he stormed to his room as soon as his tongue spat and hissed and betrayed him. it’s easier not to face you, not when he loves you.
it’s a few hours of punishing himself, wrath entirely dissipated, when satan’s DDD rings. it’s you. the shock comes running through satan’s veins like a bullet. all he’d done and you still cared, giving the demon the time and space needed to cool down before checking on him. knowing full well that if he’d been mean to you, he’d be awfully crueller to himself.
satan takes too long to collect his thoughts, collect himself. his DDD stops ringing - and then, not even a second later, starts again. this time, satan surges forward to pick up.
