Sandwich Tern (Thalasseus sandvicensis). Family Laridae, order Charadriiformes.
The two birbs in the front. I'm not entirely sure what they were doing in these. It seemed like one caught a fish and was teasing the other one. Perhaps it's part of courtship, where one brings the other a fish gift?

Your food always looks amazing, any recipes/tips for bolognese and focaccia?
Thank you so much! I appreciate that! I practice a lot and I love it, and I enjoy making it look pretty, too.
I don't know why I haven't been sharing this, it seems so silly not to. Chloe and I always get stuck in these "But it's not ready" loops, but I'm trying to really embrace the fact that that does not matter at all, perfection doesn’t exist and I’m only boning myself by waiting.
I also don't care about being anonymous, I'm over that. We've all been doing this together for a decade now, you can know who I am and follow my stuff on other platforms.
We have a website with our current "Red Sauce" related recipes with more to come every other week or so, some fun swag and more to come if you're into that, stickers and t-shirts etc, and we have an instagram where we regularly post food photos. We're gearing up to do more videos and fun things in the new year. We had a video shoot last week that taught us A LOT.
There will eventually be more lifestyle stuff as well, a lot more beverage stuff in the works, but for now, it's mostly food.
If any of that interests you, the site is Sateportland.com and the instagram is @sateportland. There are a dozen or so recipes up there now, and we're currently workshopping another dozen that are almost ready that we'll add over time. Our plan is to stay in our Red Sauce block for a year, adding recipes through all of the seasons, then switch to a new theme every year so we can catch every season of ingredients in each theme.
The recipes are free. When we switch to a new theme, you'll be able to buy the old ones as a digital cookbook.
All our shit needs work and it's still in its early phases, but it is there to be enjoyed if you're into it.
We have a lot of plans for the future so it's all a little bare-bones-rough-drafty right now, but a big part of leaving our soul crushing life sucking jobs was to take a big breath so we could get back to our own work, and this is part of that.
One of the things we do is a video segment where we drink a bottle of wine, we decide how the wine makes us feel, what vibe the wine gives off, then we make a playlist associated with that vibe, tell stories and talk about memories related to those vibes, and we record the whole thing and archive the playlists. We were doing it during covid and it had a lot of fans, so we're reviving it slowly. It's very silly, mildly educational about wine (Chloe is thinking about going for her Sommelier test this year, she's studying a lot!). You might decide I'm totally annoying and won't be able to enjoy my stories anymore, so check it out at your own risk if you enjoy not knowing who I really am or how loud my voice is.
Eventually we hope to have some essay/writing/zine-esque elements attached, we're going to be doing dinners and live parties in town, we're partnering with our wine friends, we're looking at some pretty exciting stuff down the road, but for now it's just a fun little thing on the internet as we get organized.
If you make something from the site, let me know! Let me know if the recipes work or don't, show me a picture, let me know which ones are your favorites. We're learning as we go, and we are very open about that! We try to make the recipes as Home Cook friendly as possible, and we're always open to feedback for what's not working, as well as what is! And if you enjoy it, share it with your friends!
Thanks for asking, you finally gave me the push to show this to all of you, ha! I hope you're eating good!!
