Nils (gift for Saxitlurg)
It feels quite weird as I, who usually make paleoart, post my first art on Tumblr as not paleo one. Well, this is a gift for my friend @saxitlurgartblog a fanart of her OC, Nils. Drawing humans is EXTREMELY HARD for me. But.. when I found Saxitlurg’s art, I just thought, “he’s just a cutie and he requires to be depicted on fanart”. So I did this one, trying hard)
About the lady turning gold: Did all her nerves and organs and muscles and stuff still WORK as they were turning gold? Or were they turning into solid gold versions of themselves that don't work? Cuz that sounds painful af (sorry, I've been studying anatomy, and I'm just wondering how horrified I should be at her fate)
she was still functioning, it’s just that everything turned the color gold.
saxitlurg replied to your post: I've got a screening for anxiety and adhd in like...
i’m trying to arrange a screening, and i’m so relieved i’m not the only person with this fear
I think mine went pretty well. When I got home, I googled one of the tests they gave me, and based on how I think I did, I’m pretty sure I scored closer to the having adhd side.
I’m pretty lucky because my grad school offers all of these testing services for free. I meant to do it last semester, but my other health issues got in the way.
If you need some support, How to ADHD is a pretty great Youtube channel that’s been really helpful for me whenever those thoughts start to crop up. She also did a TEDx Talk about ADHD.
You know, you’re not so bad for a demon.
Yeah, and you make a pretty crappy angel.
Hehe… thanks.
…
CHARACTERS BELONG TO @saxitlurgartblog I DO NOT OWN THEM
soooo obviously these arent my characters but i hope it’s okay that have headcanons about them anyways?
idk i guess i feel like ira would probably have some pretty bad depression with their history and stuff. and since jorgen (the human) suffered enough from it to try and take his own life, i feel like he’d have a lot of sympathy for them, and as such jorgen (the demon) would unwittingly find himself trying to comfort ira, despite his typical uncaring nature.
anyway the inktober drawing you did with ira having a wing of demon magic made me want these two to be unlikely besties.
hope things arent too out of character :)
(also jorgen doesnt have a head in the second panel because my sketches ran together)
So I’m rereading this book called Gold of the Gods by this guy Erich von Däniken (If that name sounds familiar, he’s one of those guys that keeps popping up in Ancient Alien documentaries)
The book was written in the 70s about these tunnels in South America filled with various gold statues, relics, skeletons, and metal plaques with writing, and Däniken goes on and on about how all of this was OBVIOUSLY the work of ALIENS. (it later came out he never actually went into these caves and basically made up everything in the book)
But his leaps of logic are FANTASTIC. As a kid, I was terrified of this book and totally swallowed everything in it. Now as a cynical-as-fuck adult, it’s some of the most hilarious bullshit I’ve ever read.
You know how the ancient aliens argument is bullshit and insulting because it assumes that all non-European societies were just stupid? Yeah, Däniken is the worst of that.
I’m only on chapter 1, but some of my favorite gems so far:
-- “The passages all form perfect right angles. ... The walls are smooth and often seem to be polished. The ceilings are flat and at times look as if they are covered with a kind of glaze. ... As I [Däniken] was feeling and examining the ceilings and walls, I burst out laughing. ... ‘I’d like to see the archaeologist with the nerve to tell me that this work was done with hand-axes!’” -- (yeah, i’d like to see the archeologist with the NERVE to take non-European people SERIOUSLY!”)
-- “In front of us lay the skeleton of a man, carved out of stone. I counted ten pairs of ribs all anatomically accurate. Where did the sculptor get his knowlege from? As we know, Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen did not discover [x-rays] until 1895!” -- (and as we all know, there is NO OTHER WAY to see human bones except through x-rays. Before 1895, WHO FUCKING KNEW what was inside the human body? We’re made of ghosts and wizards, right?)
-- “So far, the entrance to this underground treasure-trove of human history is known only to a few trustworthy people and is guarded by a wild Indian tribe. Indians lurk unseen in the undergrowth and watch every movement made by strangers” -- (what is this, an Indiana Jones movie?)
-- “But it was not the large amount of gold that impressed me, it was the representation of stars, moons, suns, and snakes ... nearly all of them unequivocal symbols of space travel” -- (also signs of just... shit you see on earth every fucking day?)
-- “[The snake] was honored by primitive peoples -- all of whom were afraid of snakes.” -- (BULLSHIT! I CALL BULLSHIT, SIR! Or did I miss the part of the book where you talked to ALL ABORIGINAL PEOPLE EVERYWHERE to get their opinions on snakes? Because I have known lots of people from India, and they have all mocked us white people MERCILESSLY for being afraid of snakes, because that is so NOT a thing in their culture because there are SO MANY FUCKING SNAKES IN INDIA. (yes, that doesn’t represent everyone either, but it still disproves his argument in like 0.02 seconds) And I have never been to South America, but I know that it also has ALL THE SNAKES. I don’t know why, but this sentence just strikes me as especially dumb)
-- “So far there has been no profound investigation of the origin of snakes in myths and legends in archeological and ethnological literature” -- (Except that there have been! What do you think archeologists do? Do you think they just dig up shit and go “whelp, let’s call it a day! No need to think about what it means or what it’s trying to represent, people from the past just do random shit!”)
Sorry, I know this is long, but this book is just a train wreck and is basically pummeling logic to death with a sledge hammer. It’s infuriating, but also beautiful.
"Person who keeps a two thousand pictures of Nero in their pockets and stuffed in their drawers" vibe
Oh @saxitlurg you know me so well !! XD
I found a random empty space with lights. The director in me is screaming. ACTORS ASSEMBLE!!!
