My fic based on the Eleonora's falcon's whumpy hunting strategies is here! Summary:
For generations, a certain population of Eleonora’s Falcons have been observed learning to capture smaller birds by shredding their wings and trapping them in rocky crevices to have fresh food available later. In the Avian tongue, Eleonora translates to Elytrian. In the Avian brain, Elytrian translates to nightmare.
But while Avian Techno is dreading the moment he’s turned into lunch, Elytrian Philza hasn’t slept in three days trying to take care of his newborn. When the line between chick and chick food starts to blur, how will predator and prey handle it?

Design details below cut :) featuring lots of speculative biology and culture based on real birds.
General
Both species don't have feathers around their mouth for hygiene.
Evolutionary, they follow the
Their teeth are convergent evolution. They are not the same as mammal teeth.
We are ignoring the fact their flat faces are not the most aerodynamic.
Head wings are to increase mobility and the face aerodynamic problem. Somewhat similar to dragonflies where they have a lot more aerial precision, but doesn't allow them to hover.
Languages are grouped by Order. Some portions are instinctual, others are learned.
Avians
Avians are passarines. There are multiple species of Avian. Technoblade is based on colorful songbirds, but doesn't have a specific source.
Omnivores. Diet includes fruit, nuts, fish, insects, grains. Become more herbivores during migration because they can store long term.
Technoblade's feathers mimic the spears of a crown, with his back similar to cTechno's blue cape. His shoulders are very fluffy to mimic the fur of cTechno's hood, and because it's winter.
Evolved for long distance migration across the ocean. Their arms were primarily an adaptation for holding supplies during migration, but have found new purposes with the invention of society.
Because of their long head wings, Avians can't wear typical shirts. They also don't have a concept of chest modesty. The halter top is a way to carry more supplies while flying, and has a net interior. The sleeves are to keep their arms warm during migration. (and to mimic ctechno skin).
The long head wings make them incredibly agile in flight. Combined with their incredible endurance, if they can survive the initial attack they tend to do well.
Walk more upright than Elytrians since they don't have to counterbalance the same magnitude of wing.
Like to wear shiny stuff like gold.
Baggy drop pants to trap heat and because they don't tend to walk too much.
Can sleep with only one half of their brain while migrating so they're able to keep going.
Good mimicking abilities.
Elytrians
Elytrians are falconiformes.
Elytrians don't typically do the de-winging thing, it is a learned behavior within Philza's area (much like Eleonora's falcon). They find arms very useful for tearing while clutching the prey in their feet talons.
Nearly exclusively carnivorous.
Elytrians live further south of Techno's species, and migrate about a month after they've passed through.
Their general diet does not typically consist of Avians but instead other birds, or terrestrial prey like deer or smaller. They only eat Avians during migration/hatching season, targeting exhausted migrators.
The main hunting strategy is divebombing at incredible speeds. If they miss, they might pursue it little bit, but have a lower success rate.
As such, they have small head wings to avoid getting in the way of aerodynamics.
Small head wings also mean they can have more of a shirt! Tend to have sleeves, and don't cover up the chest because there's lots of fluffy feathers there, particularly in females. They don't have boobs. They're birds. That's. That's not how that works.
Females are larger.
Giant talons for ripping and shredding.
I uh did read articles about the Cretaceous–Paleogene mass extinction and stuff about gigantification and what not, but I think I'll stop myself before pontificating about the oxygen ratio in the atmosphere and potential gravity differences.......

Series: Part 1 of Too Often We Underestimate The Power Of A Touch
Summary:
After Tommy had to hide in a dumpster, he gets found by a friendly baker.
Nothing interesting could possibly come from this.
whats the. emeralds one about!!! the one wip with tommy and sbi :33333
I just spent like ten minutes looking for this print to make sure I was ranting properly about it before I decided I literally remember it fine so anyway. Sir, we don’t take emeralds. (Tommy/SBI)
the basis: Tommy works the night shift at a bakery near the edge of the city. Between the hours of 12 am and 4 am, the only customers that come in are cryptids and monsters from the nearby forest. They pay very, very well. The bakery is probably run by Niki, though she’d be a background character, and probably not show up like. At all.
writing this after I wrote the other stuff: I accidentally wrote the first draft of what would probably be drug out into two chapters. It’s under the cut. My bad. Designs (also under cut) are subject to change.
Um, first night he meets Wilbur, a man with no eyes who tries to pay with an emerald. Second night, nothing happens. He wonders if he hallucinated everything. The third night, he meets Philza, a man with black wings and bird talons, who pays like a normal person but tips him a crow feather. He’s confused, but the crow feather looks nice. Someone told him crow feathers are bad luck, but… the feather gives him a warm feeling. Fourth night, Philza comes back. He seems very happy to see that Tommy has stuck the crow feather behind his ear. Philza tips Tommy several more feathers. Fifth night, he meets Techno, a man with tusks and pig hooves, who pays like normal but tips him a golden doubloon. I dunno, he probably gets run out of town at some point, once someone sees the crow feathers. Philza, Wilbur, and Techno rescue him from the mob. They steal him away. Found family occurs.
Tommy moved to the city a few weeks ago, and started hearing the stories almost immediately. Everyone he talked to warned him away from the woods, with tales of what happened to people who stayed out too late or who walked near the woods after dark. The city seems to almost have a curfew, though it isn’t explicitly stated anywhere Tommy can find. Yet, like clockwork, at 11:30 the streets are deserted. The busses don’t run. People are inside, whether at their homes or somewhere else. Businesses stay open, sometimes, but no one enters or leaves. The entire city holds its breath for five hours. Then, at 4:30, it’s once again bustling.
Tommy doesn’t believe the stories, of course. It’s just superstition. He signs up to work the night shift (sometimes dubbed the cursed shift) at a bakery in desperate need of workers. It’ll be easy, he decides, to take the shift when there would be no customers.
Yet… there were customers. The first night, a man with tinted glasses and a brown trench coat walks in and orders a few loaves of bread. Tommy goes about his routine normally, until the man hands him a green gem for payment. He stares at it in shock, trying to tell if the man had just handed him an ACTUAL EMERALD. “Sir? We- we don’t take… emeralds.” Tommy looks up at the man, who takes the gem and removes his glasses the squint at it.
He has no eyes.
The man laughs, putting the gem back into his pocket. “Of course, of course. My mistake.” He gives Tommy a fifty dollar bill, grabbing his bag of things and leaving before Tommy can give him his change. Tommy stares after him. Maybe there is something to the rumors, he thinks as he stares at his shaking hands.
SBIWhumptober Day 1: Scars + Day 2: Superpower Backfire
Technoblade is twelve when his life is ruined.
There are programs, initiatives for the Gifted. For those granted otherworldly powers that are beyond the scope of mortal capabilities. Usually the Academy scoops them up when they’re barely children, sequestering them away to inundate them with shadowy, nebulous ‘training regimens’. Usually, none of them are seen again - they grow into Heros, their identities hidden and their faces masked.
Technoblade is one of the few exceptions. Somehow, he was never found. Never recovered by the Academy. And while later, he’ll realize this for the blessing it is, now all it means is that he is growing and young and powerful and has no idea how to control any of that power at all.
An accident seems inevitable. It always is, in these circumstances. The Academy has many flaws, but one rule holds true - without training, a superhuman is doomed for failure. And Technoblade’s failure comes in September of his twelfth year.
A lapse in temper, a lapse in judgment. A building leveled, and Technoblade himself half buried under rubble. It’s a miracle no one died, Techno included. A gift from the gods, the papers said.
But miracles weren’t enough to spare Techno entirely. His hands were mangled by the sheer force of the magic that flowed through him. The doctors said he would never channel properly again.
And with that announcement, the Academy lost interest. He was neither a prospective Hero nor a threat. No more powerful than a regular human, the papers said. Craft City’s brightest star extinguished. The gift we never knew we lost. Techno is left behind, with bile in his teeth and bitterness in his heart.
(They underestimated his determination)
~=~
Years later, a Villain will emerge with scars on their hands and an axe to grind, and the City will realize - oh. Oh.
He was never extinguished. He was merely, for a time, eclipsed.
I think that the most heartbreaking thing in Passerine was p!Phil not being there. My mans just left, and poor p!Wilbur, at 16 had to rule the whole kingdom without him.
I remember that the first thing that made me cry was p!wilbur having that fight at the table with p!phil (yep, daddy issues). It really gives us the first look on their relationship in the story, although it is batter at the end. it's only bc Tommy's death and they all have to step together as a family to bury him.
Yeah, it's just the saddest thing for me. i read Passerine when sadist anaunced their animatic, i did spoil tommy dying for myself so it was expected when i got to that part, but yeah it was a really sad and bittersweet fic.
That fic made me read more of them, and then i realized that i hated "bad father phil" fics, and just love my classic SBI angst, with happy ending fics, that have good and supportive father c!Phil in it. <3
LMAO i know that this is so random. Me? Talking about Passerine in 2023? NO WAY?!
But I was just rewatching some old mcyt animations and i came across one form "Kazuallyy", that i had never watched before. I remember that it was always in my recommend, but i never watched it for some reason lmao
But yes, i just watched it and NO ONE TOLD ME THAT THE SONG IN IT WAS "TWO BY SLEEPING AT LAST"?!!
I just absolutely cried my ass out lmao. I'm not okay!
anyways, as much angsty that fic is, i love the core memories that i have with it and it will always hold a special place in my heart, as one of the first and the saddest fics I've ever read.
Thank you if you read all the way through and listened to the mini breakdown that i just had. Well if you did, i hope that you have a good day/night wherever in a world you are rn! <3
The fabric on top of the cage was pulled off with a flourish. Technoblade flinched and closed his eyes at the sudden light. Gasps and murmurs and laughter grated on his heart as he struggled to clear his sight and mind.
“-we were able to procure an avian hybrid for your royal highnesses,” The auctioneer said finally. Technoblade squinted, trying to see through the blurriness of the brightness. “Pulled directly from the traded territory of the Retired Tundra, only began presenting as a hybrid one month ago! This hybrid's instincts are well within the timeframe to make a perfectly docile pet.”
Technoblade is an Avian hybrid. They are considered divine inside the Antarctic Empire.
He did not live in the Antarctic Empire. He lived in Hypixel, where the Hybrid Market was alive and well.
Technoblade is taken to be sold at the International Council, a meeting between many of the biggest kingdoms in the world.
He meets the Emperor of the Antarctic Empire.
