Week 8 VVCAL 2020 by Rachele Carmona Here is this weeks lovely squares for this edited version of the #vvcal2020 Beginning on the 2nd photo we have the Athens square being done in #scheepjesriverwashed yarn. The 3rd photo is the Havana square and what an interesting square it is. I love that little flower in the center. Such a tiny bud! The 4th photo is the edit for this #vvcal I’ve included the Raymond (Green colored) square from the VVCAL2016 and the Cedar Tree (Yellow color) from the VVCAL2018. Finished this Fair Isle style fingerless glove for Qian, my new Twigling Oryx. Still using that collection of Scheepjes River Washed yarn tiny 10g skeins. HAPPY MAIL! MONDAY Finally I have the Stone/River Wash yarn in my hands. Hehe so excited because I’ve never used it before and this will be used for a VVCAL blanket taking from all three years Mrs @cypresstextiles has created. So excited. However I’ve realized with this order that despite all my great efforts to get all remaining yarn needed for my blankets I forgot one. Yep one little Cotton8 color 671 Rust for my Callie Blanket. After discovering that even though I purchased as the pattern suggested and my measurements are right on target for the motifs of the hexi’s I seem to be short on yarn. So I went and purchased one more skein of each color to only find out today I forgot Rust 671. Now when I ran into being short I did the one thing I thought silly that some makers and creators do, buy a scale and weigh every skein. I found another skein in my bunch is 5 grams short which makes me think it may have happened in other skeins. Yes the things we do for our creations. This year I am managing to use many different Scheepjes Yarns. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to do so. I will get to use these Stone/River Wash yarn, cotton8 yarn, Catona, Whirls, Whirlettes, Bamboo Soft, Sugar Rush, and Colour Crafter! Oh and sooner or later Cagliari, I have the kit for Kaleidoscope Mandala by @hanjancrochet in the jewels colourway! 2018 was Year of Yarn for me. It kept my idle hands busy during some rough patches. Mom got this for my for Christmas. I’m figuring out what to do with this Scheepjes “sampler”. How freaking cool is this? I was thinking of a hexagon “squares” blanket.
