i love projecting issues i have onto tokyo ghoul characters. it's one of my favorite things to do. it makes me feel seen. but i have a really hard time projecting being on the schizophrenia spectrum onto pretty much anyone in tg 🤔 the only character i think even remotely fits is shikorae. and schizospec shikorae is not a concept i'm fully sold on.
i think many of the characters experience psychosis, which is comforting to me. but psychosis can be caused by all sorts of things aside from schizophrenia, even physical conditions, and psychosis is only a symptom of schizophrenia and doesn't near encapsulate the whole disorder.
it bugs me in a very minor way that i can't project it onto anyone. it's just a little personal grievance that pops up in my head at times. i'm not saying this is a fault of ishida or anything, i just think it's funny that there isn't anyone in tg i can see as schizophrenic despite it being my favorite thing cuz i can usually pick out one or two in any other thing i watch or read or play.
do any of you have any schizophrenia headcanons for tokyo ghoul characters? my ears are open! perhaps you could convert me.
Anyone ever thought about schizophrenic Soldier? It just really fits. He would think every passing car is Them out to get him. He would assume the worst of every microexpression. He would believe They (the commies? The nazis? Idk) are influencing his thoughts. Or that someone is reading them. He feels like a guy who hears a voice inside his skull like a sarcastic commentator who keeps sniping at his every move. When you look at the symptoms of actual schizophrenia (not the media stereotype that's just "generic hears voices") it all really matches him. I mean it's probably comorbid with a bunch of other thinks but like. Just think about it
Fyodor has NPD and schizophrenia
"i hc that fyodor has npd and is schizophrenic because."
Akutagawa and Chuuya both have clinical zoanthropy
"I think Akutagawa believes he's turning into a dog and hates himself for it. Meanwhile Chuuya thinks he is an animal and struggles with the idea of being human."
Q is a system with schizophrenia
"As a system who also had psychosis symptoms in childhood that were never treated I relate heavily to Q and their ability. I think they would have seen some things that impacted their schizophrenia and then influenced what they can cause people to see because they've seen it themself. Also their commonly fronting alter is an introject of their doll."
Image ID: An anime version of Q standing infront of the system flag by the entropy system.
The second image is the same picture of Q as the first but behind them is the striped schizophrenia flag by psychotic-pisces with the original flag being by madprideflags.
The divider is of the disabled flag but turned into a gradient.
