It sucks going to school when everyone else is on holidays... Well at least I'm getting things done so that's good.

I got called out for being zoned out by my translation teacher in front of everyone this morning, not a fun moment, but I deserved it to be fair, I really was zoned out. But I did get a compliment from my out-of-curriculum exam teacher so I suppose it equals out. At least I had my trusted instant ramen at lunch.

I'm working on my powerpoint for my presentation at a conference Friday, and I do enjoy that. It's very annoying trying to find good quality pics of miss trunchbull in the 1996 movie though. Love it, but you see it's 30yo in the image quality. Adding to that my own bias towards the musical version, I'm tempted to make all the illustrations from the musical but it wouldn't be professional when my study focuses on all versions of Trunchbull, so they'll have to accept the 25 pixels and apply juice (if you don't understand that last bit, log off and go study your tumblr classics /j)

For this weeks entry we have Stranger Things !

Stranger Things is a show I highly recommend, but only if you want to stop after the first 3 seasons.

3/5 star rating, I think it's a good show to get into if you like character depth and are interested in the downfall of writing/ characters. The first three seasons stay true to the show's outcast sci-fi vibe, but lose their plot after season three.

While I don't have an in depth opinion on season 4 of Stranger Things, other than it should have ended at 3, and 4 was an unnecessary continuation. In season 5, there were many inconsistencies, such as Will's previously established connection to the Upside Down, its ruler, and its demodogs. This creates a major plot hole because Will can feel the pain of the demodogs, but feels no pain as all three of them are destroyed.

I also personally feel as though a show that uses outcast and shows how being different isn't a bad thing and that you can find happiness regardless of challenges, lost its plot when the main character Will is backgrounded in his own show and while other characters get to have multi season long relationships he's stuck as the queer background character who's story line is the show "acceptance" instead of the ability to find love.

STUDY BLOG # 01

April 5, 2025 | On deadlines and calmness

My team and I processed the paper to get a permit from the Divisions School Office to properly conduct our research in public high school. We need to analyse teacher attributes in relation to their teaching environment. Despite the looming deadline to gather data, I felt nothing but ease and comfort and calmness. I don't know why but maybe... Instead of going against the deadline, I'm walking beside it.

We're almost done with our paper. We just need to gather data and do results and discussions 🥰

being a new student

pros:

nobody knows you, which gives you a chance to completely change yourself and become a better you

everyone loves meeting the new student, which gives you a slight burst of popularity in the beginning of the year. use that to your advantage and get as close to as many people as possible

there's loads of gossip to catch up on, and girls love nothing more than gossiping, especially if they have a new member in the audience (you) to gossip with

cons:

everyone knows each other, which might make it hard to integrate. just put yourself out there and try your best!

a few tips:

• try not to draw too much attention to yourself, at least in the first week. you want to be known but take your time getting there

• don't judge people based on appearances or first impressions. A lot can change

• avoid talking about people behind their back, even if you hate them

• be kind to teachers. you don't have to be a teachers pet but don't make their lives harder

• don't be scared of asking for help for anything

• until you're sure about who to trust, don't reveal any secrets/crushes you might have. that can seriously backfire

• if someone tells you a secret, tell no one. you want to be known as someone trustworthy

• don't intrude too much on any friend group during the first month, lest someone thinks you're trying to steal their friends

• be consistent with your routines, and never arrive late

• don't let yourself be peer-pressured

• don't be a bitch.
