National Novel Writing Month begins in only a few weeks and so it’s time to brainstorm ideas! Browsing through old photos I idled long over this one, being a lover of the ocean and the first sounds of what is going to be an interesting science-magic in my novel has been born. Alchemy as never seen? There must be other novels out there that don’t treat it like a bunch of crazy old white men turning lead into gold, or involving that particular Philosopher’s Stone.
In the Place Made Between the Mirrors She stood at the nucleus of the writhing and roiling tendrils. Shadow strands pushed against the dome of the earth and bright strands pushed back and shattered the dark into a scatter of rainbow shards which landed in the grey and bounced before settling. Her feet sunk deeper into the grey matter below, a slurp of dark and light falling in and pulling out, dueling for supremacy over the other. Crouching to her knees she buried her hands into the matter, digging deep as if it was wet sand upon the ocean shore of home. With a heave of effort she hoisted handfuls of the grey up and let the loose matter fly into the strands of bright and shadow which pulled back from each other to devour it all. A crack in the Mirror made, she jumped through and thumped back upon the earthly plane.
