Summary: Dewey's coworker set him up on a blind date with no other than you.
Pairing: Dewey Riley x Fem!reader
Warnings: insane amounts of fluff
Dewey was sweating at the idea of leaving the house. "How do I look?" Tatum rolled her eyes standing up. "You look like a narc. Come here." She unbuttoned a few buttons on his shirt making him look just a little less uptight. "Do I smell okay?" He lifted his arm making sure his deodorant did its job. "Ew. I don't understand why you're doing this." Tatum crinkled her nose secretly praying Dewey didn't get his heart broken. When he told her the news she was ready for it to be a prank. Something they could laugh about at work the next day. "I don't get it either." He picked the flowers he bought you up before he hit the door. "Make sure to tell her if she hurts you I'm coming for her." Tatum was dead serious and it made Dewey smile. "Will do."
He drove his mom's car because Tatum told him his jeep was "total chick repellent." Dewey checked his reflection in the mirror running over the usual lines for a first date. "What do you do for work?" He said the sentence several times making sure to get it right. You watched the man you're supposed to go out with talk to himself in his car. Gently you knocked on the window. Dewey looked at you screaming in fright. You jolted back with a scream of your own not ready for anything that just occurred. "Oh my gosh!" He said as he opened the door.
"I didn't mean to scare you." You spoke as he wiped his sweaty hands off on his pants. "No I yelled first. Heh..." He awkwardly laughed. You really had a thing for the shy ones. "You look handsome." You complimented him finding it refreshing there was still men who put effort into dates. "You do too. Oh- well you look pretty, very beautiful." He stumbled over his words trying to fix his mistake. You placed a hand on his arm calming him down. "Thank you. Are you ready to get going?" He smiled appreciating your kind nature. Just then he remembered the flowers in his car. "Oh wait!" He spun around pulling the small bouquet from the front seat. "Those are for me?" It was a rhetorical question. "Of course. Who else would they be for?"
Dewey watched your smile get bigger hearing his words. "I'm going to put these in some water and I'll be right back!" You ran back to into your house mentally cursing yourself for not dressing up more. He was attractive. The ironed button up he wore did nothing but favors for him. "Fuck he's cute." You mumbled as you placed the flowers in the tall glass you found in the cabinet. You check your reflection again before heading back outside. Dewey stood outside the car waiting to open the door for you. You bit your lip trying to quickly raise your standards. The man you just met couldn't win you over by just opening the door.
"Thank you." He grinned. "It's no problem." Dewey got into the car starting up the engine. "Do you like Mexican food? There's a neat little restaurant right in town." You picked at your fingernails nervous about how this could go. "Sounds great to me." There was an uncomfortable silence as he drove towards town. "Ryan told me your name is Y/n. I want to make sure I'm saying it right." You saw the slight tremble in his hands wrapped around the steering wheel. "Yeah that's right. It's Dewey right?" The man driving seemed to get embarrassed by the mention of his name. "It's actually Dwight, everyone at the station calls me Dewey. It's a nickname."
"What would you like me to call you?" Dewey tried to hide his smile. No one had ever asked him what he preferred to be called. Even when he corrected someone they still called him Dewey. "Well my friends call me Dewey." It wasn't really an answer to your question. "Okay, when we become friends I'll call you Dewey. Until then it's Dwight." The grown man nodded. "I like that." You both talked back and forth having the usual boring small talk. "What do you do for work?" "How long have you done that?" It was played out but you supposed it was a necessary question.
"Wait I'll get your door for you." Dewey said once he parked the car. He quickly walked around the car holding his hand out for you to grab. "Thank you." You said again walking into the restaurant. The two of you sat down immediately picking up where you left off. "You actually got a cat down from a tree?" You giggled making him laugh as well. "It was a slow day and the poor guy was bound to freeze." The image of Dewey trying to pull a cat from a tree was sure to last awhile. "That was very heroic of you." The waiter came up taking your drink orders before quickly leaving. "I like to think so." Dewey changed the subject towards you. "Do you have any pets?" As you answered Dewey listened to every word. Mentally taking note just so he wouldn't forget later on.
An hour passed like it was minutes. "You're lying!" Dewey held up his fingers. "Scouts honor." Your date talked about work drama and family stories. He seemed to have a story about everything. You both shared childhood memories and little facts about yourselves. Dewey worried when you first got to the restaurant. He didn't date in fact this was the first date he's ever been on. The way Tatum talked she figured it wasn't going to go well. She was always the more realistic person when it came to life. Dewey liked to see the better of people giving everyone their fair chance.
The waiter walked by dropping off the check. Immediately Dewey grabbed the little paper. "How much was mine? I've got cash on me." You always offered to pay for your food. Some men in your dating history had this idea in their head that if they paid for your food you owed them something in return. You happened to know you were worth more than a 15 dollar meal. "I'll take care of it." He smiled at you thinking it was sweet you even offered. "How much was it?" Dewey shook his head at you. "Don't worry about it." It was a kind gesture. Maybe gentleman still existed?
Once the bill was paid Dewey walked you back to his car holding your hand. You felt like a teenager again with butterflies in your stomach. He held the door letting you slip into your seat. You might actually like him. The car started as he rubbed his hand together. "You'll have to help me get back to your place since it's dark." He put the car in reverse pulling out of the parking lot. "Sure." The conversation never stopped. You talked about your favorite shows and movies while he told you about whatever he caught on TV the night previous. The view of your house down the road actually upset you. You wanted to continue talking to him.
"It's right there on the end." You pointed as he pulled up the the residence. "Don't worry about opening my door." You reassured him but he argued. "I'll get your door. My mom would kill me if she found out I didn't hold the door for a pretty lady." Dewey stepped out leaving you to quietly kick your feet. "Y/n." He spoke helping you out of the car. "I had a wonderful time with you tonight." Dewey once again grew nervous fearful of rejection. "I had a good time too. Do you think we could do it again next week?" You stole the words from his mouth. "Really? I mean- yes!" You laughed at his excitement as he walked you to your door. "Are you in the phone book?" He asked hoping you didn't need to write your number down. Dewey hadn't planned to get this far he didn't bring a paper or a pen. "Yep I'm under L/n."
"I'll give you a call tomorrow if that's alright?" Dewey thought about calling you when he got home but he didn't want to seem to clingy. "I look forward to it." He smiled that boyish smile you'd started to grow fond of. "Have a good night Y/n." He said as he started to walk back to his car. "Goodnight Dwight." The man turned around smiling as he spoke. "Call me Dewey."

hello love, can i request headcanons for if dewey was dating sidney’s older sister who’s his age and is also his childhood best friend?
Hi darling! Of course, I love your idea so much! I hope you enjoy the headcanons 💕 (I apologize for how long it is, I got too involved in this timeline 😌)
Pairing: Dewey Riley x Reader (Female)
Warnings: Swearing, MINOR SPOILERS for the first Scream (nothing major, just the relationship between the characters), AU (in this timeline Maureen’s alive and the there are no killings - If Anon would like for me to change that I will 😊)
Genre: FLUFF, Romance, Humor
- You and Dewey have known each other for as long as you can remember
- Your mothers were friends in high school therefore you were automatically best friends before you were even born
- Little did the two women know you two would become a lot more than just that
- Dewey was the shy, quite kid while you were the troublemaker, always dragging him into your shenanigans as well
- You were, however, forced into seriousness when two new babies entered the equation, your younger sisters
- Being Sidney’s older sister led to you becoming more responsible, doing well in school and becoming the best babysitter your parents could ever ask for, all at the age of just eight years old
- Dewey was in the same boat with you
- Tatum was born soon after Sidney and he too had to strut his stuff and put on his big-brother pants, swearing to always watch out for his sister and always have her back
- You two frequently had to babysit the little girls due to how busy your parents were so that meant the four of you would gather at one of your houses and watch cartoons, play with the toddlers’ toys, draw and paint etc.
- The difficult part was feeding them and putting them to sleep but it was a war you and Dewey won every time
- It was when you two entered high school that you were finally coming to terms with the feelings that were probably sparked up back in seventh grade but you two just didn’t notice
- How could you have noticed in between all the running around and keeping two four-year-olds safe
- When you went off to college, that’s when the other shoe dropped and it was unbearable for you both
- He’d see you date guys and immediately do his best to distance himself, ignorant to the fact that you were doing it in an attempt to get him out of your head and hopefully fall for someone else
- On one of your trips back home you spilled the beans to Sid who, oddly enough, already knew
- “Sis, I’ll admit, I thought you were brighter than this.” The at the time twelve year old girl said, making you roll your eyes, “I mean seriously, everyone knew before you and Dewey realized it.”
- Your eyebrows furrowed, “Wait, what do you mean me and Dewey?”
- That’s when Sid knew she fucked up
- With that slip she threw herself and Tatum into some hot water
- You were definitely not supposed to know that Dewey opened up to his younger sister about his feelings much like you did, but Tate had gone straight to Sidney to drop the 411 to her best friend
- It’s safe to say Neil and Maureen were quite concerned to see their oldest chasing their youngest around the house with a toy sword
- “Sid, you’re so fucking dead!”
- “Y/N, language!” Your mom had shouted, but all your dad could do was laugh
- “The language is what you’re worried about? Not the murderous tendencies?” He asked, earning him a smack to the shoulder from his wife
- As pissed off as you were at both Sidney and Tatum in that moment - and you were seeing red, that’s how pissed off we’re talking here - you certainly had more confidence about your feelings when you returned to college after your break was over
- You broke things off with the deadbeat boyfriend you had at the time and, obviously, the first person you told was Dewey
- “You seemed head over heels for the guy, what happened?” He asked you as you were chilling in your dorm, your roommate out with her boyfriend for the night
- “Did I really? I’m a great actress then, aren’t I?” You chuckled, blushing furiously but you luckily had your back turned to Dewey as you said that so he didn’t initially see it
- “What’s that supposed to mean? You weren’t into him?” You hummed negatively, “Why’s that?”
- You continued unpacking your stuff, “Cause I’m into someone else. Have been for a while now.” You said, mocking his terminology.
- The man’s heart was shattered once again, “Do I know them?” He asked and and you gave him an affirmative hum, “Why didn’t you say anything? I would’ve helped you out.”
- “You can’t help me, Dewey.“ You chuckled almost bitterly
- “Why would you think that?” He sounded genuinely hurt which made you quite mad cause he had no idea how hurt you’ve been all this time by his ignorance, but then again, you were hurting him with yours too
- This time you whirl around to face him and find him standing in the middle of your bedroom whereas he was previously leaning against the doorframe
- “Because you’re so fucking oblivious, Dwight!” You complained, tears pooling in your eyes much to your dismay
- A moment of silence fell in the room, leaving you to regret all you just said and make an attempt at circling around him to leave the room and the dorm
- And the campus and the city, you just wanted to run away from everything
- But that’s when he grabbed your arm and prevented you from making even a step further
- The man had decided to be brave finally after all this time
- That’s why, before you knew it, his lips were on yours
- He took a risk that made his whole body freeze up and it’s only after you reciprocated the kiss - which didn’t take you long to do - that he finally relaxed
- HIs free hand came up to cup your cheek while the other loosened its hold on your arm but still had a grip on you as if he was afraid you could take off running any moment
- That never happened though, and you confirmed that it won’t happen by interlocking your hands around his neck, bringing you both closer which seemed practically impossible at that point
- Eventually the lack of oxygen caught up to you and forced you to pull away, leaning your foreheads against one another
- “I’m not as oblivious as you think, Prescott.” You chuckled at his words
- “Shut up, Riley.” You didn’t leave it up to him whether he’d shut up or not, you made sure he did by pressing your lips against his
- You both were happy, no doubt about it, but no happiness can compare to the one your relationship announcement was met with by your sisters
- When I say they were jumping for joy and squealing your eardrums out, I mean it
- After graduation you two returned to Woodsboro and were soon employed in the police department
- Yes, both of you (Think Brooklyn Nine-Nine type shenanigans)
- And that’s when your sisters started dating their first boyfriends and you know what that means....
- You and Dewey got decked out in your uniforms and went to town on the two hooligans
- “If you hurt Tatum”
- “If you hurt Sidney”
- “They’ll never find your body”
- “They’ll be scooping your brains off the floor”
- “Understood?”
- “Got it?”
- “Yes, sir!” Stu was practically in tears by the time Dewey was done with his ‘vaguely’ threatening but mostly warning speech
- “Yes, ma’am!” Billy took it better, nodding in understanding you had a feeling was genuine despite your initial distaste for the kid, he didn’t seem all that bad
- They obviously ratted you out to their girlfriends who both gave you shit about scaring the crap out of their boyfriends, but you knew they secretly appreciated it
- If only you knew that those very boys you scared so badly would be a part of the crowd to witness one of the most important moments of your life...
- Your sister and Tatum were at Tatum’s boyfriend’s house for a party one night and you had just gotten home from work, perfectly on time to lay the ground rules
- “No drinking, no drugs, no funny business with Loomis. Got it?”
- “Jeez, Y/N, it wouldn’t hurt to leave your cop attitude at the door when you get home.” She teased but still confirmed that she’d follow the rules, kissed your cheek and was out the door
- An hour or so later, you get a call from Dewey who was still on duty at this time
- “Can I get assistance at Stu Macher’s house? I think someone brought some illegal substances into the party.” He asked you and you were up and out the door within seconds, not bothering to change out of your pajamas and just threw a jacket over top of them instead
- You’re not a reckless driver, but when your sister’s in the question, you’re prepared to grow a pair of wings and fly to where she is
- Unfortunately that’s not an option so you just sped the life out of your car all the way to Stu’s house, barging in without knocking
- “Sid?! Dewey?!” You called out, looking around the foyer and the living room before peeking in the kitchen where Dewey had the five teenagers lined up as if to question them
- “Oh hey sis!” Sidney sees you first due to Dewey having his back turned to the door but he whirled around the second your sister addressed you
- “Nice PJs, Y/N.” Billy teased from his spot in the line-up next to Sidney
- “Zip it, Loomis.” You narrowed your eyes at him before turning to Dewey, “Who’s the druggie?”
- “It’s not me, I swear to God, it’s not me!” Randy pleaded just to get an elbow to the ribs, curtesy of Tatum
- Poor guy clearly had no clue what scheme he had fallen into
- “None of them, partner. They’re all clean.” He motioned to the counter where random belonging such as jewelry and wallets were on display, “They handed me all they had on them.”
- You only see the small velvet box when Dewey reaches for it, that’s also the very second your heart attempts to do a somersault straight out of your chest but luckily your ribs prevent it from escaping
- “But um...I needed an excuse to get you here, without scaring you too much, of course...it’s not a question you can answer over the phone after all...”
- He got down on one knee before you, opening the box to reveal the beautiful engagement ring it contained
- “Now that you’re here, might as well make your trip worth it....so, will you Y/N M/N Prescott, do me the honor of making me the happiest man on the planet and agree to spending the rest of your life with me, as miserable as that may sound?” You barely registered the snicker from your sister and her friends as he continued, “Y/N, will you marry me?”
- “And you do not have the right to remain silent right now.” Stu tells you, cracking up his peers and Dewey as well
- “Why would I?” You asked lookin from him to the man in front of you, “I already have my answer....” You gulped back the tears of joy before speaking up again, “Of course I’ll marry you, you dummy. Is that even a question?!”
- The cheering that echoed throughout the house would’ve never been thought to come from only five teenagers and not an entire mob of them
- But you barely noticed it as you embraced and kissed your fiancée, the sparkle of the ring now dawning your finger
- You first exchanged hugs with Sidney and Tatum who, unlike you, were in tears
- “I owe you big time.” You whispered in their ear as you embraced them
- Little did you know, Dewey said the same thing
- Rightfully so, without their interference you would still be at square one

Pairing: Dewey Riley x Reader (Gender Neutral) {Platonic}, Dewey Riley x Gale Weathers {Background, Romantic} [Scream]
Warnings: SPOILERS for Scream 1,2&3, Swearing, Mentions of death and guilt
Genre: Platonic Fluff, Hurt/Comfort
- You and Dewey met when your family moved into the house neighboring to the one of the Riley family
- You both were five years old at the time, both about to enter the first grade and both very unfamiliar with the whole concept of school
- Your parents moved around a lot because of their jobs so they never enrolled you into kindergarten, hindering you from becoming as social as you probably should've been at that age
- Dewey wasn't much different, he himself was a very shy kid that rarely got along with the other kids in the neighborhood
- In his defense, they were all straight up hooligans that knew nothing better than getting into trouble
- That's another thing you and Dewey had in common: being rule-followers and overall goody-two-shoe's
- It's those very similarities that brought you two close when you started school, turning you both into chatter boxes around one another
- You had plenty of the same interests and loved the same cartoons or comic books etc. which left you with an endless supply of things to talk about
- Over time you started breaking free from your shell and attempted to help Dewey make new friends as well
- Even to this day you’re the more social one between you two
- When you were both eight, Tatum was born and you rascals were overjoyed
- Baby Tatum was already annoyed by you and Dewey since day one and that never changed
- Not when you babysat her as a toddler, not when you’d drop her off and pick her up from the local kindergarten or from school, not in her teenage years
- Never
- And when I say she was annoyed by you, I mean it in the best way possible
- She loved you like a sibling and always preferred you as a babysitter, knowing she could get away with more stuff if you were on the watch
- It’s not your fault you couldn’t say no when she gave you that tear-filled gaze and a pouty lip
- She also preferred talking to you about personal stuff like crushes and boyfriends while she turned to Dewey for help with school stuff
- It’s not like you couldn’t help her with that too but there had to be a balance in the dynamic somehow
- You remember all the times you’d wake up with her cuddled up next to you on the couch that was declared yours anytime you’d sleep over
- There were no questions asked: if Tatum had a bad dream, you were the one she’d go to, that is if you were in the house of course
- And when a bad dream, a downright nightmare became a reality, you couldn’t bare the fact that you weren’t there to protect her from it
- You couldn’t and still can’t forgive yourself for not being there, not that you could’ve known any of what was about to go down at that house that night anyway
- But still, you forced yourself to put on a brave face in front of Dewey who was light years more crushed than you were
- You were his shoulder to cry on while you cried into your pillow at night
- You were the pillar, he was the softie
- And he’d probably still be down in the dumps, or at least be doing a lot worse than he currently is if you weren’t there for him
- That’s why you’ve sworn to be by him every step of the way that you can
- Every time he’d want or need you there, you’d be by his side
- You were the one who first found out about his interest in Gale Weathers
- And you were also probably the first person to turn the tables on the reporter, asking her questions she wasn’t too keen on answering
- But you knew better than yo let her off the hook so easily
- You couldn’t let just anyone date your best friend
- You are as picky with his partners as he is with yours
- He’s probably got a point, though, you do have a bad taste in romantic partners
- You were also the first one to hit him square in the face with the fact that he was in love with the woman but he found it absurd
- And not even a week later he asked you to help him plan the proposal so...absurd my ass
- Needless to say, you had the chance to witness the proposal and be there for the first-hand experience of just how anxious Dewey can get when faced with a big upcoming event aka their wedding
- It reminded you a lot of the time he was about to accept his deputy star and official badge, he was sweating buckets all throughout the ceremony
- At least this time he managed to keep that bodily function under control as him and Gale exchanged their vows and were proclaimed husband and wife
- You were sitting front row on the groom’s side, hating your seating position because it left you with no way to hide the fact that you were tearing up
- And yes, you did tell yourself you wouldn’t do such a thing but alas you did
- And yes, Dewey noticed but luckily, in that moment, he couldn’t exactly tease you about it
- But don’t worry, Sidney, who was sitting next to you, did it for him
- Her and you had gotten closer over the last year with you having officially joined her protection squad
- She handed you a tissue, “Never pegged you for a crybaby.”
- “Zip it, Prescott, you’re crying too.”
- “I am?”
- Yeah, you were both crying which automatically brought tears to the groom and bride’s eyes as well
- You didn’t feel sorry though
- You wanted Dewey to know how proud you were and always have been of him, how happy you are for him and Gale and how quickly you’d sacrifice your own happiness for his
- You’ve neve been to vocal about loving people, but you showed it in your actions, and in this situation, your tears were more than enough to send your message across
- I’m so proud of you, Dewey. Tatum is proud of you too, I bet my life on that. You deserve the world, Riley, I haven’t told you this a lot in this lifetime so far, excuse me, I’m not good with words and you know it, but I’ll still say it and I’ll keep it short and simple....
- I’m so lucky to be able to call you my best friend, my brother. I owe so much to you and I’m not sure I’ll ever pay you back for all you’ve done for me. But since we never know what tomorrow will hold, I want you to know only one thing: that I love you, Dwight Riley. I love you, brother.
