in theory, i'm not opposed to kara having a civilian as her love interest, but so far, in all of supergirl media, william dey is the only one i've loved and think could be a long-term partner for kara.
william is fucking insane in the best way possible. he's insane in the same way kara is. william is a force of journalistic nature, the same way lois is. what makes lois so special makes william special too. his best friend gets murdered, so he goes on a crusade to get him justice. he moves to another continent just because he's chasing a story. he can't get close to anyone because he can't be fully honest with them. he wants nothing more than to get justice for russell, but not at the expense of others getting hurt. no one should get hurt because of him. he wants to protect everyone. and if anyone has to get hurt, it should be him, because this is his mission. this is literally kara's way of thinking when it comes to being supergirl.
william is also an immigrant, just like kara. and that's such an interesting aspect to explore. he's the only human love interest kara has who isn't american. he can relate to her in ways others can’t. he can understand her fully. and that’s something kara deeply wants in a romantic partner.
kara and william also share the same morals. they're like-minded people who can still challenge each other and bring out the best in each other. kara has a more emotional approach to her stories, while william’s is more logical. neither is better, it just depends on the situation whose method works best. also, both of them are polyglots, so there’s that too.
all in all, i think a civilian love interest could be a great fit for kara, as long as you make them truly relate to her.
.
I legit dislike Freddy but I never have the audacity to whine and bitch that others like him
some ppl just can't fathom minding their own damn business ig
Literally this Anon, it is the most basic respect possible in this fandom. We all have characters that ain't our thing and that is more than fine but don't go around being an asshole about it! Mind your business indeed.
okay it’s miral time AND im gonna miral inside and outside of tags because i have been gifted TWO excellent spirals. okay so. treachery paladin elianna. the thing is that. she Takes heroism oaths, and she means them she truly does! but they aren’t actually. her priority, they are not her number one and the quest she is setting out to do yes it fulfills these oaths but she is actively working Against her saints wishes. So her abilities manifest, and they’re treachery. and elianna is Apalled, she’s Embarassed by it, why Can’t she be the heroic paladin??? but still she has places to go, sisters to save, so she makes things work. and mechanics wise???? elianna would have benefited More from being a treachery paladin that by being a heroism paladin. the sole spell she’s cast has been expeditious retreat, which is far more in line with treachery despite heroism also having it, but she’s always used it to run Towards danger. and then there’s the channel divinity’s. Elianna hasn’t crit on a 19. the whole campaign her channel divinity has been up and active for as long as she can have it but... she hasn’t really benefited. either of treacherys channel divinity would have allowed her to deal far more damage through out the campaign, which is eliannas goal. to be strong. to win fights. where it falls apart though is the level 7 ability because might deed is So Good for elianna as a character but aura of treachery (which i do love mechanically) is just meh for her character. but still!!! much to think about.
Feel free on any of my blogs to go hog-wild on likes, or to scroll waaaaay back thru old posts. Some people have odd hang-ups about that stuff? And I don't get that? I mean if I put it here it's here, on the interwebs, for anyone to find.
I literally put it here for you to enjoy. So enjoy if you please.
Your theory might be possible, but it sounds like some Doctor Strange thing... everyone dies but hey! We have a magician who will reverse time a la deus ex
Oh, absolutely, it does. It’s very ‘Avengersy’!
And while I may be wrong about when Bran employs his weird past-rewriting abilities, I am confident that we will see these abilities come into play before the series ends.
The reason episode three makes sense to me is that the Night King is incredibly powerful. Sorry, but a far grander foe than Cersei Lannister.
Would it not be anti-climactic to say, defeat the Night King and then go deal with Cersei Lannister? I mean, maybe not. Maybe these people really do manage to survive with enough men to take down Cersei, too…
But the series opens on the white walkers. We’ve barely learned anything about them! And I’d personally much rather see Cersei FINALLY admit that she needs someone’s help. To align herself with the living after seeing the Night King, herself.
There is a strange quote from Ronald Regan that I love (I know, I know):
“Perhaps we need some outside universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world.”
Within the fandom, I’ve been complimented on my analysis skills as well as shaded for my tinfoil theories (can’t have my cake and eat it too, I guess lol). But I gotta say, while I practice occam’s razor all the time in real life, all the people we expect to die heroically before Jon kills the Night King in episode three is ungodly boring to me and a huge waste of GRRM’s creative genius.
This man’s a sci fi writer, give me some weird shit!
I mean hell, I don’t even want the Night King (or Cersei) to die! My pacifist ass wants the ending of Game of Thrones to be so sickeningly positive in its message, to show that people finding common ground and appreciating their differences can result in a peaceful kingdom.
Look, I know I’m probably wrong and I’ll eat crow in a few weeks, but until then, I’m going to live in my blissful ignorance and optimism! 🤪
