watching supergirl season 6 after literal years (took a break from the show) and I'm thinking wow kara and lena's chemistry is kinda undeniable, why didn't I like them before
then I remember how awful lena was when she found out kara was supergirl
don't even get me started on the fucking supercorp stans (btw? dumb name, karalena is literally right there), what the fuck did william dey do to y'all for you to celebrate his death?

in theory, i'm not opposed to kara having a civilian as her love interest, but so far, in all of supergirl media, william dey is the only one i've loved and think could be a long-term partner for kara.
william is fucking insane in the best way possible. he's insane in the same way kara is. william is a force of journalistic nature, the same way lois is. what makes lois so special makes william special too. his best friend gets murdered, so he goes on a crusade to get him justice. he moves to another continent just because he's chasing a story. he can't get close to anyone because he can't be fully honest with them. he wants nothing more than to get justice for russell, but not at the expense of others getting hurt. no one should get hurt because of him. he wants to protect everyone. and if anyone has to get hurt, it should be him, because this is his mission. this is literally kara's way of thinking when it comes to being supergirl.
william is also an immigrant, just like kara. and that's such an interesting aspect to explore. he's the only human love interest kara has who isn't american. he can relate to her in ways others can’t. he can understand her fully. and that’s something kara deeply wants in a romantic partner.
kara and william also share the same morals. they're like-minded people who can still challenge each other and bring out the best in each other. kara has a more emotional approach to her stories, while william’s is more logical. neither is better, it just depends on the situation whose method works best. also, both of them are polyglots, so there’s that too.
all in all, i think a civilian love interest could be a great fit for kara, as long as you make them truly relate to her.

My last poll wasn’t organized as well as it should have been. I got lazy and condensed way too many possibilities into the “Other” option. I know the primary reason why people voted that way but it still felt too chaotic. I tried to be more thorough this time around but I’m still sorry to the rarepairs I couldn’t include in a 12-answer max poll. I saw a handful of people mention some poly ships but unfortunately, I couldn’t include them either for the same reason. Similarly, I also eliminated the “show me the results” option. You want to see the results, you gotta vote lol.
BEFORE YOU COMMENT: Cat Grant isn’t included because I already know that she’s the second most popular Kara ship. I knew that even before my last attempt at a poll and probably shouldn’t have included her then, even as an “Other” option. No hate to the people who like that ship, I’m just more interested in seeing people’s preferences beyond that.
Because doing this with Legends was fun and everyone on Supergirl is also a little bit gay.

Things I didn't like:
The shift in worlds was kinda abrupt, and unexpected. While I like the crossovers before they didn't change the cannon of the actual shows that much, at least not Supergirl, but now everything just changed mid-season.
Where was Nia this whole season??????????? I swear she got maybe one episode where she wasn't just in the background. And getting dumped like that.... My girl deserves better
Why did they get rid of James?????? Why??????????? We didn't even get to see a James and Winn reunion!!!!! My heart needed that!!!! Also, I need my Guardian. UHHHHHH bring James Back
Kelly and Alex's relationship deserved a bit more focus. Also, nothing on Alex wanting to be a mom. At all.
Andrea's advertisements. Don't get me wrong, I loved her character, but every time she turned on her advertising voice I wanted to punch her
Is Brainy alive? Why did the show end without showing how he ended up? If something happens to him I'm throwing hands
Things I liked:
All the old characters coming back!!!! Mon el, Sam, M'gann, and of course, my favorite, Winn!!!!!!!!!!! They brought back Winn!!!!!! I know it was only for a few episodes but I will treasure them all with all my heart
Lena and Kara's relationship development. Oh my goooood. One of my issues in earlier seasons was that I felt like there were issues (Kara lying, Lena making Kryptonite, Kara asking James to spy on her, Lena working with the government) that were never really resolved, but we finally got to face them!!!!! Oh my god I loved the way it was portrayed they both hurt each other so much but also loved each other so much. And Lena showing up at Kara's apartment crying uh. Cinematic perfection
William. I loved William. He was sweet, smart, and he bakes! I'm a sucker for a guy who bakes. He's kinda a bit too perfect ngl but I liked him nevertheless. Just not as Kara's love interest. Partly cuz supercorp forever, and partly cuz I wanna date him.
M'gann!!!!! I know I already mentioned her but I really hope she stays next season. It was good to have her back. I missed her
Lex Luthor is an amazing villain. I can't wait to see his demise due to his own ego (please let this happen)
Leviathan. I'm a sucker for secret societies that manipulate from the shadows, and have eyes and ears everywhere. My current WIP is like that, and now I have some more ideas, which is awesome
Kara getting the politzer as she deserves
Lena's character arc, realizing she can't solve everything, that she can be more than her family name without creating these huge technological situations
Lena's speech to Kara when she betrayed her was so powerful. It hurt but it was amazing
The episode that focused on transphobia. At least there was one where Nia got to shine
Eve's whole arc! From manipulated by leviathan to getting a reunion and a redemption arc! I love that queen
And I think that's it! Thanks if you read this long rant. I think I'm going to quickly watch the new season of young royals before starting season 6, but I'm so excited!
