Ok so another bullshit *theory* more like an interpretation/prediction I have had for a little while on the roaring knights identity, but I’m not gonna get as deep into the evidence for why Rudy and Carol as a whole, but I’m still addressing evidence and ideas that I haven’t seen anyone else cover.
Also I’m gonna call this The Duo Knight Theory
Spoilers for Deltarune chapter 5 btw (and Deltarune as a whole but, you get the idea)
Ok, so, one major idea I’ve had for a while regarding the knight’s identity is a fusion between Carol Knight and Rudy knight; in other words, they’re both the knight. Rudy knight is just more up front and active in his role as the roaring knight, meanwhile Carol is the one who’s usually working behind the scenes and organizing the game plan, being the mastermind behind everything. However, while that theory would already seem to be common sense in the lens of Rudy Knight (because we know that Carol has got to be very much involved in whatever’s going on with the knight) I think it can also be taken a step further, as at some point Carol is going to have to get her hands dirty as well and play the role as the roaring knight herself, especially given that Rudy “fell down” at the festival as a way of saying he’s in critical condition in his illness or that he literally fell on his ass off the ladder which would explain why Kris had to improvise by making the flower king fountain themselves, (speaking of which why did ANYONE let this sick ass man participate in decorating the hall WHILE STANDING ON A 10 FOOT TALL LADDER) and even still the knight shows up to kidnap Asgore and take him to the shelter at the end of chapter 5, just like with Undyne. That being said, even if Rudy had managed to somewhat build back his strength and make a quick trip to flower king and run off with Asgore because bro is one to lock in like he did at church (and his dark world form still gives him immunity and more endurance), I still think it would be more realistic if Carol was still the one to fill in for him because she would rather her husband get his rest instead of over exerting himself like he already did at the festival.
Also this is a random thought I just had, but what if Rudy preferred taking action as the roaring knight more often instead of letting Carol do it because being the roaring knight is the cause of his illness, and he doesn’t want his wife to get sick to the point of putting her health at severe risk as well? This would explain why, if we had seen Carol in any of the events of chapter 3, 4, and 5, then it would explain why she was likely in the circumstance where she was more non confrontational with the fun gang and was quick to get away instead of engaging in battle after battle with them—same in Rudy’s case with his weakness from being ill.
I heard that there was a theory going around about the multiple knights theory, and I think it’s major point has to do with how the knight acts differently in the cases when its confronted by the Fun Gang (acting sickly and aggressive in chapter 3 while literally aura farming, keeping distance from them and acting cocky in chapter 4). I’m not too deep into this specific slice of the theory of the roaring knights identity for their reasons provided, but I’m invested in the possibility of it for other reasons, the biggest reason being this cutscene card we see in the climax of chapter 2:
For the longest time, or at least before chapters 3 and 4 came out, we’ve believed that all three beings in this screenshot were titans. However now that we get a look at the Knight’s design,
They seem a little too similar to the beings standing side by side the center titan, to which they are much more accurate to an actual titan we’ve encountered in chapter 4.
All of that, along with other pieces of evidence and reasons for Carol knight and Rudy knight that you can find out for yourself by watching Deltarune knight theory videos you can find on YouTube, AND with their motivations obvious for being the knights simply because they are on a mission to find and bring back their missing daughter, leads me to my biggest interpretation on the knight and what their goal is.
Rudy and Carol plan to bring upon the roaring, that is the end game, but for now they are specifically testing the waters of the functionality and stability of dark fountains, how they work, and their properties and products. Who knows why they’re also kidnapping the police, like Undyne and Asgore, except maybe to grind whatever more information out of them that they can get to broaden their knowledge on dark worlds, although also to likely have one of them as a sacrifice like Undyne (rip my goat). Eventually however, yes, they will bring upon the roaring, as foretold by the prophecy, but they’re doing this specifically in order to summon a titan, likely in the entire open town as that’s the biggest canvas they will be able to work with, but more specifically because it won’t be isolated like in a single building. They need to summon a titan to perform as a vessel for a soul, a soul that they had to summon—specifically a pre existed soul that had been lost or out of bounds—via ritual which would include sacrifice (Undyne), but why? Why do they need such a major, powerful vessel for a soul that had once existed but was then considered lost?
It all circles back to December.
Also we can go even further with this already batshit wild prediction, especially when you remember when we, the player, have made a seemingly throwaway vessel that the games code still holds onto which implies it’s significance and eventual return later in the game: the goner maker vessel.
This also further deepens the nuance of my other favorite Deltarune theory of Dess being a human herself. Another human adopted by a family a monsters as a parallel to Kris, and her identity being a major reason as to why she and Kris had a closer relationship together because of their shared circumstances and their relatability. It would also make sense as to why her disappearance affected Kris greatly, as not only could Kris have been the one to witness the tragedy that unfolded and resulted in her disappearing and live on with survivors guilt, but also because they lost the most important role model figure in their life, the only other human in town.
TLDR; Carl and Rudy are a duo of roaring knights who plan on unleashing the roaring in a desperate attempt to bring back their missing first child AKA a human they adopted who had been taken away by supernatural circumstances involving dark worlds by turning her into a titan monstrosity. Lunge for my throat if you want but personally I think Titan December would go hard.
(This is my biggest theory on top of my newest favored theory of Kriselle amalgamation knight theory, because that theory unfortunately slaps some ass hard too)
I feel like you'd like Trenton's Rudy Knight Theory
