“I didn’t want to be your hero,” Niamh whispered. “I just wanted to be your anchor.”
The sea, of course, doesn’t care what you want. It always takes what it’s owed.
Even though I have urban and paranormal fantasy down as my main jam here, I do have a secondary fantasy world that I’ve written some shorts in. It’s honestly pretty well-developed, it’s just that I turned towards liking urban fantasy more.
But I decided not to limit my output so here’s my first short story written in there. It does have a strong paranormal ghostly aspect to it of course.
Twilight falls as the hardy crew of sea adventurers approaches the abandoned island. Don't call them pirates. They're vandals. Taking advantage of lost loot in unexpected places. This island is deserted. Once occupied by a lord and his family, it's now empty. But what riches might the lord have left behind?
Riches...or nightmares.
Baldric and his crew are sailing in to find out.
