Losing sight of what was real,

Racing through my darkest dreams,

As they entrapped me within these nightmares,

Portraying less endearing images,

As they lay bare of what is to come,

Overbearing my soul with carrying this curse,

Of being shown the fate of those close to me,

Constantly waking up in screams,

My body shivering from the cold sweat,

Seeing all that is invisible to most...

THE WITCH OF THE FOREST: 6. sealed fate

for zelink week 2024 @zelinkcommunity

The witch sneaks through Lorule Castle Town, searching for clues to Link’s whereabouts.

Zelda had never left the forest before.

Even so, she ran through the woods without hesitation, still guiding the dense leaves out of her path and jumping over rocks and avoiding unassuming wildlife. Navi tucked herself into the hood of her cloak.

She knew the general direction of the castle, having a stash of maps back at her cottage that she frequently looked over, but she couldn’t pinpoint its exact location.

“Navi,” she said, “fly up and see if you can spy the castle from here.”

“Got it!” Navi whizzed to the treetops until she disappeared from the witch’s view. She was back in a matter of seconds. 

“Zelda, we’re so far away!” she whined. “We aren’t even close to being out of the forest, and once we do get out, we have to cross a fiery prairie! But then we’ll be in the city surrounding the castle.”

The pair stopped running and Zelda hummed in thought, pinching her chin between her fingers. “What to do, what to do…” she mumbled while she paced back and forth. Navi’s wings drooped in hopelessness. The fairy had no idea what they could do to get there faster, but time was of the essence. She needed to think…
