Her jaw began to quiver as he spoke. To say she wasn't unpretty, that might have been kind of him... It meant he did find her attractive in some way... Or was it an attempt at showing pity for her? However, what he said next was like a slap in the face. He might have been flattered, if not for something that she tried and tried and tried - tried till she was blue in the face - to change, yet still couldn't quite escape. For the first time, Mey-Rin truly felt angry with him. What did perfect Sebastian know about it?! He was good at everything! Nothing was ever difficult for him! But she was only good at shooting people. And he knew that from the night he found her. It was his idea that she be a maid. He should have known she'd be lax at best. Perfect people like him couldn't understand what it was like for people like Finny, Bard, and her; what it was like to be less than human, to be killing machines and nothing more. She wanted to scream at him, smack him, even. But that was not her. Despite her skills as an assassin, she did not take any pleasure in cruelty. Mey-Rin would meet his hurtful words with strength. He knew her secret now. Why withhold any other feelings? Fetching the handkerchief from her apron pocket, she brought it to her face. Pushing her spectacles up slightly, she hid her eyes, nose, mouth, and chin. Just as he had advised the day before, she wept into it, letting it soak up the profusion that began to fall. "It's not that I am careless," she began, keeping her voice low. "I care very much so. It is... something I scarcely know how to describe. There is something that causes me to trip or drop things, regardless of how circumspect I try to be. I have such trouble remembering things, I get things backwards, and I cannot see like other people can." A hard sob forced her to pause. "But I am capable of more. Something you may not have seen. "There's something I can do, something I have always done." As she finally began to speak freely (had she ever been able to do so before in her life?), Mey-Rin found her thoughts coming easier. She recalled that she had improved a great deal since arriving at the manor. And her anger was transforming into something else... "I can get back up. Nothing has ever kept me down. No matter how battered and bruised I am, I get back up on my feet. I won't give up." Lowering the handkerchief, she tucked it and the note into her pocket. Her still teary eyes meet his with steely determination. "I will not be beaten, Sebastian. I will keep striving till the day I die." Despite how red and damp her face remained, her lips were upturned in a proud smile. "If you can't appreciate that, then I pity you." With that, she side-stepped him to resume her path.

His brows crept higher and higher as she'd spoken to him, surprised that she hadn't crumbled to her knees and wailed as she might had she broken a fine set of china instead of her own heart. It was far too easy to forget that behind those glasses lay The Owl, the urchin assassin who'd snatched survival from the jaws of the Qing Bang for over a decade.

Trauma woven with determination, a thread of hope clutched in a hopeless situation, that was the scent that made a soul most alluring. She was but a distant waft compared to his Master's fragrant bloom but his tickling fangs nonetheless appreciated her display.

He smiled faintly as she walked by, nodding acknowledgement at her words as a perfect butler should. "I expect nothing less from a Phantomhive servant." He murmured before stepping back onto his own path, parting

Why, if she were less of a menace to his schedules he might even have admired that she finally found the nerve to stand up to him.

Complications part three

Her eyes darted off to the side, staring at the wardrobe in that particular room. "Whenever we are together... You... service me... And then you say something sweet..." Her voice then picked up a little. "I's not complaining about that. I do enjoy it, but..." Mey-Rin gave a heavy sigh and reverted back to her glum tone. "That's all... Then we go on about our day, till the next time." She nuzzled his palms, yet persisted in her frowning. "You don't let me do anything to you. And it doesn't go any further. We don't get in bed or undress. You haven't told me that your feelings for me have grown. We haven't even had a real conversation till this." Looking at him finally, her eyes began to well up. "It doesn't seem right. Am I not pleasing to you? Are you only trying to keep me in line? Because you think I will cause a scene? Or that I might quit and try to find a man who will actually marry me? I don't want our relationship to be an obligation in your mind."

His hand stiffened against her cheek as his expression sank into the tight-browed blankness of suppressed irritation. She was partially right - his feelings hadn’t grown and he was trying to keep her in line with his sweet nothings - and it disgusted him that she wouldn’t take what she realised she was getting.

He withdrew his hand. She didn’t like his carrot? She could have the stick.

"You can just say so if something I do is not to your liking. I will stop." He mimicked her voice down to the nasal rasp her heavy glasses caused. "Conversely, if there is something you would like me to do, say the word and I will obey."

He dropped the imitation back to his own voice, the tone he took on when visibly calming himself to issue orders after she caused yet another disaster. “As I told you on the rooftops, I have never loved, but Mey-Rin, I’m trying for you.” Guilt, he was sure that would sting. “Second guessing my sincerity is not to my liking, so let go of this ridiculous notion that how I express my desire for you is nothing but an elaborate lie.”

after meyrin gets used to sebs midnight visits and it becomes a regular routine she starts getting a little more adventurous and seb lets her be in control sometimes. he notices that she rlly likes it when he moans so when he brings up the idea shes too flustered to reply but she cant stop thinking about the image of seb falling apart as she fucks him like how she does when seb fucks her. and oh boy is mayrin glad she took up his offer because watching him rolling his eyes back as he moans while spreading his legs more is just mesmerizing. also.
