In the middle of the Imperial City
Did You Know: During the late Second Era the Companions suffered from a series of false and dishonorable Harbingers in control of Jorrvaskr? In response to this, Kyrnil Long-Nose gathered any true Companion he could find in the wild to storm Jorrvaskr. After killing the fallen Companions and their Harbinger, Kyrnil established the Circle to act as advisors for the Harbinger and to serve as role models for younger Companions.
2nd of Frostfall, 4E 210 (211?)
Most esteemed High Chancellor,
Thank you for the advice, which was much appreciated. However, I will not be able to put it into practice as we no longer have an Imperial presence in Morrowind (The other tip I may have done last night, considering this morning I was rudely awakened by my manservant Dorian on behalf of a local innkeeper and asked to clean up the table I used there, despite House Hlaalu no longer existing.).
I suppose I should ask you something you CAN answer - what is it like in the Second Era? Is there something you'd want to be remembered for? How about the rest of the Elder Council? From the viewpoint of a thousand years later, it appears to have been quite chaotic considering there are very few surviving records of the time between Empress Regent Clivia Tharn and Tiber Septim, the founder of our current empire... (Technically it could be said that there is a new empire because the Mede Dynasty has been on the Ruby Throne since about 2 decades after the fall of the last one. I am glad there is peace in my time, even if it comes at the cost of High Elven leaders bullying us into giving up one of our gods... Oh, but that concerns Tiber Septim. It's a long story.)
Where may I find one of these "Web devices"? They sound like amazing Dwemer technology.
Sincerely,
Marcus Tiberius Quintus of Cheydinhal
P.S. I don't know what would make a good gift for one of the leaders of the Elder Council during societal collapse... I suppose 5 large, thick, hardy rolls of parchment might be useful?
So sorry to hear about House Hlaalu. They were bastards, but at least one always knew where he stood with them: in the treasury.
The Second Era is indeed quite chaotic I’ve seen the fall of the Akaviri Potentate, which wasn’t as great as the Reman dynasty’s rule was, from what I gathered from the records, but it was not bad. In fact we have not yet experienced a period that would beat it in the quality of life since.
The prevalent feature in the last 150 years is lack of stability, and it is spiralling more and more out of hands. The only thing one can be certain of is war and some sort of disaster.
Currently Varen Aquilarios is on the Ruby Throne and at least the situation in Cyrodiil is stabilising. After the three generations of the Longhouse Emperors, each of them a disaster in a different way, this land is exhausted and we the Three-Banner was like a civil war fought by proxies. They have taken it out of our country at least.
Right now Tamriel is tired. We have been fighting daedra, each other, more daedra, dragons, even more daedra, vampires, werewolves, and sloads. It is a miracle we aren’t suffering a continental famine. The Khnatean Flu is on decline through it all, but it still spikes up here and there; whole abandoned ghosttowns where the plague still lingers are a common sight - burning the places does nothing. As a result of the attempted Planemeld and Planemeld Obverse the geography has changed whole places are missing, leaving scars and seams behind, places from Oblivion have been pulled forth and are in the process of being overgrown. The population is at its lowest in this Era, and that includes the largest rage of the Khnatean Flu.
As for the devices, they are not of Dwemer origin. You might want to search old shrines dedicated to Mephala instead, or to Vivec. In Elsweyr at least they were known as the Tablets of Silks and had something to do with attunement to the Lunar Lattice.
Not sure how about your Elder Council, we here appreciate strong wine. Currently what is left of the Elder Council for the large part refuses to work sober.

Arvs-Drelen wasn’t really a tower. Revus had once told Talasse to ‘meet him in his tower’, but it wasn’t a tower. It was some old stone building on the edge of town, but it did have a high roof. Talasse had heard him call it a tower to some poor wandering mer, and it took more self control than he wanted not to snort and laugh at the idea. He wasn’t in his uniform now. He was undercover, as he liked to call it, in yet another drab mostly blackish leather outfit that would suit just about any long term traveller. His guise, for now, was a private resource collector for the local Telvanni. He went out to get mushrooms or whatever Revus needed.
As such, he absolutely got away with staying in Revus’s home. There were more than a few rumors that he wasn’t actually a hireling, but they leaned more towards the… honeyed friend variety. Talasse didn’t mind. He knew he was a good looking guy. He’d tailored himself to be good looking. And Revus... Well Revus was someone he wouldn’t mind being honeyed with.
He was leaning on the mantle of the fireplace when Revus came home for the evening. He hated the stupid Redoran mer who supposedly ran the place, and he avoided going to the corner club for fear of starting shit. The nord foreman was a smart man, good and down to earth, but he was also suspicious and wasn’t keen on conversation with the Telvanni’s “hireling”. Talasse turned, his profile caught in the firelight, and smiled at Revus. “Hey there, stranger. Bring home any more bugs?”
I really need Second Era/ESO Sotha Sil fics

Did You Know: The First Era lasted 2920 years, ending with the destruction of the Reman Dynasty and the beginning of the tumultuous Second Era? Here's to our next 900 years before the Age of Chaos arrives!
@aurielswaywardson Razum-Dar had lamented how his job had shifted into a desk job over the past fourteen years, but he couldn’t deny that his position so close to the Queen’s home came with perks. Perks like no long uncomfortable ship rides on his slowly aging back. Cariel, now, was his top agent to learn things, and Talasse was his top do-er. But this order hadn’t come from Razum-Dar or Ayrenn.
His husband caught wind of a group of Aldmeri marines captured and likely tortured just north of Reaper’s March, and without a word Talasse left to rectify that the best he could. The man who let it slip was not a boasting fool. He was not a Colovian decked out in brash regalia. No. He was merely an Imperial who had bravely approached a battlereeve to ask for help.
