Holly Poly 2025 Schedule Is Up

Holly Poly is, as the name implies, an exchange for polyamorous relationships. OT3s, OT4s, OT6s, orgies, open relationships, sedoretus, whatever strikes your fancy, as long as it involves three or more entities.

Participants are able to offer and request fanart, fanfiction, fanvids, podfic, fanmixes, gifsets, or aesthetics/moodboards.

We understand that life gets in the way sometimes. If you realize you will not be able to finish your assignment, please default as soon as possible.

For extensions, 48 hours is the maximum that will be granted. You're free to still finish your assignment if you need more than 48 hours; however, if you ask for a longer extension or you don't post your fanwork by the extension deadline, then the request will be sent out as a pinch hit. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

Please note that if you defaulted two years in a row, defaulted after the default deadline and didn't write a treat afterwards, didn't submit your work by the due date without any warning, submitted an unfinished work, or deleted your already-completed assignment, you're banned from participating in this year's Holly Poly.

Oh, yeah, the twist in the accidental marriage thing with the poly would be very interesting.

Plus, not only would we have the contrast between Mara/Lucanis and Stella/Illario! We could compare Lucanis/Stella and Illario/Mara too!

Imagine Lucanis being too tongue-tied to talk to Mara and almost literally running away whenever he starts to Feel Things For Her. And then imagine Illario just looking at Mara and saying "soooo, wanna fuck?"

Kpop Demon Hunters Sedoretu AU + Jinu lives AU

(A Sedoretu is a four person romantic relationship typically with two men and two women. Everyone in this setting has a moiety, essentially a second gender, which is either Morning or Evening. No one is allowed to date someone from the same moiety.)

Now you could just go with the one above but the thought behind this was Polytrix + Rujinu so we would have to go something like this.

And that is a fucking scandal in the Sedoretu world. Jinu only having one Partner, Mira dating two women instead of a man and a woman. Rumi and Zoey dating someone of the same moiety.

Yeah, we talking instant collapse of the Huntr/X brand. Cancelled by everyone, the Honmoon is GONE.

But the main theme of the movie was them hiding their true identity behind a perfect mask. So this fits that perfectly.

I think I'm gonna go insane cause my brain cooked up a kabru/marcille/falin/laios post-canon sedoretu arrangement and I have no one to talk about it with nor the art skills to draw my vision NOR even the articulation skills to write a much needed propaganda post, with images (maybe a handy power point)

also there's like. one (1) kabru/falin art in the entirety of the internet, but I really want to explore their dynamics, I think Falin and her leftover feathers from her dragon time could help him process his monster trauma

anyway this is just me being my extremly niche self. but throwing it out there in case it runs across someone with the same hat or smth

I've been reading a bunch of Ursula Le Guin recently and I was having a lot of fun with all the stories set on Planet O. The people there are split into two moieties and they have these complicated poly-marriages called sedoretus. Two women and two men come together - always one from each moiety- and everyone is married to and has sex with the two people not from their own moiety.

This of course leads to ridiculous drama like "I love you but we need to find two other people to be together." or "I love you and the guy you want to bring into our marriage but the girl he wants to bring is a bitch and I don't want to marry her." or "Everything fine honey? You're not having enough sex with your wife and it's unbalancing our sedoretu." On top of that same-moiety sex and relationships are culturally completely off limits.

It makes you want to scream at the characters to screw the stupid moiety and polygamy rules and just be together with whoever they want. And then you go like: "Oh I guess this isn't any more stupid than what we have on Earth." Forced monogamy and heterosexuality are just as ridiculous and gender essentialism is just as arbitrary.

Sedoretu understanders, how much of a problem would it be if in one of the four marriages one or both partners weren't willing to be sexually involved with one another? Would it be a cultural taboo/shameful/etc, or just sort of considered inconvenient and unfortunate for those two people, like a real world dead bedroom? I'm not necessarily asking in the context of the Hainish cycle but in the context of how this tends to be depicted in fanwork, question aimed at people who may read it often, or more often than me at any rate.

i am accidentally pre canon sedoretu-ing monty mother clementine and magpie but like mountain ways type queer sedoretu bc it's monty and mother as the evening and clementine as the morning woman and magpie disguising herself as the morning man for the marriage and just kind of keeping her status as the morning man of their marraige under wraps generally

but. we have the morning marraige being clemmie and mother, and robert and annie are children of the morning, which feels... okay, so it's unbalanced. but they know it's unbalanced. and knowing it's unbalanced doesn't mean that's fixed, but they can't. there's no easy way to get children of the evening for them. that doesn't mean Robert and Annie aren't monty's just as much as they're mother's.

the evening marriage would be monty/magpie and we know how i feel about that so I'm all for that.

and then the day marriage would be monty and clemmie which would be cute and i do lowkey see how that would work out nicely, especially pre canon

the only one i'm not sure of is the night marriage. on the one hand i could see it. on the other i don't think either of them would be attracted to each other and a sedoretu is about balance, i think that's complicated and something they just don't talk about, like the stuff with the kids

but they're a full sedoretu, if a bit unconventional and unbalanced, before the fire. magpie stops visiting after the fire; tru says that it's better, safer, to play the broken sedoretu where there is no Morning moiety in the picture. it pushes her over the line. book 2 is Evening marriage stolen kisses in bathrooms into monty tearfully crying in mother's arms about the discovery that their sedoretu is truly broken for real.

I think they can heal, post-canon, but it's going to take a long time to balance things out. but there's evening kids now too, and that's a start.

Okay! So! Just to review the mechanics of a sedoretu marriage, let's look at this chart:

This means there's 4 characters minimum involved, 2 women and 2 men, one of each of the two moieties (evening and morning). All different-moietie partners are supposed to have sex with each other while it is taboo for same-moietie partners. This gives us within the four two expected homosexual partnerships, two expected heterosexual partnerships, and two forbidden heterosexual partnerships.

The first question this brings up, of course, is how to sort characters by moietie. I could just arbitrarily assign characters within the same clan to either morning or evening. But it's easiest and more interesting to consider each Clan as a different moietie. If the Clans are bound by this marriage custom this would entrench alliance relationships and really give more of an impetus for Clans to protect each other.

I elected to merge them into LionClan (ThunderClan and WindClan) and TigerClan (RiverClan and ShadowClan). Thus a sedoretu within LionClan requires one ThunderClan tom, one ThunderClan molly, one WindClan tom, and one WindClan molly. And likewise for a TigerClan sedoretu.

Within LionClan and TigerClan I want to keep their respective camps/territories as relatively independent, still, even if they manage a joint foreign policy. So, instead of one leader for each of the two Clans, they are lead by two leaders, one from each moietie, which I call consuls. Consuls each have authority over their camp and territory and alternate every half a year who has authority over joint Clan matters, with their co-consul having veto power.

You may notice, this is very much based on the system the Roman Republic! I've also toyed with the idea of adding a sort of senate-like institution to this worldbuilding, giving the Clan at large the power of electing a council of advisors for their consul who would have the duty of electing a new consul from amongst themselves after their nine lives are up. This is still kinda half-baked though.

Finally, since these marriages would happen across Clans, I have also been wondering about the living situation. I'm leaning towards movements between camps being regulated, not totally free. Thus, a warrior is allowed to visit their spouses in another camp for a limited period of time, say for half a moon or for a quarter moon each moon. Within that period, their own consul has the right to recall them to camp, and they take their orders from them still, not the consul of the camp they are residing in.
