So I follow N. D. Stevenson (comics writer and animator, most famous for Nimona and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) and his husband Lee Ostertag (also a comics writer and animator) on Instagram. When I started following them, they were both publicly presenting as women, and then a few years ago N. D. came out as transmasc nonbinary, and then earlier this year Lee also came out as transmasc. Anyway this is all setup to say that Lee had the chance to make the funniest post of all time and he took it:

My hopes for the Clacton by-election in order of importance:

Farage loses - obviously

Count Binface gets enough votes to be refunded the money he had to pay to stand in the election

Count Binface gets more votes than Farage

Farage gets fewer votes than the guy I've never heard of from the "Rejoin EU" party. I don't necessarily want this guy to win, but it would send a strong message to the former UKIP types if Rejoin UK gets more votes than Farage

At least one of three Monster Raving Loony party candidates gets more votes than Farage (I'd love it if all three of them did, but it's a split vote, so that would be tough to achieve)

The guy from the Everyone is God party gets some lessons on how to write concisely and redoes their website so that it's got 50% less waffle so that someone else trying to figure out what their policies actually are has to wade through less nonsense

The Clacton by-election just got even funnier

34 candidates are standing in this unnecessary waste of tax payer's money election. 34! That's a new record for UK elections.

Our hero Count Binface takes on the dastardly Farage on 13th Aug 2026, but he faces competition from 32 other people vying to become MP for Clacton.

Among these candidates are 3 Monster Raving Loonies™ as well as people from across the country and even the wider world?! There's even someone whose listed address is Australia; truly a global important election.

Doing a quick tally, there's only 6 local people standing (maybe 8 if you're willing to allow people just slightly outside the council area). The rest are scattered across the UK, from Glasgow to Dorset, yet none of the other major political parties (Labour, Tories, Lib Dems, Greens) are fielding a candidate.

They know this is a sham election called by Farage to avoid an investigation into his undeclared finances. Although it's highly like he gets reelected, Count Binface stands a good chance of taking all the left leaning and protest votes, and would give him his best ever finish in a UK election. Even the current PM and LotO have thrown their support for Count Binface.

Do the right thing Clacton. Make your vote COUNT

Ah yes Supreme Overlord of the Recyclons, the only one to save us from the evil Nigel Farage. He's 5,900 years old and i love an older man, he could use his superior technology to take over the earth but that's too much effort so he's doing it the old fashioned way.

I honestly truly love this guy, anything that humiliates Nigel Fascist is a win for me and most likely for Clacton.

Anyway shoutout to John Williams, amazing composer and probably the one who made the other 50% of "holy shit amazing" soundtracks (Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Superman, and incidentally the original Harry Potter theme and score) who famously worked closely with the first openly transgender woman to be nominated for an Academy Award, Angela Morley. He respected her, and so far as I can see, has never made transphobic remarks.
