When autistics say that autism isn’t a disability, that their brain is simply wired differently, and that it allows them to see things in ways alltistics (non-autistics) can’t they’re not being (entirely) metaphorical.
Autistics literally see things differently from how allstistics do.
This is probably best exemplified with the following diagram:
What did you see first? The big letters or the little ones?
Alltistics usually see the big letters first, while autistics tend to notice the little letters.
Sometimes you have to look at life in black and white. To see the parts that are full of color.
