okay jumblr it’s weird halacha opinion time: sefira music edition
In an attempt to not go insane i found a random sefira friendly playlist on spotify and have now stumbled into a meaningless but perhaps fun to consider question.
the music issue during sefirat haomer is ostensibly that INSTRUMENTAL music is a no go while a capella is totally fine. My assumption (which obviously i am open to disagreement on, and would actually be interested to hear any dissenting views!!) is that synthesised music counts as instrumental even if a given sample wasn’t recorded from a traditional instrument and is 100% digitally generated
THAT SAID: what do we reckon about vocal synth? I’m counting both vocaloids and digital pitch correction here as two seperate instances but still related
Some of these songs are very chassidishe so i have to imagine that pitch correction isn’t *technically* an issue but these same songs sound more like synth than actual synth songs with the sheer level of pitch correction (and let’s be real, a good producer can make it very subtle so idk wtf they have going on)
The vocaloid question is probably more up in the air but i also have no idea if there exists any vocaloid a capella so it could be entirely theoretical (not that judaism is averse to this kind of questioning on entirely theoretical scenarios)
Anyway this seemed like an interesting discussion waiting to happen so I’m curious to see what other people think lol

Curso de Sabedoria da Kabbalah
Transforme sua vida! Inscreva-se agora! 👉 https://kabbalah.academy/pt/course-2024

Image description: 7 screenshots of the omer counter, showing a colour cover, a black and white cover, a multi-month spread, an explanation of how to count with a list of pieces of the ritual, the omer bracha with 7 different names of Gd, a week spread with journaling prompts and diagrams, and a week's worth of dailies.
And some peeks at the colouring companion:
