"The mountains were covered in thick, white sheets of snow. As the snowflakes continued to fall to the ground, the white snowy ground glistened from the morning sunlight. It was as if the ground was covered in tiny, shining diamonds the color of pearls.
She continued to lie in bed on her side, staring out the window of the cabin. Her eyes traveled around the once green landscape, taking in the snow and sunlight over and over. It was as if she was trying to memorize the view before her. Before the winter passed and the flowers bloomed once again.
Suddenly, she heard a sharp inhale coming from her right. She turned her head and stared at the figure next to her. She stared at their closed eyes, messy bed hair, and slightly parted lips. She smiled as she saw how peaceful they looked in their sleep, like there wasn't a thing wrong in the world. She wished their life could stay like that forever: Calm, peaceful, relaxed, free from pain.
She stared at them with a smile before slowly bring her hand up to their face. She swept their hair out of their face and touched their cheek. She giggled when they scrunched their nose in reply. She felt so relaxed as she lied next to them. As if their peacefulness had slowly transferred to her as well.
With a yawn, she slowly sat up in the bed. She stared at their peaceful, sleeping face for a moment before gently shaking their shoulder. As their eyelids fluttered open, she looked down at them with a peaceful smile and soft eyes. She slowly whispered the very words she always dreaded hearing or saying in the mornings.
"Come on. It's time to get up."
They smiled back at her, which almost surprised her. Although it shouldn't have. They had always been a morning person. She was the one who had always come alive in the night, as she was only ever productive or energetic in the late hours. She watched as they rose, staring at their beautiful frame as they sat up in the bed. She laughed.
"What is it?", they asked with a smile, staring at her as they stretched and came to life.
"Well, it's just that...you always wake up with so much energy, and it takes me so long just to get out of bed!"
They laughed in response, shaking their head.
"Yeah, yeah...I don't mind. It's gives me an excuse to lay in bed with you for longer."
She laughed and threw a pillow at their torso.
They winced and grabbed their stomach, feigning pain with a smile.
"Ouch! That really hurt, honey!"
She laughs and shakes her head.
"Shut up! I can tell you were faking it!"
"Of course I was faking it! Your throws are pathetic!", they said with a laugh!
She just smiled and turned away, enjoying their banter and laughter.
"Should we get ready for the day? I feel like that's the responsible thing to do! And you're always the responsible one. So I think I should try to be more responsible, too!"
She stared at them with a smile before slowly pulling back the cover and sitting on the edge of the bed. She stared at the snow and mountains through the window as she sat on the edge.
"You should just be whatever you wanna be...Although, I suppose in this case, you're right. We should get ready for the day. Even without any plans, I still don't like lying in bed all day.", they said as they looked at her with a smile.
"I do! I love lying in bed all day. It's the best!"
She felt a pillow softly hit her back. She quickly turned her head as she realized that they had thrown a pillow at her. She stared at the cheeky smile on their face, like they didn't care that they had been caught.
"You shouldn't do that, y'know! You should live a little more."
She opened her mouth to made a snide remark in reply. She closed her mouth when she realized they were right.
"Maybe...maybe so...let's go downstairs already! I'm hungry!"
They laughed and shook their head.
"Really? Already?", they asked as they slowly got out of bed and made their way towards the closet.
"Yeah! I just don't wanna spend all day in bed today. I wanna try to have fun."
They looked at her and smiled gently.
"Don't worry...I'll make sure we both have good days today."
They continued smiling at her before turning away and heading into the closet to change for the day. She looked at the ground and smiled. She loved how they always took charge and tried their best to make her feel good. She finally stepped onto the carpet below. She put on her slippers as she thought of what to wear that day. She looked around the room, between the brown shelves and cabinets. That's when she noticed one of their sweaters hanging on a coatrack near the bedroom door.
It was a lovely knit sweater with a cute pattern and long sleeves. She walked towards the coatrack and touched the sweater, feeling it's soft and warm material against her fingertips. She quickly took the sweater off of the rack and held it in both of her hands. She held it against her chest and felt its warmth before holding it to her nose. She smelled their favorite fragrance, the one they always wore. The one that smelled heavenly on them.
She smiled as she breathed in their scent. She had made one decision so far that day. She decided to wear their sweater."
