Sound Four - Anne Truitt
While making this series, Truitt described waking one morning with the impression that her sense of shape, structure, and proportion had departed her. “What is left is ‘sound,’ some kind of energy without name,” she wrote. “It occurred to me that the ‘name’ of the things I am making out of the beautiful delicate strong paper is SOUND.”
Language is Magic
My tale In the Dark, A Blaise Zabini/ Gellert Grindelwald Dark wizard fic, tells you how I, Gellert Grindelwald, managed to visit Hogwarts from time to time.
While visiting my darling Blaise Zabini and the ever reliably grouchy potions Master. What a refreshingly honest chap, I got to say.
But the point I am making is this. I have overheard during my visits how some people held it against Granger her "know it all attitude."
The thing is, in this specific case, she may have a point. A precision with your spell cannot be underappreciated.
A spell is guided by your intention, but also by the specific method you choose to implement it.
A spell is not in itself conscious. It would do what you tell it to do, and would not think for you.
Suppose you confuse your terms while casting a levitating charm. Suppose you end up levitating half disembodied. How would you even go about fixing it?
As you never know what could happen, always be precise. Especially in your definitions. Of what you want to accomplish. Of who you are and in which way you seek to transform yourself.
Never forget that the earliest languages were viewed as magical. As you are precise in expressing what you need, so you must be precise in casting the spell. In the Dark, A Blaise Zabini/ Gellert Grindelwald Dark wizard fic https://archiveofourown.org/works/22824907
