Hello! I’d like to know how people that are neurodivergent experience romantic relationships! It’s a bad stereotype that we’re bad at relationships, but I’d like to look and see what truly happens. It can’t all be bad right? Feel free to share if you’re comfortable :-)
I’m posting a lot tonight hahaha! Like I mentioned before, I was recently diagnosed with autism. So I wanna know what my fellow autistic followers deal with! I know some people with autism LOVE to be touched. Some do not. Some people talk a lot while some are a lot less verbal! So tell me what you’re like! Tell me funny stories you’ve had, tell me silly things you had to learn, tell me your habits, tell me your stims, tell me anything you’d like! I’ll tell you about me.
-I do not like to be touched very much. I don’t let my parents hug me. Not to say I don’t ever CRAVE it, but it’s hard for me to receive hugs and stuff. So I just don’t really show my love through physical affection. (Dating has been pretty difficult because of that hahha)
-I am a picky eater. I hate vegetables. I have too many stories about me gagging and throwing up to try some foods again in adulthood
-I don’t hyperfixate on certain topics as much as some other people might (which is fine), but currently I am very invested in Sanrio items! I bought a HUGE Pompompurin plush for $60, I bought a Hello Kitty stuffed animal along with Keroppi stickers from World Market, I have a Hello Kitty lunchbox, and a Hello Kitty strawberry coin purse. I want to add to my collection!
-I love the color pink. I wang everything in my life to be pink. My hair is pink, my walls are pink, my bedspread is pink, most of my outfits are pink....it fills me with SO MUCH serotonin I can’t stop thinking about it
-I do not have tons of stims. I don’t flap my arms or bounce up and down and stuff. Though, I do tap my fingers and I have a problem with syllables. I like to tap my fingers to beats of 5 and the beat must end on my thumb. Though my psychiatrist said that’s more of an OCD thing. It keeps me up at night honestly. So it doesn’t really make me feel much better, it’s more of a nuisance really.
-I do have a few funny stories where I misunderstand what people are trying to say to me, so if you want to hear about that then just let me know!
I hope this was helpful! Let me know more about you!
I apologize about my inactivity. I’ve had to...work on myself. Work some things out.
I uuuh I have aspergers. That was a recent thing to come to light. I don’t know how to deal with it. It’s a bit of a shock. I guess at the moment it would be really nice to have a friend
But I hope you’re all doing well during quarantine. It’s a tough time right now, but we’ll get through it
Hello! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while!
Thank you for being patient! School has kept me busy. I hope you had a good holiday break!
I have a slight rant that I’d like to talk about....it will be brief, but feel free to scroll
Do you ever get annoyed when people try to use their illnesses for clout....?? Or when people clearly have a made up mental disorder to seem popular??? As if making up a mental disorder makes you special and unique....? I don’t see the appeal or why people do that. Anyways rant over
SPD/Dyspraxia/Autism Question
It’s been a little while! Sorry everyone! But here’s a question for this week!
I get spots over my body that get really sensitive. Like maybe an area on my hand or my leg that get randomly sensitive. I have no control over it. It gets irritated and it feels like a rash, but there’s no rash! No redness, no bumps, nothing. Just a random part on my body that is extra sensitive. It’s very sensitive to touch. It can hurt a lot! If I get one of those spots on my hands, it is very difficult to do any kind of task because I am in pain.
I call these “sensitivity patches”. Just a random patch of skin on my body that is extra sensitive for some reason. I have no control, I just have to wait for it to go away.
Does anyone else experience this?
Even after being diagnosed with SPD for almost 10 years, my parents still say that I’m picky.
Like no. Sometimes I seriously cannot eat a certain food or I will throw up.
SPD/Dyspraxia/Autism Question
(Btw sorry for the inactivity!)
-Do you believe that more research needs to be done on issues like SPD/Dyspraxia/Autism? Or do you think that we already know enough?
