After sentimonsters were introduced, ML basically turned into The Sentimonster Show. Seriously, just about every major plot point after the S2 finale that isn't connected to Chloé circles back to sentimonsters in some way. The fall of the Order? A sentimonster went rogue. Why Émilie is in a coma? She created a sentimonster. Why Marinette loses the Miraculous in S4? Félix hates her for her treatment of sentimonsters. Why Adrien and Marinette can't be together? He can't disobey his father because he's a sentimonster. It goes on, and on, and on.

It shrinks the world considerably and I hate it.

This new "the organ related to the emotion used to create a senti gets damaged" bull is suuuuuch an obvious retcon like I'll never be convinced they planned that from the start... like am I really to believe Adrien "my only wish is to be whatever my parents want me to be" Agreste is the only senti made PURELY out of love and thus Emilie's heart was damaged? Also Kagami's "perfection" never really felt like it was about just her looks but sure sure that's why Tomoe has no eyes. Sure Tommy.

(Same anon as previous just something i wanted to add lol) Like, Adrien's whole THING is that his parents (or Gabriel at least, since the show wants REALLY hard to sell us that Emilie was this pure selfless angel) is that they WANT him to be perfect, and Marinette seems to love his beauty above everything else (sure sure "he's nice and kind" but let's be real she's mostly in it for his looks). Since DAY ONE Adrien's whole character has revolved around how everyone wants him to be perfect! Then shouldn't Emilie have been the one to lose her sight then? Am I supposed to believe that Adrien's whole existence and upbringing revolved only around love but somehow when Emilie died his father took over and became abusive and controlling from one day to the next? Is that why he's already an established and famous model, has his whole schedule controlled, and has never gone to school or met anyone his age other than Chloe by the time we get to Origins? Sounds reasonable to me! /s

Yeah, like what sad attempt at plagiarizing Fullmetal Alchemist is this bullcrap? Also, like, the lost organs in Fullmetal Alchemist were a combination of payment and punishment. Punishment for trying to use alchemy to bypass the natural order and payment for the Gate's knowledge of deeper Alchemy.

What godlike being in the Miraculous universe is decreeing how complex a Sentimonster has to be before you need to pay for creating one? Because, like, Nathalie was dying from making the same level Sentimonsters both Félix and Gabriel could make no issue once it was fixed. Or is the payment only necessary when it's broken? Then why does the fact it's broken follow any kind of logic?

Or are we supposed to think these things are in any shape or form equal?

Sentipeople honestly make no sense. If someone is a singular emotion given life, they can't exactly have the full range of emotions a human being would need to have.

Is it weird that back when almost everyone disliked Kagami in seasons 2-4 I actually liked her but now that she seems to be so much more beloved in the fandom I've actually began to low-key dislike her?

I don't think it's weird; I feel the same way. S2-4 Kagami had a lot going for her, but now her character pretty much revolves around Feligami and being a sentimonster, neither of which are particularly interesting.

I think the biggest argument for the senti-stuff wasn’t preplanned is actually Yaksi Gozen. Adrien is able to command Felix to chill just by holding the ring, not needing to know Felix is a senti and not needing it to be intended to control his behavior. Which indicates that commanding a senti is a passive rather than active thing.

The fact that Adrien can disobey Gabriel at all in seasons 1-3 indicates that this wasnt a thing in those seasons. And we know the rings still work while Gabriel is Hawkmoth thanks to Ephemeral so any time Hawkmoth issues a command and Adrien/CN don’t follow it (chat blanc, any time he says in person “give me your miraculous”) is evidence against commands being a thing.

The only excuse left is CN can’t be controlled by the rings since he isn’t technically Adrien, but Yaksi Gozen seems to imply that the senti-kids can be controlled while transformed. And that still wouldn’t excuse Adrien being rebellious in s1-3.

Yeah. S1-3 Adrien was always shown to be controlled through garden-variety abuse, not any kind of magic. And honestly that's what the writers should've stuck with; it was both more relatable to the target audience and just way more interesting. Him being a sentimonster adds nothing to his character besides unfortunate implications.

Couldn't Gabriel have ordered Adrien to fall out of love with Marinette via amok rings?

Yes, and I can't come up with any good in-character reason why he didn't. It's not like the man cares about Adrien's agency. This is one of the many reasons I can't take praise for senti Adrien seriously. If it was actually the plan and made sense in any way whatsoever, the series would be very different.

People really trying to defend the whole sentimonster thing that now I saw a post saying sentimonster is allegory/metaphor for trans people. And here I was like "you guys thinking about this way too much" because for whatever metaphor or allegory that people come up with, they always forget about the whole problematic point about sentimonster : their remote control. It's not new, but still surprises me.

People on tumblr love trans headcanons, so I find the practice of trying to connect human Sentimonsters to transness deeply manipulative and even transphobic. Like, how dare anyone say something against a trans headcanon, when the trans headcanon in question is romanticizing dehumanization.
