Ok, ok, ok.
New story time!
The beginning of the sequel to When the Cactus Blooms!
Hopefully posting this will keep me working on it. (I know I have other stories that need to be worked on too, but the block is so hard to fight. Here’s hoping less stress when work gets out for the summer in a couple weeks will help! 🤞)
[I had so much fun writing for Yeehawgust last year that I went back to previous year’s prompt lists to write another Star Trek western. I don’t recall which year’s this was, but I can’t take credit for the chapter/prompts, that’s all @yeehawgust. Thanks!!]
Where the West Begins
Ch. 1 Meowdy!
Life moved at its own pace on the Enterprise Ranch. Though that had been a very quick pace during the previous spring and summer. Leonard McCoy looked out across the north pasture, and let his thoughts drift. Two gangs and a pair of villains taken out. A new addition to their family on the ranch in the form of Jaylah. And best of all, at least to McCoy, love in his life again.
McCoy couldn’t help a smile as he looked over towards where Montgomery Scott was working on the pasture gate.
“Len, look at this.”

30 Day WoL Writing Challenge-Day 24 Recovery

This is a sequel to my story Pillow from the last monthly challenge going further into the back round behind Aina’s claw mark scars from the Voidsent.
*Warning some minor graphic injury and fever descriptions*
"Pray forgive my lateness dear friend," Kan'E stated as she pushed open the door with her hip her arms full of fresh bandages for the Viera's wounds, "Matters at the Lotus Stand took longer than I...."
The Padjal fell silent as she noted that the Veena remained prone. The past few days she had been tending her, Aina normally would be attempting to sit up to greet the White Mage.
Concerned she placed the bandages on the room’s table and stepped up to the side of the Viera's bed. The woman was twitching in her sleep her brow furrowed beads of sweat soaking the pillow beneath her head. Swiftly the Padjal reached out and touched the unconscious woman.”
To her dismay the Viera's skin was hot to the touch. Pulling back the sheet she could see the bandages were dark with blood and there was a sickly sweet scent coming off of the wounds.
The Padjal turned to the Serpentsworn whom had followed her in placing a water basin down stating, "Go to Miounne now! Tell her I need both herbs for fever and poultices to draw out poisons!"
The Elezen sped off spurred by the urgency of the Seedseer's tone. Kan'E then set about removing the soiled bandages. As the wounds were revealed they lurid red in their color and overtly festering Kan'E began swearing softly.
"Couldn't....have....said it....better." the Viera rasped
Kan'E turned to see the woman’s eyes open bright with fever. Convulsions were racking her body and she was having trouble focusing.
"Sorry dear friend," Kan'E murmured, "Pray do not strain yourself," She then began bathing the wounds with the clean water from the basin.
“Nothin...to apologize for,” the Viera responded breathily, “An...don’t worry....never ‘eard a word....”
Kan’E gave her a grateful smile very much relieved that the woman could at least make a joke. It meant that she wasn’t as bad off as the White Mage had feared.
The Padjal then pitched her voice out the door calling, "Please, could I have one of the staff ready to bring me a fresh basin when I ask for it."
A lady Hyur poked her head in the door stating, "Aye my lady, I stand ready." She then ducked backed out swallowing back bile as she saw the Viera's wounds.
Panting Aina weakly tugged on Kan'E's wrist to get the Padjal's attention once more. The White Mage looked her in the eyes and the Veena gasped, "Beast....stank of death....sure....claws were," she took several breaths trying to focus on speaking, "Fouled.....along....with the venom....or...side effect."
"Either way I will see to them dear friend, please....rest." Kan'E responded laying a hand over the wounded woman's.
The Viera nodded and seemed to lapse back into unconsciousness as Kan'E began thoroughly bathing the claw marks. Several times she called for the basin to be replaced with fresh water.
About the third call Miounne came in with a box full of herbal remedies. Placing them on the chair near the bandages the Elezen swore softly as she saw the wounds then blushed murmuring, "Sorry Elder Seedseer."
Kan'E gave her a gently smile replying, "It was much my own reaction, fear not Miounne."
The Elezen looked at the prone Viera worry etching her elegant brow as she asked softly, "Is it to far along for Ensuna to work my Lady?"
The White Mage closed her eyes her frustration evident on her face as she replied, "No, but due to the venom that still courses through her veins, I believe, I dare not use healing magics for fear of exaserbating the wounds."
"I see," Miounne stated softly before pulling the jars out of the box and telling the White Mage what each was.
Once Kan'E was satisfied that the wounds were as clean as she could get them she went about packing the wounds with poultices and salves intended to draw out the toxins within the wounds.
Miounne meanwhile left to brew an herbal tea to deal with the Viera's fever. She returned as Kan'E finished wrapping the wounds. She handed the tea to the Padjal and helped her lift up the Viera so they could get her to drink it.
Once they had gotten the injured woman to drink it down Mionne carefully lowered her back to the bed and left her in the Seedseer's care.
Kan'E then turned to what appeared to be a warp in the air near her stating, "Kuplo Kop, please inform my siblings that they are needed in the city."
The moogle appeared before her bowing low stating, "Aye my lady Kupo." he then fluttered to the window as she moved to open it. Peering back before he flew off he asked, "Will she be alright Kupo?"
The Seedseer nodded, "Aye, I will not leave her side until she is well Kuplo Kop you have my word."
Once the Moogle left she closed the window then moved back beside the wounded Viera. The Padjal then once again saw that the woman was awake and she leaned down so she wouldn't have to strain to be heard.
"Thank....you, my lady." the fevered Viera whispered.
Kan'E gave her a gently smile, "Think nothing of it, it is the least I can do for all you've done for the realm."
The Viera just shook her head then lapsed back into unconsciousness. Her whole body quaking with the shivering caused by the fever.
Kan'E gently pulled the sheet over the woman and moved to the door addressing the Serpentsworn, "Please go and inform the Scion's that the Warrior of Light's condition has worsened and I am doing everything within my power to see her through it."
The Elezen woman once again bowed stating, "Aye my Lady," she then left immediately to carry out her orders.
Kan"E meanwhile returned to the Viera's bedside sitting down in a chair not far. She this time silently cursed the ancient mages of Mach and their vile Voidsent that hindered her ability to aid her dear friend in her recovery.
She then sat there in silent vigil over the Warrior whom had done so much for the realm. The Padjal was damned if she wasn't going to save her.

Miitopia: The Sequel!
((Part 1))
Another chapter of I might know my heart, at last! @kotaface, sorry this is taking me so damn long. I think I might be past the block, and the plot will actually take off pretty quickly after this chapter.
Warning: this chapter has some heavy angst in the beginning, and some explicit sex at the end.
Read it here.
But his skin still felt filthy with Salvor’s cruelty, his bones heavy with Fulcrum’s callousness, and even Sward stirred somewhere in the back of his mind, arguing that really, it was for the best that she feel rejected now. She would withdraw from him, and he would be better able to focus on the objective, on finding her father and whatever hellish thing her father was involved in building for the Empire. Sward had been the voice of caution all through Jedha, too, constantly reminding him that it was dangerous to trust her, dangerous to assume that her willingness to sleep curled against him or her apparent pleasure in running her fingers through his hair was anything more than part of her own persona. Her own objectives.
“Cassian,” Jyn said quietly behind him. “Can I touch you?”
