"Mamaaaa...! They're hurting again..!" Demek glanced one last time at the paper she had in her hand before haphazardly tossing it onto her desk and striding across the room. Standing by her bedroom door, her little girl was holding tightly onto her head, mix-matched eyes big and brimming with tears.
Somewhere under the bed of messy black locks and mud-covered hands, the little qunari's horns had begun to grow, and thus inducing some serious head aches and teary eyes. Offering a small, sympathetic smile, the mage walked down the steps, bent down and scooped the little sniveling bundle up. The moment she had her settled, her daughter was burying her face into the crook of her neck in attempt to hide from the pain.
"Where does it hurt, Ori? All over?" When all the little girl could do was nod against her mother's neck, the mage started down the tower for the main hall. With a soft touch, she had her fingers weaving into her daughter's hair, frosty finger tips rubbing around the protruding bumps, humming a soft song as she went along. "Let's find daddy.. I'm sure he can chase away the owies."
She didn't have to travel far, finding the big bearded man working away at one of his new wood carvings in the stables like so often. The moment he saw both girls walking his way, he raised a hand and waved, unable to stop the warm, content smile from slipping on his face.
Settling next to Blackwall, Demek began to speak in a soft voice, keeping it down as to not hurt Oriha's head any more, "The owies are back.. Growing up is tough work. Think you can chase them off with another story, Daddy?"
Peeking out from her shelter, Oriha gave a weak sniffling before stretching her pudgy arms out for her father. When safely exchanged from one parent to the other, Blackwall began his story of Griffons once more. He made sure the little bundle leaning against his chest was focusing on the sound effects and the lights Demek conjured up, and not on the throbbing pain coming from her temples.
