Save Shadowhunters!

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express how much I love this Show. In December of 2018 I was suffering quite badly with depression as well as other things. In March of 2016 my health took a dive off a cliff. I lost my job - a job that I absolutely loved and would use to gain access to a university, then med school and so on. After I lost that job I slipped into what seemed to be an endless episode of depression that lasted from March 2016 to December 2018. It was like a black hole opened up beneath me and swallowed me whole. But then one night, while I was scrolling through Netflix I found Shadowhunters. It certainly looked interesting and the simple fact that it had vampires, werewolves and Seelies (although at the time I thought the Seelies were essentially elves).

I watched the entire first season in two and a half days. I was absolutely hooked! And season one episode twelve was amazing. When Alec was standing there staring and Magnus I actually yelled; “KISS! SMUSH! GO GO GO! MALEEEEEEC!” My mum came running in my room thinking I was in pain or something (I take a lot of pain relief medication anyway so she probably thought I was having another flare). But no. I was just yelling at my ship.

And as I went through season two I realised that this show was the only thing that was keeping me sane. It kept my mind busy and away from dwelling on things I can’t change. My depression started to slip away the more I watched it.

Shadowhunters saved me from myself.

I plan on getting a small Enkeli rune tattooed on my wrist in thanks and in honour of the Shadowhunters cast and crew and Cassandra Clare.
