imo nicole's canon design actually has huge implications for ragbros btw

rambling theories below 👇

so prior to this trailer, nicole was represented using this teapot in this cutscene. and, when you hear her speak in the fontaine archon quest, she is represented by the matching teacup. as many people know, this same teapot is found in dawn winery, and the pattern is also found on diluc's clothing.

seeing as this was the only imagery for nicole that we had, i (and many others) theorized that she may be diluc's mother. with her released design, though, some people may be thinking "did her genes even try at all?" and the answer?

of course not!

ragnvindr genes are strong as hell!!!

as proof, here's some images of all known (biological) ragnvindrs, spanning back 2600+ YEARS !!!!! they all have the same long, luscious red hair, no matter what !!

so, no matter who diluc's mom was, he would've looked like crepus regardless because those ragnvindr genes will ALWAYS be the dominant ones and will ALWAYS be representative of the child's phenotype.

ok. so that's the diluc evidence, but we already knew all that. she's probably his mom. ok. but what about kaeya?

well, the most obvious thing is definitely the eyes. most khaenri'ahns (dainsleif, caribert, direidyth, etc.) all have pretty large pupils. kaeya's have always been different, being much smaller. i've always assumed it was because he was half-khaenri'ahn. but so is caribert, and his are still large. so that ruled that out.

nicole's pupils are smaller, though, like his. if nicole and kaeya were related, then his smaller pupils would make much more sense.

the most glaring difference is the shape. it's not exact. khaenri'ahn pupils have more rounded vertices, as the stars are made up of curved lines. nicole's have angular vertices.

while not exactly the same as khaenri'ahn eyes, they're DEFINITELY similar. because of this difference, i have seen theories about her origin.

multiple people say that she is a seelie / angel, and i agree. nicole has a "halo" on her hat, and it glows whenever her translucent wings appear. in addition, in the nod krai preview, there is a large seelie with colors similar to nicole's, and it is examining the tea set that represents nicole.

in addition to this, i have seen theories that khaenri'ahns are descendants of seelies. i don't know much about seelies as a race, so I'll have to do more research later. from what i understand, seelies were created by the heavenly principles, but were then cursed by them. this could be why khaenri'ah and celestia had such intense beef. that's a different topic, though.

if you find the pupil evidence flimsy, i get it. they're technically different shapes (although arlecchino also has abnormally shaped khaenri'ahn pupils). so here's this instead.

nicole and kaeya wear extremely similar earrings. they're almost exactly the same. even in his sailwind shadow outfit, kaeya wears similar earrings. a blue diamond shaped gem with a gold casing and a sharp point at the bottom.

i always believed that the earring was a gift from his father, much like the eye patch. and yes, he always wore the eye patch, even before his fight with diluc. in chapter 7 of the webtoon, you can see kaeya prior to the fight. he's already wearing the eyepatch (and the earring).

this could also be considered flimsy evidence, since it's just similar shapes again. so it's time for me to become Insane.

i also believe it would make sense for nicole to have a connection to the alberich clan in general. kaeya's father would be that connection. this is where my wonderful etymology obsession comes in ! yay !

the surname alberich is derived from the germanic mythological character alberich, who is a dwarven king. alberich itself means king of elves / fairies. in french, he is named oberon, who is the king of the fairies in a midsummer night's dream (shakespeare).

side note, in nibelungenlied, alberich is assigned with protecting nibelung's treasure. in genshin, nibelung is the king of the seven sovereign dragons. just an interesting fact. back on topic now.

functionally, seelies are like will-o'-the-wisps, which are generally considered to be fairies or spirits. and, in other languages, seelie translates to, you guessed it, fairy spirits. so, seelies are like fairies, and alberich is king of the fairies. in addition, seelies lead you to treasure in game, and, as i mentioned before, alberich was tasked as nibelung's treasurer in myths.

nicole, being one of the only seelies left with any sense of self, could have been drawn to the alberich clan. not in a way that makes her do anything that she doesn't want, more like a crow with a shiny object. she could have been drawn to kaeya's father.

so with all of this, there's a possibility that kaeya is related to nicole as well. kaeya's father is mentioned in the game, but never his mother. and he has to have a mother. so, with all this, i believe that nicole is kaeya's mother, as well.

so. nicole is diluc's mom. nicole is also kaeya's mom. kaeya and diluc are biological brothers. they just don't know it because their mom is too busy doing whatever the heck the hexenzirkel witches get up to.

now we just wait for nod krai !!!

It's been a week since the new version update, but I haven't seen anyone really mention this; Skirk's signature weapon contains lore - or rather dialogue - of Seelies and first Seelie.

This prophecy is an interesting part, because it mentions all 4 major Seelies we know so far and their fatess - First Seelie, Nabu Malikata, Sybilla and Lord of the Night, respectively. Quite neato.

This one is also Phanes or the Heavenly Principles in general, I assume.

Odd Moon-related Connections in Genshin Lore

- Glaze Lillies and Nilotpala Lotuses only bloom at night

- Glaze Lillies may have been the favorite flower of Guizhong, who’s hair was grey/white and who’s outfit had stardust on it (she was the god of dust, so unless she was a god of stardust specifically that’s some odd things about her)

- Nilotpala Lotuses bloomed at the bleeding feet of the Goddess of Flowers after being cast out of Heaven in the wake of the Seelie disaster

- There is at least one account in Sumeru that claims Liloupar came to the people in a moonbeam. Quote: “Our prayers to the Goddess of Flowers have borne fruit. Her envoy came to us in a moonbeam, granting us life-saving medicine and clean water … …She called herself Liloupar, born of the lilies” and later in that same passage, Quote: “At moonrise, she warned us that the water from the canal may carry disease.” So many mentions of the moon in one text about Liloupar and her relation to the Goddess of Flowers.

- Seelies seem to have a moonlit sky with sparse clouds reflected in their bodies, the bright orb in their heads looks like a moon.

- Guizhong’s death produced a cloud of dust that blocks out the sky and creates a darkened area in Liyue.

- Istaroth was said to be responsible for the Sin Shades, who only show up in Evernight in the dark.

- Nahida has some moon connections in her titles, and she has white hair and pale skin, like Paimon, who has a starry pattern on her scarf like Guizhong had on her robes.

- The Goddess of Flowers built a city for her offspring, the Jinn, and she called it Ay-Khanoum, translated to English that’s the City of the Moon Maiden.

- You can link the mythologies of the Goddess of Flowers and King Deshret to King Solomon and Astarte, who was a version of Ishtar, who is the root for the name Istaroth

- The power of the Aranara is the power of dreams, they exist in the dreamscape. And with how much we use a harp to connect with Aranara, it’s just as likely that music is linked to dreams. And Venti, one of Istaroth’s thousand winds, is a bard who knows all songs past and future, and plays a harp.

- The moon sisters were named Aria, Sonnet, and Canon, literally musical terminology.

- There’s probably a connection between the three moon sisters and Teyvat’s concepts of Time, Memory, and Dreams

- One of Venti’s powers is that he can pull up memories from the far flung past

- The quest for Time and Wind has these sun dial looking things that are actually moon dials since the puzzle only activates at night

- Seelies make a jingling tune, Nahida makes a jingling tune, the Goddess of Flowers taught Rukkhadevata the “source song” which birthed the race of Aranara, and the Pari fought the abyss using the Great Songs of the Khavarena, which seem to summon pure elemental energy aligned with Dendro.

- One of the fairytales that was weirdly important to the Abyss Order before we learned that fairy tales could hold the truth about the past if it’s been rewritten/deleted in Irminsul was the Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies. I’ve already noted a few pale characters with crowns or royal status but there was also a character called the Night Mother, who seemed to be the villain of the story. Another odd Night connection.

- Andersdotter wrote The Boar Princess, her signature rose design is on the cover. A rose is also on the cover of The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies, so could she have written that too? As a member of the Hexenzirkel, it’s pretty likely.

- The Seelies were said to be beautiful pale people, and Rukkhadevata is pale with white hair, as is Nahida. Another trait they share are elf ears. Klee is pale with fair hair, and she’s an elf; from what we know of Alice, her mom, she could look much the same. Although he’s old, Pulcinella of the Fatui Harbingers is also an elf with white hair and pale skin, fitting the description. Seelies are fairies, and elves in real world folklore are considered fae, so could the Seelies have given us the elf race in Genshin? Or the Moon Sisters, who presided over the Seelies? Elves seem to be as long lived as gods, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

- I think Aria, Sonnet, and Canon represented Memories, Time, and Dreams, symbolizing the past, present, and future respectively. I don’t know the order of the goddesses in their roles, but I do know they had a fight and two died, leaving only one, and wouldn’t it be something if that surviving moon goddess became Istaroth, the god of Time? Maybe even Irminsul came from the death of the moon goddess of Memory? I don’t know what could’ve happened to the goddess of Dreams, but maybe her death caused the constellations that are canonically made up of the crystalline fruits of Irminsul in the sky box of the Firmament.

Some idle wondering about the shadow world races

would you say that in the shadowworld context, warlocks are the more "fragile" species between the prominent 5? Shadowhunters are stronger, faster and more durable than most. Vampires are also strong and fast and I guess also pretty sturdy. The werewolves are the same. I don't actually know about the seelies in this regard, I just figure that they too have some kind of more physically oriented attributes. But the warlocks, while possessing great magical power, do have a "normal" body (apart from the immortality, I mean). Right?
