“Mike?” His drawl was more pronounced when he shouted. “Another character named Mike?” Elvis paced the living room of his Bel Air mansion.
“Some of these names, I swear…Lonnie. Johnny. Johnny again.”
“I don’t know where they come up with them either, Elvis.” Your eyes followed his pace from the sofa to the piano and back. He was a tiger stalking a cage built with film scripts and contracts.
“Danny. Vince. Pacer. They had character.” He insisted.
“They did.” You walked up to him and put your hands on his shoulders and tried to rub out the tension. “Put the script down” Your voice purred in his ear. He stiffened as he realized the invitation in your voice. The script was suddenly on the floor and his arms were around you.
Hey everyone! I’m finally defeating my inner demons by posting links to my polymike fics here! They’re all part of the same continuity to me, but I think they can be read separately. Enjoy!

I dunno how to properly do read more stuff as I am a newbie, casual blogger so imma just say a lotta stuff to act as a buffer. This has been a lotta stuff, if you are seeing this and don’t wanna see spoilers then GET OUT!!! Shoo, scram, scramble, scrambled eggs, breakfast, break away fast, whatever! Deny the temptation and cease reading!
anyway for those who havent ran I’ll be talking about Motormouth Mike(s). Now Ive seen a lotta folks taking this secret in bad faith. “Toby is spitting in the eyes of his fans.” “Mike was a massive troll all along.” “Tricky Tony strikes again, he is such a massive troll!”
BAAAMP! WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG! ONE THOUSAND YEARS OF FALSEHOOD!
This ain’t a boss made outta malice, it’s just some light hearted fun. A nod to the community and how much we’ve focused on Mike. Each Mike is a reflection of the three most popular Mikes. An object head Mike with only a mouth and a suspiciously familiar suit. IMAGE_FRIEND Mike. Friend Inside Me Mike. Sure it ends with a jab at how we hyper focused on Mike and how most theories ended up swinging Mike way, but it’s also a homage to all of that. A fun boss acknowledging our collective deltarot as a community with a banger theme and a fun gimmick (even if my poor laptop had a microphone which peaked with any noise and lagged out my already outdated system LOL). Furthermore in a chapter defined by being unusual it serves as a brief reprieve into classic shenanigans with the vibes that the first two chapters had before the story started to peel back the facade of each dark world being purely an adventure for the characters to revel in without worry.
Also why yall acting like this disproves Mike being significant? Toby knows his audience, dya really think he’d call attention to the character so much in the first place for nothing? Sure, name choice is a big shot soda reference but that doesn’t change the fact that attention was drawn to it followed by a direct connection to the next main boss. Added to being brought up in the sweepstakes, in my mind I can’t see Mike just being a throwaway character… it’s just not a character we should have focused on even half as much as we did though.
It’s as the trio of Mikelings said, the idea of Mike had to come from somewhere and sometimes when things are asked of Mike it just sorta happens. If Mike was truly unimportant, Toby woulda probably just added a boss with no greater importance that serving as someone Spamton and Tenna considered a friend but instead he technically just made the character MORE mysterious
Maybe Im just coping but I bet ya this ain’t the last we hear of Mike. I just don’t think it is currently worth theorizing over because that’ll get folks back into the cycle or relating everything to Mike instead of letting theories flourish outside of this mysterious figure. I mean seriously anytime something showed up it just became Mike including Toby Fox making a cursed Toy Story Remix
Until a time in which we either get more Mike hints or Mike is fully reconfirmed, why not enjoy the playful jab playing homage to our insanity. I mean, Mike or not we got three whole character designs outta this with their own dynamics and everything! I expect fake Mike(s) fan content to consume now! Im talking shitposts, fan art, the inevitable MIKE THROUPLE FANS! Even if you believe Tricky Tony is just purely messing with us with the idea of Mike, doesn’t that give ya the motivation to take the insult and EMBRACE IT? YOU GONNA LET EM WIN NOW?!?!? IF SO YOU NEVER DESERVED MIKE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!
in all seriousness now that there are three (3) michael aftons in the movieverse (one literal, two spiritual), i wonder how they're going to divvy up game!michael's narrative roles going forward. especially also considering we don't entirely know what they're going to get to at all, as there will definitely be a third movie, primarily inspired by fnaf 3, but any movies after that are still just a possibility. further thoughts under the cut.
so we know for sure that the third movie is going to happen and that it's going to be primarily fnaf 3 inspired. and i feel incredibly confident that it's going to be mike schmidt that fills mike afton's narrative role as the fnaf 3 guard. maybe he won't literally be a nighttime security guard at fazbear frights, but he'll fulfill the "protagonist who does fnaf gameplay" role in the same way he basically played fnaf 2 in the second movie while not literally being a nightguard there. not only has he filled that role in movies 1 and 2, but he also just makes the most sense. vanessa is currently possessed and it doesn't make sense for michael to be hiding from springtrap at this time. mike is currently free and has motivation to hunt down springtrap following the golden freddy spirit's words about no longer being able to keep him locked away.
now to things we don't know will ever happen in the movies at all:
if anyone gets scooped, it almost has to be michael. firstly, though seeing as elizabeth doesn't exist in the movieverse the reasoning would be different, it's william that sends mike afton down into the sister location bunker, and if that stays the same michael is the only one that would make sense. william would not be sending mike schmidt instructions and vanessa might recieve them but probably would not follow them. meanwhile michael would be eager to follow instructions from his father. and seeing as sister location is mike afton's definitive turning point against his father, michael is the only character for whom the scooping would have the same narrative significance. additionally, i feel that since movie michael afton is really only michael afton in name and appearance only, with most of mike afton's actual narrative being split between the other two, they need to give him the most mike afton shit possible to justify this character being called "michael afton" in the first place. and i can think of nothing more mike afton than having all of your internal organs violently ripped out to be turned into a skinsuit for animatronics.
it's if the movies do a version of the fnaf 6 fire that i get less confident because what character would make sense for that role depends entirely on where the hypothetical movies between now and then take these characters.
if michael has some kind of redemption arc between now and then, he's a strong contender for the fnaf 6 fire accomplice. especially if he's been scooped it makes sense why he would be willing to stay behind in the fire. i think particularly about vanessa's plea to him that they could have a normal life, which he quite strongly rejects; this hypothetical ending for his character would be a flip on that so now it's a bittersweet resignation ships in the night kind of thing. like if he'd taken vanessa's offer then he could have lived a normal life but now because he rejected that and continued to follow william it's too late he truly cannot live a normal life because he's a literal rotting corpse. and as he's not a main character he could have this firey sacrifice at the end while all of our protagonists remain alive, leaving the ending not too tragic for general audiences. additionally, see again giving him the most mike afton narrative roles to justify calling this character "michael afton".
it could also be vanessa but i feel less strongly about that. i think i would be disappointed if her arc about fearing she can never escape her father and can never live a normal life because of him ends with her dying to take him out, almost proving that fear right, but she's also someone i could see taking that course of action. she is someone i can see taking drastic action to definitively rid the world of her father. currently she's in a place where she has no one and i can see her sole motivation in life being killing william for good, but she and mike are most likely going to reconcile next movie so she wouldn't be in that place by the time a hypothetical fnaf 6 fire came around. again, it depends where they take her character between then and now.
now, they could do a combined vanessa and michael fnaf 6 fire, where they set it together as this moment of sibling reconciliation and vanessa leaves and lives while michael stays behind and dies (potentially a second time). or they could combine elements of the fnaf 3 and fnaf 6 fires into one and it happens next movie, and any movies after that are security breach/mimic era inspired instead.
i'm pretty certain it couldn't be mike. yes, he has previously fulfilled the "gameplay protagonist" role and likely will do so again in movie 3, so him being in the fnaf 6 fire would fit that trend. and yes, he has an established contact with henry. but i don't think it makes a lot of narrative sense. thus far his arc in both movies has been about being there for abby and building a normal life not just for but with abby. so him sacrificing himself wouldn't make sense unless abby dies between then and now; he wouldn't leave her willingly. i also feel like the fnaf 6 fire accomplice has to be someone with a far more personal connection to william, and that just isn't mike schmidt. it has to be one of the afton kids, in my opinion.
(i didn't bother to include fnaf 4 because, while mike afton is (almost certainly) the protagonist of that game, i can't imagine them making an entire movie surrounding fnaf 4 in the way they made / are making movies surrounding fnafs 1, 2, and 3. i can see fnaf 4 elements such as the nightmare animatronics, nightmare gas / experiments, the afton household, et cetera making their way into one or more movies, like how elements from multiple games already made their way into the first two, but as of right now i can't see a fnaf 4 movie)
With the Carrie series directed by Mike Flanagan coming up, I want to take a rare character analysis on the antagonist of the book: Chris Hargensen.
For me, I used to initially hate Chris Hargensen as a kid because she was a bully and it just hit too close to home because it reminded me of how my classmates would treat me because I was different (even in elementary, I'd often find myself reading in the library during recess while others played outside).
But over the past few months, re-reading it with a clearer perspective on psychology, I see Chris Hargensen as a product of her environment she was raised in. Especially considering her father, whom I consider a foil to Margaret White.
In case those have forgotten, Irma Swope is a brief minor though mentioned character in the Carrie novel as Principal Henry Grayle goes over Chris Hargensen's history when putting her father in his place: according to Principal Grayle, in Junior High, Chris placed a firecracker in Irma's shoe and almost cost her two toes because she had a cleft lip. This demonstrates her father's lack of parenting because had the incident described below taken place today, Chris Hargensen would've been taken to a psychiatric hospital---at the very least---regardless of her father's money and influence as a lawyer. There was clearly psychological problems with her even before Ewen High that her father or the school didn't acknowledge. Here's the exact wording from the novel itself.
***
"Chamberlain Junior High, one suspension for putting a firecracker in a girl's shoe ... the note on the card says that little prank almost cost a little girl named Irma Swope two toes. The Swope girl has a harelip, I understand. I'm talking about your daughter, Mr Hargensen. Does that tell you anything?'
***
I mean, Chris Hargensen was already out of control due to her father's lack of parenting but being given a suspension---rather than being placed in psychiatric care---and her father's lack of response to how seriously out of control his daughter was getting speaks volumes. For those curious, this is her father's response to being called out.
***
'Yes,' Hargensen said, rising. A thin flush had suffused his features, 'It tells me I'll see you in court. And when I'm done with you, you'll be lucky to get a job selling encyclopedias door to door.'
****
I mean, if this is how he speaks towards being called out about the truth of his daughter's behavior and about the incident years after said incident occured, whose to say how he reacted when the firecracker incident initially happened? How he reacted when the Swope parents came after him?
Needless to say, I'm surprised that the Bar Association wasn't alerted earlier due to his behavior---because today, not even his influence would've gotten Chris Hargensen out from serious repercussions regarding the firecracker incident. At the very most, she would've been taken away to get serious psychological care and counseling and CPS would've been called in for John Hargensen's attitude towards the incident (how he reacts to his daughter's transgressions speaks volumes to how he probably reacted to a firecracker almost blowing off the two toes of a girl).
While it's never elaborated on, the parenting Chris faced at the hands of her father did affect her but in a different way to Carrie's parenting: His daughter's caught at a drug bust? She's putting his reputation at risk. It's even said by the Principal that John Hargensen pulled some pretty long strings to get her into Oberlin with no consideration over what she actually wanted (and not letting her do it on talent and hard work) and there's no implication he held her accountable for missing on the fifty detentions---out of seventy-three---for bullying students. He LET her escalate more and more.
It speaks more VOLUMES to John Hargensen as a parent and even though he only appears in one scene, I consider him even worse than Margaret White: Margaret was genuinely mentally ill from a mixture of what Ralph White did, implied genetic predispositions, a miscarriage of Carrie's older sibling in April 1962 mentioned early in the Shadow Exploded documentary, and finally what her grandmother Sadie Cochran did with her own telekinetic abilities to scare Margaret as a kid.
Now, I'm not trying to justify what Chris did in any way. She's still a horrific bully who needed to be held accountable and Rita Desjardin was the only adult in her life who did so (I also noted the symbolism of the lack of mention of Chris' mother---meaning she's either dead or given John Hargensen’s entitlement and behavior, divorced and wasn't able to gain custody of Chris---and Chris lashing out at Ms. Desjardin when she lectures the girls). But still, a normal elementary school kid doesn't go from being a normal kid to what she did to Irma Swope and the fateful pigs blood prank.
That's my character analysis on Chris Hargensen and I kind of want to know your own thoughts on it.
I watched the first four episodes of Stranger Things last night, and I am disappointed with Jane’s hair. It’s been roughly a year since it was shaved and I was really hoping she’d had the short curls back this season. Or at the very least it should at least be season three hair, but long enough to tie in a little bun at the back of her head.
But otherwise, and hear are the actual spoilers: AAAHAAAAAHHHHHHHH I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! GO WONDER TWINS!!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE WILL HAS POWERS!!!! HOLY SHIT. Also, Will and Robin having a queer solidarity heart to heart is so fucking cute. I loved that. I love them. I hope Will actually gets to be happy holy shit. And not me watching the attack at the Wheeler house thinking ‘if anybody dies let it be Ted, of Karen has to go to than she has to go, but don’t fucking touch holy.’ Also her crying in her bed while her parents fight about her is so freaking relatable, been there kid, been there.
Also Max looks fucking fantastic this season, I LOVE her hair and despite what Holy says that outfit fucking ROCKS. Also I am biased and Sadie Sink just happens to be my celebrity crush. Whatever. Seriously though, she looks so cool.
Still on the fashion note, I really hope Jane gets to wear something she actually likes by the end of the season. I know her current outfit is for practicality not fashion, and last seasons outfits where back to hand me downs like seasons one and two because Joyce is a single mom with three kids, and I get that for the sake of the story, but I just want her to be able to have fun and dress with confidence again, she deserves better.
Also I call her Jane, and not Eleven/El, because I think her name should not be a constant reminder of her trauma, and I wish the characters in the show would take that into consideration. Although, having her come up with a name herself was also a very valid option, because even ‘Jane’ can be a reminder of her comatose mother and the life she didn’t get to have.
Also, I knew it was a lost cause and false hope, but when Holy actually started taking to and about Mr. Whatzit I wished he was Eddie. Like, when I saw the guy in the window I was like “fuck, Holly’s seeing Vecna” but when she actually spoke to him at school and then talked about him to Mike I thought for a moment it could be Eddie, I mean he would be a fantasy book character, right? That’s so him. I didn’t know why he would be only able to be seen and heard by Holly Wheeler of all people, but I had hope. And then it’s just Vecna playing the nice game for some reason. I mean, I knew it was coming, because it was what made more narrative sense and the direction all the foreshadowing was pointing to but I just wanted to dream for a moment. Can someone write a fic where Eddie is Mr. Whatzit and is actually trying to save kids from Vecna? Thanks.
Mike, a screenwriter in his forties or fifties, discovered a photo of his childhood friend Will with his boyfriend on Facebook. This stirred up childhood memories, and he realized he had once harbored special feelings for Will. He couldn't help but wonder if Will had felt the same way.
He began writing the story of Stranger Things: an adventure story centered around Will.
He took the "ll" from Will's name and named the character "Eleven." (I must emphasize this point: the original Eleven and Will are of the same origin; Eleven is a manifestation of Mike's idealized version of Will.)
Eleven (who is essentially Will) is described as a tormented, blank-slate girl in need of salvation, even though she initially appears boyish.
After Eleven dresses as a girl, Mike boldly kisses her, even though Will is still missing (OMG, Mike wanted to kiss him so badly!).
As you can see, Mike separated his complex feelings using two characters with the same origin. Although his actions towards Will were extremely gentle and attentive, his emotions were projected onto Eleven (given how terribly he treated Eleven, like a boyfriend who says he loves you but can't be bothered to even look at you).
At the end of the story(of S1), Will returns, and Eleven (Will's agent) naturally disappears (in a sacrificial manner).
After the episode aired, Eleven became very popular with viewers, so Mike brought her back to life and gave her an independent personality and backstory.
He still maintains a highly platonic friendship with Will. The story expands from focusing on Will to depicting the dynamics of the group's relationships. He officially begins a romantic relationship with Eleven, who possesses an independent personality. However, in this relationship, he attempts to "be straight" and accuses Will of "not liking girls." Will completely breaks down in Mike's imagination, and Mike immediately tries to make amends. The appearance of the Mind Flayer interrupts this attempt to repair their friendship.
It's worth noting that Eleven has had an independent personality since the second season. At the end of the second season, Mike begins exploring romantic relationships, and this relationship ends at the beginning of the third season. This means the narrator (Mike) didn't take this relationship seriously, but rather lightly portrayed an immature childhood romance, contrasting with the serious way he depicts the significant impact of the damage to his friendship with his best friend (smashing the cabin, and even the Mind Flayer's attacks).
At the end of the third season, Mike clearly realizes that Eleven's kisses can't solve anything, and at the beginning of the fourth season, he indirectly acknowledges his different feelings for Will by subtly describing his jealousy (unable to properly greet his best friend after learning that Will has a crush on a girl). After this, Mike completely portrays himself as a complete jerk, yet Will still admires and supports him, describing him as the bond and core of the team (which we all know isn't true, because the actions of the other team members have nothing to do with him, even though he was very smart in the first three seasons, so were the others, because this is an ensemble drama, and the highlights are concentrated on Eleven, because she's the one with superpowers; if there's a core, it's Will and Eleven).
At the beginning of the fourth season, the writer Mike explicitly states that Will has a crush on a girl, and that girl is Mike. At the end of the fourth season, the writer Mike chooses to keep Mike unaware that Will likes him, because if Mike knew, he would have to consider what he (Mike) would choose to do. In the final episode of the fourth season, Mike had to do something to make his character relevant in the operation to rescue Max, and he once again chose the lazy approach (Mike's character in the action scenes is, to put it mildly, a strategist; in other words, his contribution to the operation is giving speeches). He even plagiarized lines he had written for Will, directly using them in his speech to Eleven. Eleven didn't empathize, once again highlighting the dissatisfaction in Mike and Eleven's relationship.
Even though both Eleven and Mike were unhappy with the relationship, it didn't diminish the audience's love for this heroic couple. Straight people are already accustomed to such mutually unsatisfactory relationships. People often complain but still muddle through, not yearning for true love, but simply wanting someone to cuddle with, even if their spirits can't connect. Why not? Love is a luxury, and what are the chances of two people truly loving and understanding each other?
In the fifth season, Mike finally allows his true male lead, Will, to shine, because he has to end this journey and this relationship. He ultimately killed Eleven (in a way he thought the audience would accept) and sent Will back to his own timeline.
The subtle details he hinted at through Robin's words at the beginning of the fifth season were actually planted in every episode of every season, only discernible to attentive viewers who realize that Mike was the one actively making these hints.
Therefore, Will's actions and words don't come from Will's character, but from the screenwriter Mike. It wasn't the time they spent together that gave Will hope, but rather the screenwriter Mike who wanted Will to have hope (a bit convoluted, haha).
Even Will's coming out wasn't from Will himself, but Mike arbitrarily having Will fall in love and then let go. In the finale, Mike wouldn't bring up his relationship with Will again because he had already finished telling that story, because the person who came out wasn't really Will, but Mike.
After everything was over, Mike still jealously described Will going to a more open place and starting new relationships. This isn't the behavior of a good friend; it's the behavior of a jealous secret admirer.
