Some YJS horror, bc for some reason I always write these characters either with angst or in pain.
Yess an infection AU in 2025 💀💀
I attempted this last year but tried to stay more in theme to the POTC universe and involve curses instead of illness. I decided to actually play around with a virus this time!
CW: Infection AU, creepy imagery and audio, possible body horror
Time to scare the shit out of a fandom of like 5 people again 😀
Don’t worry it’s not totally a spoiler for my fic. Jean has a different nightmare in the fic, but the one in this video was referenced in it in that same chapter. I actually wanna make a comic or animatic of the one straight from the fic but that would take a lot more time and effort 😅
I like how I’m getting better at drawing Jean and my design of the infected is getting more solidified as the au goes on.
Serpent Virus Chapter 17
Jean immediately sat up from his cot as he gasped for air. He awoke from one of the many nightmares he was plagued with since he had been bitten.
They were usually about horrifying and graphic things happening to Jack, like one nightmare where Jack was melting through the deck of the Barnacle as the terrified Fitzwilliam and Arabella were waiting below to catch him as he slowly fell through. Some were freak accidents, like Jack getting hit in the face with a large piece of metal, or getting caught underneath the hull of the Barnacle while careening on shore. One particular nightmare Jean had involved him being chased around New Orleans by an infected Jack and an infected clone of himself.
This nightmare he just woke up from however felt different. It almost felt real.
The full Infection AU Fic is on AO3 if this interests anyone! I’m still working on chapters, I might post another one later today.
It’s been a while since I’ve finished a new chapter for my Infection Fic. RenFaire season has pulled me out of the hyperfixation for a bit 😅 Here’s a drawing of a mutated infected Madame Minuet I did a little recently.
I didn’t want to publish my next chapter until I got these done. These are the stats as of the end of Chapter 3. I’ll eventually make sheets of the stages of the Serpent Virus.
If you haven’t read it yet, the fic is here!
These sheets are a bit spoilery up to Chapt 3 so be aware. Some of the imagery is also a little creepy.
I forgot to color Jack’s bandana but that’s ok bc it helps the eyes pop more. Also forgot to put a caps on Arabella’s name. Whoops!
While I reused drawings of some of the characters from my animatic, I HAD to redraw Jean. He turned out horrible in my video. I also originally drew Constance with no reference so since I’m not good at animals, I just photo bashed her for her’s and Jean’s stat sheets.
Constance turned out so ugly and adorable 💖💖
I did not want to actually draw these two lol. I had to steal them from Internet Archive since the illustrations from the second half of the series did not get digitally remastered. Still took a lot of time cutting them out tho.
The last one is Tim Hawk, who I had to put under the cut for the content. I’ll be placing a large ⚠️G0RE WARNING⚠️ here and continue with caution.
Sorry Tim! I said my next fan art would be a nice drawing of him. I think this is worse…
I FINALLY finished my info cards of my Pirates of the Caribbean Infection Horror AU!
Basically based around the curse Madame Minuet inflicted upon everyone she made her slaves in the young Jack Sparrow books. It’s basically that but make it an infectious virus lol.
Here’s the entire fic that I posted on Ao3 so far! It’s an ongoing fic and I still have more chapters to post.
⚠️CONTENT WARNING before reading the fic and continuing down below! The fic contains graphic descriptions of blood, gore, character death, creepy imagery, and some vomiting. And some of it is also depicted in the info cards below!⚠️
I just published my Infection AU fic on FanFiction! Go check it out!
Fanfic: Serpent Virus, Pirates of the Caribbean: Jack Sparrow | FanFiction
If you are unable to access the website for any reason, I also put the story here below the cut. Enjoy!
—————
CW: This story contains descriptions of blood, gore, and death.
Backstory: Madame Minuet’s scheme to possess and control the masquerade of New Orleans from the bites of her snakes went completely wrong. While she had gotten ahold of them for a while, they took a turn for the worse as they began to deteriorate and she lost control of them. An attempt to control the city with snake venom had turned infectious!
————
The crew of the Barnacle shrank back and stared in horror as the boy who saved them from the possessed-then-turned-diseased partygoers landed on the deck of their boat.
“Don’t worry,” the boy told them. “It’s all over now.”
The Barnacle drifted away from New Orleans. The now City of Bronze glistened in the moonlight as the infected turned on Madame Minuet. Her screams of defeat and terror grew faint the farther they sailed away.
Jumping ahead to later in the night, Fitzwilliam stared at the boy, who they learned was named Timothy Hawk, with a musket shakily aimed right at him.
Tim seemed fine when he saved the crew and hopped on their boat earlier in the night, but throughout the night he began to deteriorate. He was perhaps in an even worse condition than the partygoers in New Orleans.
His face and body were pale and gaunt, and scales grew in patches throughout. His canines and nails fell out in a bloody mess. His eyes were sunken in, the whites of his eyes were bloodshot red, the shape of the pupils now snake-like, and the irises now glowing yellow. His mouth was stretched unnaturally wide as he uncontrollably hissed and drooled black ooze. He was far too gone to have the strength to be aggressive toward anyone aboard the Barnacle. He was so incapacitated, all he could do was lay in a pool of black ooze writhing and screaming in pain.
Arabella held the terrified Tumen in her arms as she tried to choke back tears herself. It was Jean’s turn at the wheel to keep the Barnacle on course, but even he couldn’t help but stand there at the helm and cradle his cat-sister, Constance, close to his chest as he watched the horrific scene before him.
“Please…” Tim weakly begged. “Just shoot.” Through his disfiguring features, tears came down his face.
“Fitz, are ye sure you want to do this?” Arabella nervously asked. To her, it did not seem like a humane way to end the suffering of their new friend.
“Look at him, Arabella,” Fitzwilliam said, without moving or taking his eyes, nor the firearm, off the boy, “There’s no way back for him. He needs to be put out of his misery.” This was really perhaps the most humane thing he could do.
“Please… Just do it now,” Tim croaked. “I’m in so much pain. I can’t go on like this.”
“And it’s for our safety,” Fitzwilliam said. “He could infect any one of us.” Arabella swallowed hard. She almost agreed with both of Fitzwilliam’s points.
“JUST KILL ME!” Tim managed to scream out, spitting the black ooze that was drooling from his mouth. He immediately vomited more black ooze onto the deck.
Fitzwilliam cocked the musket and steadied his aim. “Look away and cover your ears.” he told the rest of the crew.
Arabella turned Tuman around to face her. “Just look at me, alright?” she whispered as she held Tumen’s face.
Jean covered Constance’s face and shut his eyes tightly as he turned away.
Fitzwilliam hesitated, staring at the screaming, writhing boy once more with his finger on the trigger. He aimed for the boy’s head as steady as possible. He had to get it right.
“Thank you for saving us. May God have mercy upon your soul.”
With that, Fitzwilliam pulled the trigger and a flash of sparks and smoke filled his vision as it fired with a loud bang. The world around him and the muffled sobs of his friends immediately went silent as all he could hear was the ringing in his ears. He barely noticed the blood from the boy splattering across his face and coating the front of his clothes.
The smoke cleared, revealing the most gruesome thing to have beheld upon the deck of the mighty Barnacle. A majority of Tim’s head was completely blown off. What was left of it was a completely mangled mess. The rest of his body lay in the mix of black ooze, blood, and brain matter.
The rest of the crew was completely taken aback as they turned to see what had been done. Jean dropped the cat and a hand flew to his mouth. He almost felt like he was going to vomit. “Mon dieu…” was all he could mutter. Arabella stared with tears coming down her face and Tumen still couldn’t bear to look.
Fitzwilliam lowered his weapon as the ringing finally subsided enough for him to hear Arabella calling him.
“Fitz!”
He turned his head towards her.
“What do we do now?” Arabella asked in a shaky voice.
“Um…” Fitzwilliam turned to the remains of the boy. “We have to dispose of the body.” He turned back to his friends. “Arabella, go find extra canvas below deck. Jean, Tumen, you two help me throw over the body.”
The crew of the Barnacle wrapped the body of their deceased friend in the extra canvas that was stowed away in the cargo hold and they tossed it over the railing of the boat. It landed in the water with a splash and it immediately sank below the surface.
The boys got to work scrubbing the deck as Arabella slowly approached the one person in the crew that wasn’t present throughout everything that just happened.
“Jack?”
Jack Sparrow stood at the bow of the Barnacle, staring at the dark, sparkling sea ahead. He was completely still and he hadn’t moved in a while.
“Jack? Are ye alright?” Arabella asked. “You’ve not been with us during all of this.”
Jack did not respond, still staring intently at sea. It was almost like something was keeping him from responding. His fingers gripped the railing so tightly, his knuckles went white and his nails dug into the wood, beginning to bleed. His elbows and shoulders were almost in a locked position.
Arabella slowly approached him.
“Jack?” she was starting to get annoyed. “Aren’t ye gonna say anything?”
Jack still didn’t respond. His heavy breathing grew a little quicker.
Arabella went to his side and leaned over, trying to look at his face. She couldn’t get a good look as his hair covered most of his face.
“Jack!”
Still nothing.
Arabella’s annoyance grew into anger with a hint of concern. “GODDAMNIT JACK SPARROW! JUST LOOK AT ME!” She stepped back and put her hands on her hips.
Without loosening his grip on the railing, Jack slowly turned to barely face her, looking over his shoulder. She could still hardly see his face, but it was apparent that he was not alright and it made her heart drop. Through his hair and the angle he was facing her, she could see how pale his face was and how sunken in his wild bloodshot eyes were.
