Courfeyrac grew up in the country in a cottage in the mountains. His mother was always wary of town and civilization but Courf was a generous young man with a keen mind that she felt was being wasted shut away from everything. So after months of preparing and pleading he was allowed to go to Paris for schooling and he could hardly be more excited. Except, the night before he was to depart, his father took him aside and told him the truth that his mother had always tried to deny. He was 1/32nd Troll as his his great great grandmother on his father's side had been a mountain troll. Courfeyrac was completely taken aback but his father assured him that it shouldn't be obvious to anyone else except he had slightly increased strength and, to put it nicely, could work up a bit of a stench when he over exerted himself. But he didn't let this dampen his enthusiasm and spirit and he threw himself into Paris with gusto and enthusiasm, quickly surrounding himself with a group of friends. When the king began his crack down on the supernaturally inclined, Courf, like his friends was incredibly offended. He thought that he served as proof that not all those that were different were bad. So he revealed his lineage to his friends and became a rallying point of enthusiasm for the group he helped them form known as Les Amis de l'Occult to stand up against the witch hunters and for the oppressed.
