“I’m sorry if I gave you the wrong impression.” + catradora?
“What the fuck?” Catra’s voice came out harsh, biting in a way that the wind whipping by them couldn’t accomplish. She stopped short, skidding on the rock below. “What did you just say to me?”
Adora came to a stop, panting a little from the exertion of running.
She frowned, half in confusion and half in hesitation. “I asked if you were finally going to come with me.” She offered a hand to Catra, waving insistently. “Come on. We don’t have much time until they catch up.”
Catra’s eyes narrowed, and she stayed stubbornly put. “What makes you think I’m going with you?”
“Catra, you just saved me,” Adora huffed. An edge of annoyance slipped into her voice. “So, what? Are you gonna try and pretend it doesn’t mean anything?” She asked, moving slowly over to where Catra had her arms crossed over her chest.
Catra scoffed, and leaned in closer to snarl in Adora’s face. “Oh, well, sorry if I gave you the wrong impression, Princess,” She said. “This doesn’t mean anything.”
Adora couldn’t help shaking her head. “Then why the fuck did you—”
“It doesn’t matter, idiot!” Catra was right in her face now, almost so close their faces were touching. “Why can’t you just—“
“Oh, just what?” Adora asked, eyebrows flying into her hairline. “Just—just pretend like everything is normal and not—” Her eyes dipped down to Catra’s lips, and she seemed to realize for the first time just how close they were.
Catra could feel her breath coming heavy, and swallowed hard. Her heart was racing, and she told herself it was the adrenaline and the exertion of running.
Adora hadn’t spoken. Her tongue darted out to wet her lips. Her eyes were blown wide and dark, and Catra knew she didn’t imagine it when they dipped down and lingered again on her lips.
Ignoring the alarm bells in her head, Catra was just starting to lean closer when she heard the sound of voices and running from behind them.
She looked back up at Adora, who had clearly just noticed. “This isn’t over,” Catra said, clearing her throat when it came out rough. “Understand?”
