So after fighting with my internet and my download site for 2 hours, I finally got the episode and WHOA - it was a LOT… so let us begin:
Magnus and Alec are really out here referring to themselves as “we” in conversation with Alec’s mother and it is perfection!... Please do continue … (honestly how are they not married yet, I mean?? lets live in reality people!) … Also, take notes: Izzy ships it, Maryse ships it, Alec ships it, Magnus ships it… in short, we all ship it… #Malec4ever #immortalhusbandswhochangetheworld
Maryse owned this episode in my opinion.... Her over-the-top entrance #myboys #ishouldrespectmyelders … Her entire story-line is amazing and unexpected and opens up a whole new world of possibilities going forward #hereforthis #kudostoNikola
I was sad that the mundane girl, Morgan, ended up getting attacked a second time (come on shadowhunters, do your job! There’s three of you in that club and your distracted asses can’t save one mundane girl!?! #we’realldoomed) - but for real, my girl Muddie!Morgan was not having Owl-boys shit in the first attack. She had good instincts and pepper spray and did not take it lying down. #yougogirl …. I do hope they can de-possess her or whatever…
So... Raphael wanted to become a daylighter to spend more time with Rosa before he lost her… now I have #feels … #RIPlittlesisterRosa - the Rizzy moment actually cleansed my soul - I detested every second of their time together but this gave them the end the story needed (Izzy promising to attend Rosa’s funeral because Raphael couldn’t go to the daytime ceremony was on point) …. However, *clears throat*... the fuck you doing Raphael???… Seriously? What the fuck did you DO???
Clary and Izzy should always fight together in tiny dresses and 5 inch heels… #thetrueparabatai - however, Clary needs to stop holding back important information just because she has #feels for Jace (and she needs learn to keep her daggers in her damn hands, like come on girl! WTF?) - Look bitch, it took Izzy two seconds to determine that Owl-boy was not Jonathan because she’s the weapons master of my heart. Wait… you know what I mean… let's move on....
I need Ollie to stop playing me - this bitch better be up to something because no one is that damn stupid #honestly #shutUP (also I do not trust the sexy doctor named Charlie and I’m waiting for his possessed ass to come after my Isabelle. - side note, Izzy totally looked like the power!Bisexual I know she is while staring at Muddie!Morgan)
Jace is being extremely foolish and selfish because he’s terrified (with good reason)... the boy can’t trust his own mind and it’s only getting worse… #spoileralert #owlboymuch???? #ishouldhaveseenthatcoming #idkmaybekillthedemoninsteadofhelpingher??? (or at least find me the number of her personal shopper because that #silverboobdress like... #damngirl)
In trying to find out that he’s been bestowed with the Mark Of Cain - Simon is pissing off a lot of people… Maia’s right, they should probably take a day off. Let’s lay this out, Simon’s power appears to slow/prevent natural healing for both werewolves and vampires - Simon and Maia go to Clary, who consulted Magnus as well as all known Shadowhunter runes and the Mark on Simon is not known. By anyone. Also the Seelie Queen has locked Simon out of the Seelie realm and Luke was forced to ask his vampire son to move out of werewolf territory. I could be reaching, but it seems like Simon had a #badday (Luke’s day seemed pretty shit too, #bytheway)
Question:: were there several lines/words that are hard to hear - idk if the actors are talking soft or fast or mumbling or if one of the mic guys was on vaca... but seriously wtf did Magnus just say? And Raphael, honey I didn’t catch that?
More importantly, How did Harry pull off that amazing Truman Capote accent????? #NAILEDIT #WHAT???
For the first time ever, Alec walked into the Hunter’s Moon without Magnus by his side. He swallowed a groan when he didn’t catch sight of his warlock of a boyfriend, the latter having been the one who decided on where and when they should meet. Letting out a breath, Alec walked further into the venue, trying to convey both of Isabelle’s confidence and Jace’s nonchalance while matching it to his own indifference. He was aware of the sudden silence that had followed his arrival. Alec noticed the glowing glares of the wolves and heard the vampires hiss. Alec was aware that the faeries’ whispers were about him and rolled his eyes at the oblivious - and obvious - mundanes, staring at his unglamoured runes in awe. Alec allowed himself a sigh of relief when he reached the bar counter and caught sight of Maia’s curls. The young werewolf was busy tending to others patrons and had yet to notice him. A few steps away stood Bat, the newest - unfortunate - addition to Luke’s pack.
Alec found himself holding his breath when Bat looked away from the glass he was drying and in his direction. Bat’s eyes widened in recognition, his Apple Adam bobbing up and down before he decided to make his way to him, towel slung over his shoulder. Alec went to meet him, crossing both arms over the counter.
“Can I get you anything, sir?”
Biting back a laugh at the honorific, Alec cleaned his throats and, ignoring the curious eyes tracing the rune on his neck, leaned forward.
“I was supposed to meet Magnus here, I was wondering if you had seen him around tonight.”
By the way his brow furrowed in confusion, Alec already knew that Bat had no idea of whom he was talking about.
“Who,?” He said, his head tilted to the side and making him ressemble a lost puppy.
“Magnus Bane?” Alec prompted, restraining himself from rolling his eyes. His irritation rose when Bat responded with a clueless shrug. “High Warlock of Brooklyn? About ye high, leaves glitter trails in his path?”
Bat alternated between shaking his head and lifting his shoulders at each suggestion Alec threw at him, his expression shifting from curious and confused to afraid and alarmed.
“All you need to know is that he could probably smite all of us with a snap of his fingers, a bored expression plastered on his face and a martini in his hand.”
Both of their heads snapped up at the sudden intervention and turned toward Maia, the latter watching them with an amused smirk and crossed arms. Letting out a chuckle, Maia shook her head and walked to Bat, propping an elbow up on his shoulder.
“How about we trade?” Maia suggested with a nod in Alec’s direction, “Go, I’ll handle him,” she grabbed the towel off his shoulder and whacked his arm with it, pushing Bat toward the other end of the bar.
Alec watched with a smirk as Bat almost ran up to fill a customer’s empty beer pint, almost tripping on his own feet in his haste to get away from him. His gaze then drifted to Maia, silently watching as she quickly cleaned the counter before throwing the towel behind her. He frowned when Maia crouched down and reached out under the bar, getting two shot glasses out and placing them in front of them.
“So,” Maia reached for a bottle of tequila, mindlessly spinning it in her hand when her fingers wrapped around it before she filled both glasses to the brim, “What brings you to the dark side of the town?”
Alec grabbed a glass and pulled it to him, absently playing with it as he took another look around the bar, hoping to catch a glimpse of Magnus’ red highlights or meet a golden-green gaze. Noticing his distraction, Maia didn’t let him the time to respond before she spoke up again.
“Magnus isn’t here. Hasn’t been here all night,” she leaned against the counter with a sigh, “I know that. You know that. And yet, you’re still here. So I’ll ask again,” Maia leaned forward, her eyes narrowed as she practically mouthed her next words, “what are you doing here, shadowhunter ? Hiding?”
Alec responded in kind, almost mimicking her taunting smirk. Surprisingly, her words held no malice, just a bit of curiosity and amusement. Tapping two fingers against the counter, she slid onto the stool and lifted a shoulder.
“A bit. Yeah,” he admitted, much to the young werewolf’s surprise.
“Aw, is the Big Bad Head of the Institute afraid?” Maia taunted on a false cooing voice.
Not rising to the bait, Alec snorted and looked up at Maia, a smirk pulling at his lips.
“You know us, nephilim brats: always whining or needy about something.”
“Well, I have met your brother.”
The small dog at Jace earned Maia a surprised, but genuine, laugh. Maia cocked an eyebrow in question and Alec responded by shaking his head. A comfortable silence fell between the two, only interrupted by the drunk laughter and clinking of glass.
“So, this is you escaping your responsibilities for a while,” Maia prompted, cocking her head to the side.
“I guess you could say that,” Alec sighed, “Well, it’s more of a break from work.”
Maia hummed, nodding her head and pursing her lips in thought. Clearing her throat, she pushed herself off the counter, grabbed her shot and held it in from not of her, an eyebrow raised in suggestion.
“This is what tequila shots are for.”
Alec eyed her with a furrowed brow before his gaze fell to his own glass, the clear liquid in it almost invisible. After a moment of pondering, he held up his gaze and met Maia’s gaze.
“To taking a break,” he toasted.
“To the world not ending anymore,” Maia retorted with a small smile
Alec returned her smile with one of his own and clinked his glass with hers before they downed their shots together. Both slammed their empty glasses back onto the counter with a resounding ‘clank’, Alec trying to hide a wince while Maia shook her head with her tongue out’ her nose scrunched up and her eyes squeezed shut. Clearing his throat, Alec looked back at her and frowned.
“I think I prefer beer,” he muttered
Maia snorted and grabbed both empty glasses, dropping them in the sink behind her before she knocked against the bar counter a couple of times.
“One pint of beer coming right up.”
Alec coughed into his fist, watching Maia walk to the other end of the bar, putting a hand on the small of Bat’s back as she passed by him. He watched as she stopped and smiled when she seemed to recognize a face. His phone buzzing in his back pocket put an end to his observation. Restraining a groan, Alec braced himself for whatever emergency he would, surely, be needed for and slipped his phone out of his pocket. Alec’s irritation quickly faded when he saw Magnus’ name flashing on the screen. With a smile pulling at his lips, Alec answered the call and brought the phone to his ear.
“Hey, I was starting to worry about you. Thought you got sucked into a black hole or something.”
Alec’s smile widened at the sound of Magnus’ huff of laughter.
“Considering our history and the world we live in, that doesn’t sound so far fetched,” he sighed, “I’d thought you’d be know, by now: I am the High Warlock of Brooklyn. I’m invincible.”
“Still,” Alec snorted at his dramatics, “what’s up, did something happened?”
“Nothing bad, don’t you fret darling. Those consultations have been slowly draining me, is all. My last meeting is going to be longer that I thought: Cat and I are dealing with this young warlock who’d be living in the mundane world with his fosters parents. His mark just appeared and-”
“Magnus,” Alec interrupted his boyfriend’s rambling, “it’s fine. You do what you have to do, I’ll just stop by later with some take-out from that place you like, on 5th Avenue.”
His words were followed by a long silence. Frowning, Alec took his phone away from his ear, making sure Magnus hadn’t hung on him.
“Magnus?”
“Alexander… Have I mention how much I love you?” Magnus breathed out.
“Yeah,” Alec huffed out a laugh, “once or twice. I love you too, by the way.”
“Good to know,” Magnus chuckled, “I’ll see you later.”
Alec hung up and slid the phone back into his pocket, not caring about the probably lovesick grin plastered on his face. Slightly distracted by the conversation that had just occurred, he didn’t notice the young woman leaving her group of friends and going to sit in the empty stool to his left. Alec startled at the sound of her clearing her throat, the noise putting an end to his daydreaming. He winced inwardly at his lack of awareness.
“Hi, do you mind if I join you?” she asked, tucking her hair behind her ear in false self-consciousness.
His mouth suddenly dry and his mind blank, Alec found himself gaping at her before he cleared his threat and shook his head. He averted his gaze from her as she grinned back in response and made herself comfortable on her stool, her manicured fingers tracing the brim of her glass
“I’ve never seen you before. Do you come here often?”
Alec restrained himself from wincing at the conversation opener/cringy picked up he had - wrongly - used before and looked up to where he had seen Maia disappear early. He swallowed a groan when seeing the young woman engage in an intense conversation with a vampire - Eloise, his mind supplied - across the counter. Bracing himself, he turned back to the blonde woman sitting next to him, the latter patiently waiting for a response. Alec tried to smile back - he was pretty it was more a grimace than a smile.
“I don’t, actually. Can’t find the time to do so.”
“Oooh,” her eyes widened as she took a sip of her drink, licking her lips, “Are you some kind of businessman or somethin’? ”
“Sure,” Alec muttered, wishing her could reach the bottle of tequila Maia had left by the sink.
As if she was - finally - picking on his discomfort and the awkwardness of the situation, she hummed and downed the rest of her drink, making Alec since as she gulped. An uncomfortable silence fell between the two as she toyed with her empty glass while Alec focused on averting his eyes from her. He hadn’t paid attention to how much time had passed before Maia reappeared in front of them, his beer in a hand and a martini. Ignoring the look he was giving her, Maia exchanged the drink for her empty glass, smiling at the other woman’s surprise.
“Don’t take it too personally, babe. My friend here,” Maia slid the chop to Alec, the latter automatically catching before it could fall of the counter, “is just a bit annoyed that his boyfriend stood him up,” she explained with a grimace of mock sympathy.
Alec stopped himself from scoffing, choosing to take a sip of his drinks instead. From the corner of his eye, he could see the young woman’s eyes widened in understanding. He watched as she slowly slipped off her stool and reached for her clutch before being stopped by Maia.
“It’s on the house,” she tilted her head to the side and offered her a kind smile.
Alec could swear he saw the tips of her ears going red before she scattered away, melting into the crowd. Alec breathed out a sigh of relief before he looked back to Maia, the latter staring blankly at him, obviously unimpressed. Alec shrugged, causing her to roll her eyes.
“That’ll be five bucks,” she announced, her gaze drifting to his pint before it lifted back to him.
“I thought I was your friend,” Alec retorted, raising an eyebrow at her.
“Eh. I shouldn’t have gone that far,” Maia said, scrunching up her nose, “reluctant allies is more like it. I would even say that so far, you’re the Lightwood I dislike the least.”
“High praises,” he deadpanned, lifting his beer in a toast like manner before taking a sip.
He was surprised - but somewhat pleased - when his sarcasm caused a chuckle to escape from Maia’s lips. She covered her mouth with two fingers and held in her laughter when meeting his eye. With a small smile, Alec reached for his wallet in his inside pocket and got a bill of ten out of it. He shoved his wallet back in his pocket and ignored Maia’s glare when the latter - forcefully, might he had - tried to shove his change in his joined hands. Alec watched with a smirk when she scoffed and put the loose pieces of money in her back pocket with a muttered ‘your loss’. With a loud sigh, Maia placed both hands on the counter, her fingers absently drumming against it.
“Not that I enjoy our time together, but this work isn’t actually a facade and not all customers tip so heavily as you,” she said, rolling her eyes at him when he frowned in mock confusion. “Think you can handle yourself without magic king girls away?”
Alec was the one to roll his eyes at the small jab.
“I’m sure I’ll be fine without you acting as my knight. I’ll be out of your hair in no time, anyway.”
“I know,” she said. Alec’s now real confusion caused Maia to smirk as if she know something he didn’t, “Werewolf super-hearing, remember? Pretty sure most of the bar heard your lovely exchange. I’m also pretty sure neither of you will have a reputation anymore tomorrow.”
“Oh,” Alec blinked a couple of times before regaining his composure, “ I guess we’ll see about that in the morning.”
“I guess we will,” Maia conceded with an amused smile. She, then, sobered and held a hand, plastering a serious expression on her face, “Well, then. Good luck out there, Mr Lightwood.”
Letting out a small laugh, Alec cleared his threat and tried to match her solemn attitude.
“Good luck out there, Miss Roberts.”
His smile widened when he caught the surprise shining in her brown eyes. As he shook her hand, Alec couldn’t help but marvel at their sizes and how his own hand engulfed hers, like it would engulf Isabelle. The back of it was soft but Maia’s palm was as calloused as his. She seems to keep her nails short, unbothered by her chipped dark nail polished but Alec was aware of the retractable claws that hid beneath.
Alec hadn’t known what he had been expecting from that simple handshake. It held no official significance and, yet it had felt like it. It wasn’t as if they had made a blood pack and yet, Alec felt as if they had just permanently seal a bond. Maia had held her hand in a joking fashion and yet, none that Alec had shaken it, the previously feigned seriousness had became real.
Maia gave his hand a last squeeze, shot him one last smile and then, slipped out of his grasp and disappear from his sight. Alec took a look around the bar, his gaze drifting from vampires and werewolves laughing to the same jokes, to seediest socializing with mundanes, and felt like the gap separating each of them was slowly closing.
For the first time in what seemed like forever, Alec felt at peace.
