Shadowhunters 3.03 - Immediate Reaction

So after fighting with my internet and my download site for 2 hours, I finally got the episode and WHOA - it was a LOT… so let us begin:

Magnus and Alec are really out here referring to themselves as “we” in conversation with Alec’s mother and it is perfection!... Please do continue … (honestly how are they not married yet, I mean?? lets live in reality people!) … Also, take notes: Izzy ships it, Maryse ships it, Alec ships it, Magnus ships it… in short, we all ship it… #Malec4ever #immortalhusbandswhochangetheworld

Maryse owned this episode in my opinion.... Her over-the-top entrance #myboys #ishouldrespectmyelders … Her entire story-line is amazing and unexpected and opens up a whole new world of possibilities going forward #hereforthis #kudostoNikola

I was sad that the mundane girl, Morgan, ended up getting attacked a second time (come on shadowhunters, do your job! There’s three of you in that club and your distracted asses can’t save one mundane girl!?! #we’realldoomed) - but for real, my girl Muddie!Morgan was not having Owl-boys shit in the first attack. She had good instincts and pepper spray and did not take it lying down. #yougogirl …. I do hope they can de-possess her or whatever…

So... Raphael wanted to become a daylighter to spend more time with Rosa before he lost her… now I have #feels … #RIPlittlesisterRosa - the Rizzy moment actually cleansed my soul - I detested every second of their time together but this gave them the end the story needed (Izzy promising to attend Rosa’s funeral because Raphael couldn’t go to the daytime ceremony was on point) …. However, *clears throat*... the fuck you doing Raphael???… Seriously? What the fuck did you DO???

Clary and Izzy should always fight together in tiny dresses and 5 inch heels… #thetrueparabatai - however, Clary needs to stop holding back important information just because she has #feels for Jace (and she needs learn to keep her daggers in her damn hands, like come on girl! WTF?) - Look bitch, it took Izzy two seconds to determine that Owl-boy was not Jonathan because she’s the weapons master of my heart. Wait… you know what I mean… let's move on....

I need Ollie to stop playing me -  this bitch better be up to something because no one is that damn stupid #honestly #shutUP (also I do not trust the sexy doctor named Charlie and I’m waiting for his possessed ass to come after my Isabelle. - side note, Izzy totally looked like the power!Bisexual I know she is while staring at Muddie!Morgan)

Jace is being extremely foolish and selfish because he’s terrified (with good reason)... the boy can’t trust his own mind and it’s only getting worse… #spoileralert #owlboymuch???? #ishouldhaveseenthatcoming #idkmaybekillthedemoninsteadofhelpingher??? (or at least find me the number of her personal shopper because that #silverboobdress like... #damngirl)

In trying to find out that he’s been bestowed with the Mark Of Cain - Simon is pissing off a lot of people… Maia’s right, they should probably take a day off. Let’s lay this out, Simon’s power appears to slow/prevent natural healing for both werewolves and vampires - Simon and Maia go to Clary, who consulted Magnus as well as all known Shadowhunter runes and the Mark on Simon is not known. By anyone. Also the Seelie Queen has locked Simon out of the Seelie realm and Luke was forced to ask his vampire son to move out of werewolf territory. I could be reaching, but it seems like Simon had a #badday (Luke’s day seemed pretty shit too, #bytheway) 

Question:: were there several lines/words that are hard to hear - idk if the actors are talking soft or fast or mumbling or if one of the mic guys was on vaca... but seriously wtf did Magnus just say? And Raphael, honey I didn’t catch that? 

More importantly, How did Harry pull off that amazing Truman Capote accent????? #NAILEDIT #WHAT???

Shadowhunters 3.05 :: Immediate Reaction

I have to say first that I enjoyed this episode. It was well paced, covered one day and every scene kept me interested, engaged and wanting more… #kudos #maytheangelbewithyou #MartiniMondays!!!!

So we begin with the story of Lilith and the day that everything went right - Goth Demon lady managed to hoodwink the most powerful warlock in New York - CHECK (bringing up Ragnor and the soldier lover was cold....)  - Summon a Demon with the help of a cute chauffeur - CHECK - Transform into a dragon, kill an angel and collect a sliver of Clary’s soul - CHECK - Remove Clary’s interference over Jace to seal him into Owl!boy mode - CHECK - Look fabulous in every goddamned second of her life - CHECK - #letsmakeadeal  #mysoulforyourcloset??? 

Magnus and Alec are dealing with an inevitable issue today - Alec is 100% devoted to Magnus and their life together (and wants to move in when they have been seeing each other for a mere 8 weeks) but Magnus has 400+ years of baggage and maybe Alec doesn’t love that all that much, but he has to get over it…#gayupbitch....  (Neither of them are in the wrong here, it’s an issue of perspective)… Thankfully, Alec comes clean about his actions and feelings but Magnus is rightfully upset (and distracted) - also, he does not owe an explanation or apology for having a life before Alec (for real he is centuries old)... Clearly, nothing about this is even close to being resolved… #relationshipstakeffort #andtrust  #bittersweetkisses 

Alec and the New Head of Security Dude’s talk - Gays Unite in 20gayteen - but Alec totally gets called out for his “trusting and loving” relationship right after he overstepped that trust …  #goodjobidiot

Izzy reluctantly agrees to a date with the Doctor Charlie, whom I do not trust but their scenes were cute... however, I think Charlie has a hidden agenda… I’m calling it now--- if he was a mundane, wouldn’t he ask about her runes??? or can he not see them???? #what????

Jace decides to help Simon and they end up dealing with part 1 of the “Kyle” issue - Simon calling Jace a “good friend” and Jace replying with “friend of a friend” .LOL but for real. we don’t have time for this guys, just kiss and make-up - But Jace did Simon a solid here and that was his last stand before.. #ohdamn

Anyway... after Clary finally admits (to Luke) that she used the Angel’s wish to bring Jace back from the dead, she and Luke go to Luke’s farm!!! #farmdaddy In hopes that Cleophas can help them contact Itherial (Nice to bring back Cleophas and let Clary have a good idea but where’s Dot?) .... wait...DID Dragon!Lilith JUST RIP OUT THE HEART OF AN ANGEL WTFFFFFFFFFFF!?????? (omg...  So Clary used the wish from Raziel and got Itherial killed?.... The Clave is going to be .. totally understanding... right???) 

Anyway.... Jace goes to Alec before turning himself over to the Silent Brothers for treatment .. #takeyourownadvice #parabatai...what? (too bad how his night goes, really he just wanted a drink and to hear Simon’s new song) - Also, where is Maia?  

Notes:::: Was Alec there when Magnus was meeting with Lilith??? (the clothes are the same…) Where did Lilith get a piece of Clary’s clothes??? (Has Owl boy been creepin) But the small detail that Izzy had burrowed Clary’s dress for her date and so the demon tracked HER !!!! #loveit #thoughtfulwriting #maytheangelbewithyou 

One glaring issue we all know is that it is now canon and locked into the impossible timeline - Malec have been “seeing each other for less than 2 months” - so I’m assuming that refers to 206-305 = 8 weeks (via Harry’s interviews)  - this effects everyone and of course they brought it up within Malec so it defines their relationship and not how fucking weird it is to think that all of the show so far covers about 3 months… It doesn’t work and we all know it…

“May the angel be with you” - the war is on it’s way… and we’re down a few players here....  Also everyone’s heard of Clary Fairchild because she keeps fucking shit up. That’s my firecracker... but also, girl.... like, STOP

3.07 Follow Up - Salt & Irony

So we got two conversations at the institute that are overloaded with information - everyone finally sharing what the know with everyone else so we can finally start getting shit done #Blessed - However, there were a few weird cuts to the dialogue that makes me think those scenes were longer or edited down #justsaying #giveusextenedscenes

I wanted to see Alec learn about Jace’s condition and instead we seem to pick up halfway into the conversation about it… Also, Magnus already identified Lilith so… no time has passed since the end of last episode but like, some time has. Does this show know how time works???

Clary tells Alec that she understands if he has to send her to the guard and I was so proud of my little firecracker for taking responsibility for herself… Alec’s look when Simon tried to intervene was gold - like “bitch is your name Alec? Are you head of this institute? No? Then step back sunny vamp boy.”

Some of the dialogue this season is really clunky and yes Magnus, I’m looking at you on this one. #dramaticwarlock #15thecenturyspeachpatturns #what?

Allicate is pretty and cool and I want a fancy Rune door to my fancy Rune office but like if you blink you miss it #needsmoreAllicate …. And I’m gonna miss Imogene, they were finally making her likable and now she’s dead dead dead

The Maia/Jordan arc could have been done with less scenes/time #justsaying - it felt off in this high paced episode. Every time they came on screen the momentum stalled - however, Maia looks flawless as always, Jordan looks like he needs a haircut and an attitude adjustment. #fightmeweredick

Thankfully, Luke did not know about Jordan Kyle’s connection to Maia - that would have been awkward. (probably like his little talk with Ollie)

The souls possessed by Lilith are still human and therefore Simon’s mark causes them to disintegrate upon attacking him #oops #safetyshieldforehead #TheBodyguard

Clary’s getting pretty comfortable with that protal rune and Magnus’ face when the cage pops up in his living room is so like “can’t a warlock have a drink in peace” #givemagnusabreak

I don’t think anyone is talking about the best moment of the episode, when the new Counsel of the Clave referred to Alec, Izzy and Clary as The Crown Jewels of the New York Institute - also,  #Kudos to the person who came up with the term: The Malachi Configuration

So for 308 we get Queen L VS. Queen S and all I’m saying is Lilith could provide the Seelie Queen with a new dress? She might be more inclined to be helpful… also, How did Owl!Jace find out about Magnus’ past relationship with a soldier? Is that info from Lilith? We know Alec never confided in Jace regarding his relationship (LMAO).... So Owl!Jace is becoming more Lilith the longer he’s possessed? #Owlboyinanowlcage #sassy!Owl #stepoffbitchIwillpunchyou

Shadowhunters 3.06 - Immediate Reaction

Warning: Spoilers 

Like a smart little firecracker, Clary goes to Magnus for help identifying the Demon she encountered last episode and he proceeds to figure everything out in .5 seconds with the help of a certain Silent Brother (I’m sorry that scene must have been so weird to film #teleawkward but Brother Zacharia is hot!!!! ) Anyway, Magnus then faces off with the Owl after Clary throws away her weapons. again… #comeongirl #epicwarlockslidetotherescue #duh and Luke, our hot cop in action, shoots the owl - thus revealing Owl!Jace to Clary, Magnus and Luke - but Ollie is possessed now and is headed off to kill her lady lover. #99problems

If both the Head of the Institute and the Head of Security are out getting drinks, who is in charge at the institute and more importantly, don’t you people have a demon to find? Never mind Magnus is taking care of it… (by the way, was Alec drinking Magnus’ heartache drink???) I wonder how Alec will react when he finds out that while he was out getting drunk and being salty, Magnus was actually busy doing his boyfriends damn job and finding the Owl’s identity? (they aren’t even fighting about the same thing, come on boys get back on track now, we’re tired)

Underhill is a nice dude who supports Alec as Head of the Institute, defends Alec’s mother from a jerk Shadowhunter guy with bad hair #stepoffjerkguy... Then he let his superior officer vent while drunk, offering him an escape from awkward drunk!Family time and solid relationship advice... I love that he mentioned that Shadowhunters fall in love once and maybe Alec’s awesome warlock boyfriend doesn’t understand their ways… (seriously the guy is a Malec fanboy #betterhalf #legiteveryoneshipsmalec  - Underhill, Maryse, Izzy, Clary.)

Maryse should let her hair down more often… #justsaying..

For real can Charlie not see the Runes all over Izzy and her brothers??? -- Smooth Sizzy moment and more badass Izzy, but for real why didn’t she pull out her whip against Heidi sooner? that bitch should have been dead on the first hit - or did Raphael’s experiments make her strong? #valentinemuch?? #aca-what????

Jace and Alec’s scene was so awkward like… brothers. O wait… and why is possessed Jace holding Clary’s hand??? #badtake #comeoneditorsdoyouworkhere????

Why did Clary call Luke from outside the hunters moon to ask if he was at the hunters moon?... #justsaying

Ollie still hasn't learned to shut up or at least whisper and now she’s possessed. Let’s be honest people, we all saw it coming 

Was Simon right to have the Praetor deal with Heidi? He has no way of knowing they aren’t worse than the Clave…

Most importantly, how long until the Malec and Luke/Maryse family dinner/double date????

So I assume next week we’re going to start with them tracking down Ollie before she kills her girl?? And an epic talk between Magnus and Alec about their relationship… #comeonguys #kissandmakeupsex

3.05 Follow Up Review - Hotter than Hell

Lilith is a stone cold bitch and I respect that. She’s a good villain...Own it girl… o wait.…. She means to destroy the world and kill Jace… eh… #doyourthanggirl

When Magnus leaves after the “move in” convo, he looks like a student who’s late for class, which is so cute… our 400 year old schoolboy rushing off to learn #newstuffs… but for real, Alec was in the Loft when Magnus met with Lilith and neither of them noticed the presence of a demon… wtf??? 

Alec is legit freaking out all episode over shit he KNEW and it’s going to blow over but it always had to happen so let's give our young (inexperienced) gay son a moment to breath and deal with the fact that his gay ass fell in love with a legendary immortal man who likely wrote at least 69% of gay history. #itisknown #moveonandbeimmortal

Jace needs to stop pretending like he doesn’t care about Simon. I think he sees Simon as Clary’s little brother (even though Simon is older than Clary) …. #goodfriendvsfriendofafriend - honestly, if I saw their thing in real life, I would assume they fuck on the downlow…

… does Charlie see Izzy’s runes? Is that part glamored from him??? I mean… if he could see her insane amount of tattoos, wouldn’t that have been a bigger question than the bracelet?? (AND OMG she remade the demon tracker necklace into a bracelet… I LOVE IT ) 

Clary actually had a solid idea here - confiding in Luke, seeking out the angel’s help, etc... but then a dragon showed up and yeah... Clary’s damn screwed... 

Jace is 25 miles up a creek without his paddle. Good luck in the battle of emo haired blonde vs. dirty emo haired blonde… JC vs. JC… I feel like an NSYNC Song is coming #tearinupmysoul 

Okay so 2 months from 2.06-3.05 (fucking timeline…why must shows do this…. ) Malec = less than 2 months - so overall we’re at 3ish months... which means:: Simon and Jace are sluttly slut boys… Izzy owned an addiction that should have crippled her within like a week… Jace deals with 800 things while maintaining floppy emo hair (maybe he’s born with it, Maybe it’s the demon possession)... Clary becomes an elite shadowhunter  - Simon does .. all of that… Luke sleeps till he’s needed…. Simon and Maia met 2 months ago and have been “together” for like a week.. I hate reton timelines. Fuck the writers for this - we knew it was coming but COME ON - they know as much as we do that this is not fathomable 

Luke remains everyone’s dad (and i would gladly call him daddy if thats his thing)

Itherial is dead - therefore no more new runes for Ms. Fray… did I mention Clary is about to get fucked sideways by the Clave???? And it’s not the good kind...

3.06 Follow Up - Pure Souls, Pure Sins

The Malec argument is hard to watch for so many reasons, but I get both sides and I swear on Valentine’s ghost I’m 3 seconds away from locking them both in a room and forcing them to speak to each other about WHAT each if them are actually talking about, because they are not on the same page here and it’s frustrating as hell... #onlyhappyMalec #20gayteen

Anyway, with bits and pieces of information and a dragon demon drawing from Clary, Magnus connects A to B with F and U with only like 7 minutes of screentime… this is why they don’t use him more often. If Magnus were in charge, this shit would have been handled back in ep1 #justsaying (Shout Out to Bro Zac for being so damn EPIC) 

So Maia was out of town yesterday last episode and she’s the most understanding girlfriend in the world about the Heidi situation… something tells me that won’t be the case for the Kyle/Jordan issue. #poorgirl #epicjackets #WALKWALKFASHIONBABY... sorry for what’s next, yo...

I call bullshit on Clary thinking that Jace was “being weird” in their one scene at the institute because it looked no different - he hugged her, he held her hand, he walked away with her… he just refused to talk to her and from that small interaction she insists that NOW he’s acting weird… not all the hallucination dreams or being brought back from the dead ???? #butgooffIguess

So Owl!Boy Jace can see people aura’s or whatever and he has to find the most virtuous mundanes  for Lilith … and what do you know - Ollie? CHECK. - Charlie? CHECK - but how will he choose? O right he’ll just wait till one is alone… ish. #thatwentwell 

If you don’t ship Maryse and Luke you are wrong. #blushingteensflirtingintheir40s

Underhill is surprised to see Alec Lightwood a little wasted and before his boss can overshare, the dude gets him a sober cab and sends his drunk ass home - while providing an escape and the solid advice Alec was seeking...  #respect #seeyouroundunderdude 

While I love my drunk gay son, Alec honey your boyfriend is, as you say, an 800 year old warlock (fact check with Magnus please) - Magnus is “too different” from literally everyone else ever!!! Come on now, what was he supposed to say to that question? What is he supposed to say now? - Are you both different? Very much so… Do you both love each other anyway? Yes. So there was nothing else to think about… don’t turn good memories into bad ones just because you’re scared… And Magnus, honey, your bedside manner could do with a few upgrades. I mean, Alec isn’t focused on the box here. He’s worried about what it represents because he doesn’t want to ever leave you…. Ugh. Just talk to each other dammit. #imsotired

Okay so Luke shoots Owl!Jace - forcing him to unglamour … Mundie!Morgan pepper sprayed Owl!Jace and he ran off in much the same way…. So my guess is Owl!Jace is immune to injury but he still feels pain… Pain that Jace can’t process because he’s lost control of his mind… Gee I wonder if this has anything to do with being brought back from the dead??? #justsaying #willClaryfinallytellAlec #please

So going into episode 7, I have a lot of questions but only one I will leave you with today... How damn gorgeous is Maryse Lightwood? I mean. WOW

3.04 Follow Up Review - Lies from the Soul

So while Jace thinks he’s sleeping, he’s actually acting double time as the Owl!boy demon under Litlith control - and of course she provided him with a tricked out Leather outfit, complete with combat boots and a demon possession.#maybehesbornwithit #maybeitsdemonmindcontrol

Maia is being completely unreasonable. The wolves have been trying to get Simon out of their territory since day 1. Now that he’s a real threat, Luke’s hand is forced but like, Simon should have left the boat house a long time ago…. #justsaying

Wait… does this mean that Luke orchestrated the whole Simon meeting Jordan thing? Does he know about Jordan and Maia? … i hope not but like, What did Luke do??? Who does special Simon “belong to” now? … #what???… and take note: We have just witnessed the beginning of the end of Saia…(I am worried Luke knows,,. Because “Kyle” obviously does)

So Alec lost his parabatai rune in 2.20 and even though it re-appeared, he feels different now… he can't read Jace anymore...  Alec feels like he is failing in his duty, both as a parabatai and as head of the institute because mundanes are being murdered by a demon they can't find… (spoiler alert: the demon is Jace, aka the lost parabatai …) But Alec’s comfort is Magnus … however he is bothered by how often he goes to Magnus for help (Lorenzo did call out Magnus’ high warlock as helping the Shadowhunters too much) … 

Clary is a terrible liar… #justsaying but I was glad to see her hold onto her weapons in a fight. #Shadowhunterintraining?? 

Izzy won't report Raphael for turning the mundane… so long as he leaves New York, Tonight - is this actually going to happen because we love Raphael! He’s leader of the NY clan and he’s Magnus’ son, he can’t just disappear...

Will anyone catch Heidi before she kills more mundanes? #openseasononmundies

Owl! Jace chats some stuff and  removes the demon from Mundie!Morgan before Magnus has the chance to examine her and track Lilith…. #timeingiseverything..

Simon and Heidi both have way to much screen time in this episode #justsaying 

O god ok… is Magnus going to give Lilith something that helps her and he clearly doesn't know who she is or what it's really for???... this opens up a world of possibilities… in ep2 Alec asked why Lorenzo would accuse Magnus of working with the greater demon??? What if he DOES???? #shook

3.01 -  follow up review - The weapons of choice

So I finally got the chance to take a moment to watch Shadowhunters s3 premiere on Freeform on demand (gotta make sure they get ratings credit) and here are my follow up thoughts. My immediate reaction can be read HERE

Can we all take a moment to appreciate whoever got rid of the terrible opening sequence/dialogue from 2b? Thank the Angel we don’t have to waste screen time on that nonsense anymore

Clary is slowly realizing that her wish to bring Jace back to life was short sighted and selfish but she can’t bring herself to regret it saving him, still she hates lying to Alec and Izzy (also Izzy’s kick would have broken the glass on that vending machine. Just saying)

It’s clear that Clary learned how to be a terrible liar from Luke, he’s like a little puppy who destroyed the couch and then looks at Ollie like “it wasn’t me” but he’s covered in stuffing and guilt 

I like that they are using the classic back story of Lilith - Adam’s first wife, barren, etc. - great intro for the new villain. Also, her look is on point, beautiful but dangerous 

Clary’s backflip is better than Jace’s - her flip has purpose, he looks like he’s just peacocking. Also, the flips aren’t needed.

The demon that possessed Tim was a creepy contortionist. However, I think it was too easy for Clary to kill it.

Magnus tells Raphael that Larenzo Rey is a pompous ass and he orchestrated the whole thing that cost Magnus his title as high warlock. So is Larenzo working with the Seelie Queen??? 

Raphael is going to get grounded by his warlock father for being a naughty naughty vampire liar. Shame on you Raphael 

I love how malec is written so wording and phrasing matters, it’s real… Alec didn’t tell anyone else about the counsel offer because he wanted to stay with Magnus… Magnus wanted to be supportive of Alec’s career ambitions but neither of them wanted to be separated from each other… This was an amazing way to show us how committed they are to their relationship, even if sometimes things get lost in translation - also, I love that Cat speaks to Alec as Magnus’ partner 

As my final thought, I have to say I prefer Sarah Hayland’s Seelie Queen to the little girl. Sarah fits the part better for me - in looks and manor. Especially when dealing with Simon
