"One chose to avert his eyes away from the truth..."
fine, i'll give you a show... don't blink now.
If Adachi had a shadow self that he had to accept what do you think it would be like and what kind of things would it say?
Well, shadows are a person's repressed thoughts and emotions, right?
I think that what Adachi is repressing is his need for human connection. He talks about being better off alone, about how trusting people only sets you up for disappointment, and all that, but it's very obvious that his behavior is detrimental to him, so I think his shadow would point out that his hyper independence is caused by his fear of rejection and that always looking for the worst in people is only making him miserable.
(“You insist you don’t need other people, but, the truth is, you’re scared of being let down that you won’t even take the risk.”)
Adachi is a tsundere edgelord, so I think his shadow might show at least some positive emotions. He says he hates everything about the world, so his shadow might call him out on the fact that there are clearly things he enjoys, that there are people he cares about, so it’s a lie to say there’s nothing good in his life.
(“Deep down, you’re pissed at yourself because you wasted your whole life studying your ass off and you still failed to earn the life you worked so hard for. But that’s too painful to admit, so, instead, you take your anger out in the world. If you’re going down, you’re taking everyone down with you... isn’t that what you think? It’s hilarious! You’ve been pushing people away all your life but now that the consequences of your actions have finally caught up to you, you suddenly don’t want to be alone anymore, do ya?”)
Adachi also avoids blame for the murders, justifying it to himself by saying that he didn’t know Yamano would die (as if that makes it okay to push her into another dimension) and that it’s the world that kills them (... who do you think pushes them into the world... ._.), so maybe his shadow would call him a coward for it.
(“You talk all high and mighty for a guy who can’t even take proper responsibility for his crimes, y’know. You insist you don’t care, but, if that’s true, then why do you keep making excuses for yourself? Is it because you can’t accept that there wasn’t any real reason to murder them, that you were just throwing a tantrum... that there wasn’t any big, righteous explanation behind it that paints you as the hero in your own narrative? Geez. You’re pathetic.)
Well, that would be my personal interpretation of it. As for how it would act, I think it’d be mostly like Adachi, calm and smooth but condescending and taunting at the same time. It’d definitely drive him up a wall.
