GNOD – Shadow Mirror
SPIRIT WALK by Richie Tankersley Cusick WALK OF THE SPIRITS This was a very interesting story Although it felt kind of slow to start and at times I felt that some of the emotions and reactions were a little over done like the characters were just so emotional about everything and I'm not sure what purpoise it served Most of the time I felt the main character was over reacting to everything but it may have to do with the fact that she and her mom had just lost everything to a hurricane and she had a lot of adjusting to do moving to a new state, with a grandfather you didn't know existed most of your life, and then being told you weren't allowed to meet him even though you were living in his garage ... and then finding out that like him you can talk to ghosts ... maybe she wasn't completely overreacting after all... Most of the characters are likeable but not all are fully explored there are a lot of things that kind of feel like they were forgotten about because something else happened but those may be touched on in the next book I was kind of hoping for a more eventful ending It just feels like after all the work that went into it more would have happened *side note* this book kept making me want to listen to The Band Perry because of the souther setting SHADOW MIRROR This second book had a much creepier Halloween kind of feel to it I honestly couldn't put it down to go to sleep because some of the scenes were so scary to picture that I just had to see how it ended before I could rest 😂😂 There's still a lot of unresolved things at the end but I guess they weren't that important to the story 🤷♀️ like we don't get to see Ashley's decision, Miranda never confronts her mom about her abilities, we never learn the secret between her grandfather and Etienne ... like so much just feels unresolved 😕 I still can't believe her mom and aunt never suspected people were sneaking into their house at night I'm still getting The Band Perry vibes but I think it's mostly the setting 😂 Either way it was a good story
THE THING I HATE THE MOST IS WHEN A BOOK IN A SERIES ENDS SO IT SETS UP FOR ANOTHER ONE AND THEN THERE IS NO NEXT ONE. TH SERIES JUST END! LIKE HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO ME.AFTER ALL THAT TIME I CARED FOR THE CHARACTERS AND THE PLOT AND I WAS SO INVESTED AND YOU END UP NOT WRITING ANOTHER ONE GOSH HOW CAN YOU BE SO CRUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spirit Walk (Walk if the Spirits and Shadow Mirror) By Richie Tankersley Cusick
7/10
While I really enjoyed the plot the storyline and the Nancy Drew-esk detective work the story either seemed rushed or underdeveloped the romance, power and character development was either BAM or we’ll get there we’ll get there or we just passed it didn’t you like it? And in the Beginning Miranda, who granted has just lost her home and everything she’s ever known, bothered me she was all poor me poor me everyone leave me alone. Yet when she meets her grandfather she’s placed in this impossible situation with powers she doesn’t understand but she stops thinking about herself and starts accepting her destiny. Also I felt that the love triangle was placed in there just to meet the expectations of a love triangle for teen fiction and was annoying. But I did really really love the story overall.
Quotes:
“’Fifteen minutes,’ she said, climbing out.
‘At least, I gotta park my truck somewhere else. And walk all the way back. And sneak all the way in. Secret rendezvous, you know… they take time.’"
“Hanky panky is most definitely not allowed till you take my niece out on a proper first date!”
“’I suppose you’re loving this. I suppose you think Ashley should go out with him’
‘With me?’ Etienne looked at Ashley. ‘Mais, yeah, I definitely think she should go out with me.’
‘No. Streak Fuller.’
‘You think Streak Fuller should go out with me?’ Etienne raised an eyebrow. ‘He’s not really my type but…’"
