Desire is rarely random.

The things that pull at us, especially the ones we feel we must justify, often trace back to something we were taught to suppress.

Control. Surrender. Intensity. Devotion. Hunger.

Shadow work does not ask you to act on every desire. It asks you to understand it.

- What does it represent? - What version of you does it awaken? - What were you told would happen if you embraced it?

Desire is not the enemy, but unexamined shame is.

Shadow Work: Protection

We do not hate randomly.

Projection is one of the mind’s oldest defense mechanisms.

The person who “talks too much.” The one who is “too confident.” The one who is “too needy.” The one who refuses to shrink.

Often, what unsettles us most in others is something we were told we were not allowed to be.

The shadow prefers to stay external but ownership brings it home.

The Shadow is not evil

Shadow work is the practice of meeting the parts of yourself you were taught to hide.

Most people secretly believe their shadow equals “bad.” That it’s the toxic parts. The shameful parts. The parts that must be controlled.

But in dark fantasy... and in real inner work... the shadow is often where a person’s true power lies.
