Why the fanon straight ships of these fandoms are always better than the canon straight ones?

When the day is good but then I remember my old Tales of Arcadia ships... not that they were bad (for the most part) but I went about them very weirdly

for example

the day is good until I remember that the first fanfiction or au or whatever the fluck that I ever created was for these two in 2020-2021. AND IT WAS AWFUL TOO!! Warstaff was also a main ship in that AU so life is... interesting.

the day is good until I get flashbacks to when I took 2 dayquils and stared at THIS image for 30 minutes on the car ride back from a Royal Caribbean cruise then listened to Class of 09 gameplay until I fell aleep and THEN proceeded to have a dream shipping THESE TWO together. And lowkey? It was adorable.

the day is good until I remember the smut fic I stumbled upon with these two in January and have never been the same since. There was a prequel with no smut though and that one was pretty good.

the day is good until I remember the movie. No further comment.

the day is good until I remember Wizards and how it treated them. I won't say anymore but I made a whole post about it if you want to check that out.

and perhaps worst of all...

the day is good until I remember I used to hate this ship so much solely because I didn't like Toby. Now not only do I love Toby (like he's my favorite, tied with Claire) but I'm THE number 1 HammerHunter shipper. IN CASE yall weren't aware.

Anyway uh while my opinions have changed I still can appreciate content for all of these ships (except Jim and Douxie that shit is ass) and any other one as long as it's legal.

But special shoutout to HammerHunter, Claja, and surprisingly Jeves for holding me together in all trying times.
