macduff thane of fife one of the Characters of all time. he's constantly experiencing the horrors. his one and only solution to problems is always Sword and for some fucking reason the stars align to make it work out for him every single time. you wouldn't wish that on your worst enemy but he would. he has never once been the bigger person in his entire life and he wants to do things to macbeth that go against several war crimes conventions. duncan hired him because his approximate 3 brain cells are more than the rest of duncan's court combined. his only purpose is to be a narrative foil. he's canonically a deadbeat father. he's apparently the only person in the entirety of scotland who can defeat macbeth and save the country but he's too busy angsting over his dead wife to actually fucking do it until his controversially younger boyfriend tells him to stop being a pussy and start resorting to violence like a man to which he immediately obeys because malcolm has him trained like a dog. he's probably bisexual but he has a war to fight so he doesn't gaf about that rn. he's so doggedly loyal to the crown that it becomes his only defining character trait, and also he obviously wants to fuck the prince in spite of or perhaps because of this trait but the sheer force of his catholic guilt is stopping him so he just stares into space angrily like he hasn't quite been fully domesticated yet while mal flirts with him.
