Water~ 1/2 cup (for sugar syrup) + 1/3 cup (for dough)
Sugar ~ 2/3 cup
Powdered sugar ~ 1 Tbsp
Cardamom ~ 1/2 tsp, crushed
Oil ~ for frying
How to prepare:
In a bowl, take maida, sooji, and ghee. Mix it well with the ghee.
Add water. Knead the mixture into soft dough. Cover with muslin cloth and keep it aside for 15 minutes.
Knead the dough once more to make it workable.
Divide it into two parts and make smooth balls out of them.
Roll the balls into 8 inch circles.
Cut the circle into your desired shape. In this we have made square in shape of ½ inch thickness.
Separate carefully.
Heat the oil. Add the square shaped para into the oil and lower the heat.
Fry on low heat till golden pink and drain it on paper napkin..
Allow to cool completely.
In another pan, add sugar to 1/2 cup of water and bring it to boil.
Let it simmer for 5-6 minutes. Add crushed cardamom powder to it.
Turn off the gas and quickly add all the para into the sugar syrup. Mix it well.
When all are coated, spread them on large plate to cool.
Once cooled, separate the pieces which are joined together.
Let it cool completely and then store in an airtight container.
