Fiona Gallagher x Reader
A quick blurb about giving Fiona your coat on a rainy night <3 Implied Fem!reader (talks about pulling money from bra)
Day-long thunderstorms always sucked because people never cared enough to go out to clubs by nightfall. Sure you’ll still get your regulars and people celebrating special events but never a huge crowd. Luckily the seasonal workers like Veronica and Fiona always kept things lively even when things were slow. Always dancing and singing about, it kept the regulars happy and tipping well.
The only thing that sucked was that they were also the first ones cut on slow nights like this. What sucked even more was having to be the ones to cut them.
Veronica was easy enough, she understood and was always easy about it. All be it a little disappointed. Fiona though always killed me on the inside. Any time I had to cut her it was like I was watching the light fade from her eyes. Seeing her internal calculation and how much it’ll cut her short for the week for losing the little bit of money she’d make on hourly pay alone, never mind the missing tips. Maybe it was because I could empathize with her, maybe it was because I had a bit of a girl crush on her. Who’s to really say.
I stepped out into the alleyway, rain slapping down onto the small awning that kept people from getting immediately poured on as they stepped out. Fiona flicked around at the sudden noise but relaxed when she see's it's just me. Though her shoulders are still a little tense as she gives me a small smile and a “hey”. She already knows what I’m going to say.
“I gotta cut you and V,” I said with a small grimace pulling my lips tight, “I’m really sorry… it’s already 11 and I’ve barely sold 40 beers, plus the rain ain’t lettin’ up any time soon” I tried to explain.
She gave me that same small, sad smile she always does. Nodding and looking away, “I get it, don’t worry” She whispered, the defeat clear on her face. I hate how tired she always looks.
I let out a sigh my own shoulders falling as I deflate slightly. After a few seconds, I start fishing around my different pockets. Pulling out anywhere I had hidden tips form the night. A few 10s in my bra from some regulars, and a small bundle of 5’s from a birthday party I had worked earlier in the day. Counting the money quickly so that I had a mental number for later in the night when I was cashing out, I handed about $30 over to her.
“What? No. (Y/n) I ain’t taken’ your money.” Fiona stated firmly the hand not holding her cigarette pushing the money back towards me. A slightly frantic look that pulled her brows together slightly coming over her face. It was the same look she always gave me whenever I tried to do anything nice for her.
“Fiona, please” I spoke softly, my other hand coming up to grab her wrist gently. Moving her hand so her palm was exposed and laid the money into it before forcing her to close her fingers around the bills. “Just take it, alright?” Her big brown puppy eyes blinked back at me, surprised and not knowing what to do about the kind jester. “It’s not an ‘I owe you’ either, it-… I just want you to have it okay? It’s a gift.”
My gaze flickered over her, taking in her dress and makeup, that same shitty jacket she always wore. Letting out another small sigh I let go of her hands.
“T- thank you… I don’t know what to say-” I shrugged off my own jacket. Throwing the raincoat over her shoulders. Carefully avoiding bumping her cigarette, as I pulled the hood up over her head. “What are you-”
“You’re gunna freeze… and I can’t have my favorite waitress dropping dead because of hypothermia.” I kept my tone a little flat, trying not to let the care I felt for her slip through too much. Though it didn’t stop my heart from doing a little flip with how cute she looked in my jacket. “Just… Go home, take the night to get some sleep for once”
She had the start of a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Giving me a few small nods as her cheeks started blushing a soft pink. I gave her my own small nod before opening the back door and slipping back into the club.
“Wait I’m your favorite waitress?!” . . .
