#sharinghistorical day 19, challenge. Ok confession time so be gentle with me. I haven't sewn a bustle dress yet. ::crowd murmurs, looks away in shock:: "but, but, that's your favorite type of dress, it's what got you interested in historical costuming and sewing when you were a little girl" says a random person from the crowd. 😅 (if you didn't know by now I'm a total dork). Something about it scares me, and I think it's because I have wanted one so badly since I was little. I have these dreams of one with all the bells and whistles. Every time I start planning one I psych myself out. I think I wouldn't be able to make the grandiose dress of my dreams. I don't know why, it just happens. I have fabric, patterns, and even bought @historicalsewing class to make all the proper undergarments and it's all just sitting there. No other era freaks me out like this. I promise myself this will be the year I will try one! So if you remember, nicely call me out on it this year. I plan on starting it in February and will post progress pics here to keep myself accountable. Ensemble, 1870-1879.French. "Blue silk taffeta. Bodice: center front buttons, peplum, silk trim.
