Clint Barton! If I'm not too late (I just got home & I lectured for 4 hours and had lab and an exam, if that buys me anything ;-))
It’s never too late to talk about how all your faves are Jewish!
Clint never gives a single thought to religion until he gets divorced. He knows vaguely that his mother was half Catholic and half Something Else, but it isn’t until he’s trying to find some peace (or a nap) that he even takes the time to wonder what the Something Else might have been.
He does 23&me, and it comes back as 24% Jewish and 6% White, from the Caucuses, so that's like 30% Jewish. Which is 30% more than he thought he’d get, so that’s kinda cool?
He doesn’t take it seriously, though. He’s met Gods. He’s fought them, and beat them. He doesn’t think that they have any more power than anyone else.
“Well yeah,” Wanda says, when he tells her that. “Of course not.”
Clint raises an eyebrow at her. “Of course?”
Wanda doesn’t roll her eyes, but she’s clearly thinking about it. “Old story,” she says. “Four Jewish sages are debating a point, and it’s 3 against 1. The one says, ‘if I am right, may G-d cause the earth to tremble!’ And it does. One of the three scoffs. ‘Fine,’ he says. ‘Now it’s three to two.’”
Clint laughs for a long, long time. “Alright,” he says. “I like your God. He can stay.”
