Summary:
Had things gone differently in any of their lives, maybe they wouldn’t be standing where they were today. Hand in lovable hand.
Sitting at the same table, sharing the same bed, living in the same house, sipping the same wine, caring for one another as deeply as they could.
Facing the world together.

It was still early when Ashe opened his eyes to movement on the bed, watery sunlight just barely beginning to peak through the window. He looked up blearily to see Felix out of bed, already pulling his hair back, his ribbon in his mouth as he ran his hands through his still sleep-mussed locks.
Ashe’s first thought was that he was beautiful. His second thought was that it was way too early to be awake, even for Felix.
“Can you stay a little longer?” Ashe tried, though he had a feeling he sluffed the words in his exhaustion based on Felix’s chuckle.
“I’ll be back before you know,” Felix promised once he had tied his hair into its ponytail, leaning over and pressing a kiss to Ashe’s forehead.
“You always say that,” Shez mumbled into Ashe’s shoulder, clearly just as disgruntled as Ashe was by Felix leaving so early. “Come back to bed.”
“You heard him,” Ashe said, feeling himself smile despite himself. Felix shook his head, though he was smiling, too.
“Sylvain and Ingrid will be here any time now,” Felix reminded them gently. In his exhaustion, Ashe had completely forgotten that the two of them were coming. He found he wasn’t certain he cared.
“They know the way to their rooms,” Shez said. “Now stay.”
Felix chuckled again, coming back to the other side and kissing Shez’s forehead too. Shez whined half-heartedly when he pulled away, making grabby hands at him. Felix took one hand in his and kissed the back before standing up.
“I’ll be back soon,” he promised. And with that, he left the room, ignoring the protests Shez mumbled into the pillow and the way Ashe was pouting.
They’d get him back for it. Ashe wasn’t sure how just yet, but they would.
“i’m gonna stay the night, you shouldn’t be left alone.” for ashezlix pretty please 🥺 I loved what you did last time with the three of them
god you really know how to indulge a man razz i had so much fun with this

Felix wasn't sure what to expect, but it wasn't this.
Ashe didn't look destroyed. To an outsider, he barely looked phased. Felix knew him well enough to know that was far from the truth, could tell by the way he was slumped over, how he gripped the strap of his quiver, how his smile dropped the moment he thought no one was looking.
Felix knew Shez saw it too. He caught the concerned glances in Ashe’s direction, understood the way he brushed their hands together and nodded minutely towards their archer.
The march back to camp took too long. Felix couldn’t break away from his station at Dimitri’s side, though he knew Dimitri wouldn’t be the one causing a fuss. But there was already turmoil throughout the army, with soldiers realizing the connection their general had with the man they’d just killed. Shez was in a similar position, but Felix knew they both itched to be with Ashe, to comfort him as best they could.
Not that there was much comfort to be had. Lonato had been Ashe’s savior, and their army had to kill him. Treason was treason, Felix supposed, but it didn’t make the weight of grief any easier to carry.
Shez was able to break off when they got to camp, hurrying to the stables as soon as he was dismissed by Dimitri to check on Ashe. Felix, Duke that he was, had to stay, though he could tell it pained Dimitri to force him to.
They bunched in the council room, Matthias Gautier and Seteth joining them alongside a handful of other advisors. Felix barely processed the meeting, eyeing the door anxiously and only piping up when he felt it was required, whether that be for information’s sake or Dimitri’s.
Dimitri wrapped up the meeting quickly, saying that they could go over the battle in more detail and think of ways to proceed when they had more people present and were less exhausted from the battle. Normally, Felix would protest, knowing that not getting a full battle briefing in before having the rest of the officers present would only lead to disaster, but his mind was in other places right now.
He rushed out as soon as it was appropriate, bowing shallowly to Dimitri on his way out. He didn’t need to look around to orient himself, walking the familiar path to Ashe’s tent, grateful for the consistency of the spot he took.
He pushed open the flap and walked inside, feeling himself soften as he saw Ashe curled into Shez’s side. He removed his boots before joining them on the cot, wrapping an arm around Ashe.
He was trembling.
“We’re here,” Felix said. He knew he wasn’t the best at comfort - it had never come easy to him - but that, at least, he could say confidently. “We’re right here.”
“I know.” His voice was quiet, but it rang loud in the relative silence of the tent.
“We’ll always be here,” Shez whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of Ashe’s head.
“I know.” He didn’t seem annoyed, just falling deeper into Shez’s embrace, all kinds of exhaustion seeming to weigh him down. Shez glanced up at Felix, and Felix nodded.
“We’re staying here tonight,” Shez murmured. “You shouldn’t be left alone.”
“You don’t have to,” Ashe said. It was a weak protest, and that just made Felix’s concern grow.
“We know,” Felix assured him. “We want to.”
“I’ve done this alone before,” Ashe said. “I can do it again.”
A pang of sadness washed over Felix, and he turned so that he could hold Ashe closer to him. “That doesn’t mean you have to. That doesn’t mean you should.”
“We’ll leave if you want us to,” Shez said, though the look in his eyes told Felix otherwise. “But we want to be here with you. We want to support you with this.”
“Are you sure?”
“Absolutely,” Shez said.
“Always,” Felix reiterated. He felt Ashe relax more, slumping against them. He didn’t say anything, but he didn’t need to.
Felix gently ran his hands through Ashe’s hair as Shez hummed a lullaby. It was somewhat cramped on the small bedroll, three crammed on when it was only designed for one, but Felix didn’t care. What mattered was that Ashe was safe and cared for, that he was surrounded with love, reminded that it wasn’t his fault before he internalized it.
“We’ll always be here for you,” Felix heard Shez murmur. He was grateful Shez was able to put his thoughts to words, able to voice what he feared would always remain trapped in his chest. “No matter what.”
Why are you limping for m!ashez for the injury prompts? You can't expect me to request anything else lmao
If not ashez, then maybe Ashelix?
you can't present me with the option of ashelix and expect me not to take it but also i want to adhere to your request and so i raise you: ashezlix
also im sleepy so this is either gonna be utterly incomprehensible, disgustingly soft, or both

Felix had never been one to openly admit when he was hurt. He tried his best to hide it from his comrades, tried his best to go to his tent and tend to it himself. His friends attempted to catch on to any of his injuries before he did so - the potential of him hurting himself further was too high for anyone to be at ease with his plan, especially to Mercedes - but it didn't work as often as they would like. Felix had plenty of practice hiding his injuries, and he only got better by the day.
So when Ashe saw Felix struggling to hide his limp, he knew something was very, very wrong.
"Felix, why are you limping?" Ashe tried not to let the panic seep into his voice, but he doubted it worked.
Felix looked up at him with wide eyes and grunted. "I'm fine."
Wordlessly, Ashe looped his arm around Felix's waist, trying to support him. His frown only deepened when Felix didn't protest.
"We're going to the med tent," Ashe said, gently turning Felix in the intended direction.
"I'm fine," Felix said. "I don't need-"
"Yes, you do," Ashe said, firm but still gentle. "I'll carry you there if I have to."
Felix was silent for a moment, but nodded stiffly. They walked in silence, Felix clearly struggling despite Ashe taking more and more of his weight with every step.
The moment they got into the tent, Ashe helped Felix sit down on one of the beds and went to get a damp cloth and a vulnerary. Felix shook his head when he saw the cloth, wincing.
"The cloth won't be necessary," he said, voice strained. "It's internal."
Ashe inhaled sharply through his nose but nodded. He heard footsteps approaching, relief flooding through him when he realized it was Shez, frowning as he saw Felix sitting on the bed.
"What happened?" He didn't bother concealing his worry, immediately taking Felix's hand. Usually, Felix would have blushed or looked away in such a public setting. Here, he just gripped Shez's hand tightly.
Shez looked up at Ashe, clearly thinking the same thing. Whatever happened, it was bad.
"Do you know where Mercedes is?" Ashe asked.
"She should be coming here now," Shez said.
"Alright. I don't want to do anything without her guidance," Ashe said. "If it's a break, a vulnerary could only damage it more if it's not set correctly."
"Good call," Shez said.
Ashe sat beside Felix, grabbing his other hand and letting his head fall on his shoulder. "Do you want to tell us what happened?"
"Not important," Felix said, closing his eyes against the pain. "It'll be fine."
Seemingly right on cue, Mercedes walked in, eyebrows immediately furrowing at the sight of Felix sitting on an infirmary bed without putting up a fight.
"Do you want us to leave?" Ashe asked quietly. Felix squeezed his hand but didn't let go. Ashe smiled lightly, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. "Okay. We'll stay."
Mercedes was able to troubleshoot the problem fairly quickly - a fractured femur, however Felix had managed that - and healing it was somewhat trivial. She drew curtains around the bed to give the trio some privacy when she was done, smiling at them.
"Better?" Shez asked quietly, still rubbing circles into Felix's hand. Felix nodded, energy drained from the healing magic.
"Do you want to take a nap?" Ashe murmured. Felix hesitated before shifting, going to lay down. He pulled Shez and Ashe with him, and the two shared a smile before lying next to him.
It was slightly cramped in such a small bed, but as he watched Felix relax enough to fall asleep quickly, sandwiched between the two of them, Ashe knew it was worth it. And as he glanced up at Shez and saw how soft his eyes were as he looked down at Felix, he knew he agreed.
