yukitori doodle to accompany a very angry and stupid rant of how I HATE a lot of the fandoms treatment of yukitori

a big occurrence I run into when people realise “wait… this is an option?” Isn’t to celebrate that it’s an actual well written and very possible queer ship, but just to get Aira out the way.

“Finally she’ll get out of the way of mokarun!” “I don’t care who she’s with, as long as she gets out of the way of mokarun!” dear god shut UP. is mokarun all you people care about?? Aira’s queer coding is HEAVY and it’s been a big thing through her character, it’s not just something tatsu randomly decided to throw in because having yuri would be funny. Wlw couples are always sidelined in media, whether it’s by the author themselves or the fandom prioritising popular straight and mlm ships.

A big example of this can be found in alien stage. Mizi is the main character. The only actual COUPLE IS mizi and sua. They have SO much to dive into, especially for content that’s only like 30 fucking minutes long. People will and HAVE looked at them and called them “yuri slop” but for couples like ivantill and hyuluka, they will froth at the mouth and praise how well written they were. Even though mizi and sua clearly have the most depth out of fucking anyone

This is just one example of how fandoms treat wlw relationships. Hell look at mha, so many people ONLY ship togachako to get Ochaco out the way of their popular mlm ship. They don’t actually care about the depth in her story, sidelining her and not giving a second glance.

This is already happening with aira. She’s one of the best characters in Dandadan, but people only see her as momo’s love rival and in the way of the story. They call her derogatory names like a slut and skank, even though she’s just a girl with feelings. I can’t even imagine what’s going to happen to her once the anime releases.

someone tell me how is it possible that Zuma x jiji is more popular than yukitori. like ok i understand that mlm couples have always been big and it’s up to personal preference. but REALLY?? People like the mlm ship that appeared for like 3 chapters more than a pairing that has so much queer coding and GOOD WRITING AND ADDS A LOT TO BOTH CHARACTERS?? REALLY? if yukitori was mlm it’d be just as fucking popular i know that for a FACT.

I also find it really confusing when dudebros are SO against yukitori. like under my art they’ll comment “she’s straight!!” um ok i suppose. did you sit down and ask her that yourself. just acting like bi people can’t exist. “She’s only ever shown attraction to a man!!” but like. Are you SURE. are you sure? seriously sure? fr bro?

and why does it matter SO much to you that she’s straight. I understand when it’s a canon gay character in a straight ship, because that’s ignoring representation and disregarding it. But are you SO desperate for more straight rep?? Even though like 90% of all media to ever fucking exist has a straight couple in it??

side note, the only thing I’ve ever seen the dandadan fandom agree on is that no matter what, kouki’s gay as shit. even the chronic straight shippers know it.
