This really convicted me. I’ve found that the message of the Parable of the 10 Virgins (Matthew 25) keeps coming up in my life. I felt that I needed to share.
Isaiah 40 speaks of “The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God...The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the Spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”
In the sermon, he speaks of the world, the desert, the wilderness, being starved. There was a shortage of bread, the word of God (Matthew 4:4- “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”)
He also spoke of the church being cold, huddled inside the walls of their church building while the world was chaos around them. The coldness of the church directly led to the starving, freezing and desolate state of the world.
The church NEEDS to STOP HIDING our light, the Light of Jesus inside us, under the bushel. We NEED the fire of the Holy Spirit living inside us not only to keep our own lamps lit, but also to illuminate the world around us. People are hurting, starving, freezing.
We need to make sure that we are living the Word of God. Not only for our own relationship with Jesus, but because we are called to be witnesses. To be a witness, we must first actually see and be part of something before we can tell others about it. Where is our fire? Where is the presence of God in our lives? Is God only part of us when we are in the church building? Or are we the living church when we go about our daily lives?
Are we cold?
